I have encountered a couple of bugs they don't happen to often so it isn't game breaking for me. first one is the most annoying cuz it freezes on cut scenes sometimes and i have to hard shutdown the pc, the other is a crash to desktop happens very rarely but the auto save has saved me on that one big time.

maybe its an overclock thats causing the problems

I played last night with everything enabled, ultra settings @ 1920x1080 and was getting around 40-45 average fps. So I figure if I turn a few things down such as the nvidia hair deal, I should be able to hit 60 fps. As is the game runs really smoothly and even in battle I didn't experience any issues. Quite pleased.

This on a GTX 980 & i5 2500K @ 4.5Ghz.

Now my game has crashed twice. Game freezes, but I can still hear it then crashes to the desktop. So two crashes in about a two hour play period.

My only other complaint is that I cannot change keyboard keys on about a dozen or so commands. They all have the lock symbol on them. I cannot play like this. I use the arrows and need to change all the keys to fit.
I ended up hooking up my XBone controller and it's much easier to play with it. BUT I hate having to use the controller.

Runs at 31FPS utterly maxed out for me, with motion blur disabled. 1440p of course.

It starts the game with the world affairs the way your decisions left them, basically in the Witcher 2.

Much appreciated! :)

I still trust my own playtime with a 780 though, over benchmarks which tell me I have playability problems which I have not seen.

Yeah, seeing much Kepler hate. Now running everything on ultra at 1440p. 55fps average. Nice

Nvidia GameWorks, the way its mean to be upgraded......

Where a 960 = a 780Ti on draw and cull triangles, since they are essentially the same card.

Lets be very clear here, Nvidia is shitting out "effects" through the closed box GameWorks that devastate the AMD cards, and fuck with performance on older Nvidia cards, and at least 5-10% of the new cards in an attempt to make themselves look better, and hoping the rabid fanboy mass will make it OK for them to do this. Irregardless of what brand card you run the effects are and have been shown to be detrimental to your performance, not only is it a poor implementation of already available standards, it is a paid off closed source weight dragging the performance of all brands of cards down significantly when faster and better visuals are available.

Tbh i would like for amd to be more agressive toward tressfx and other thing...gameworks isn't closed like phys x but isn't optimize at all...i still remember the time when Nvidia was putting tesselation everywhere just to make ppl believe the gtx 400 (wich was basicaly a moar power comsumption for moar tesselation architecture) was superior to the hd 5000. I know business is business but it's just hurt things as a whole. At least amd is using open stantard. But just like cuda, developer will jump on whatever looks more "complete" before looking into open stantard. And i don't think Nvidia will ever stop to try making (and advertising) their in-house stuff better than what is available elsewhere.

Anybody else noticed VRAM usage is crazy low?

I'm on 1440p, maxed everything. Still only using 2.2GB VRAM.

2K textures by max in settings Rendering.ini mate... you may increase the budget there too, it worked for TW2.

Yes. on 1080 I see, to recall, that despite just how good it all looked and how much was presented texture-wise I was hovering around 2. I will check again tonight for sure.

I really see this as a turning point. We have been getting more and more amazing titles, with mod support that make them incredible and lets you take them as far as you want or your hardware can handle. Look at how fucking far Skyrim is from the original game, and its merely a DX9 game, imagine if instead of the closed garden bullshit modders were given source code to play with. Hell, look at the weather and performance of GTA5, for a stock game its absolutely stunning. Sure the physics are wonky, but if modders were able to implement PhysX/OpenCL physics on any card? Want to play a vanilla game, runs damn well on any card, want to play with more realistic physics thats fine, you bought the hardware already. But cut the bullshit where the GameWorks forces the calculations to be run, but...o hhh not a Nvidia...lets throw those out but you still get the performance penalty, plus, you can't optimize for it, so it will take you months of using drivers to cull the calls, and that will burn up CPU time... well thats tough. Oh we see you have an older Nvidia card.... well, how about we only penalize you like 20-40% OK, encourage that upgrade.

I might have one more fact... ain't the sums of the RAM and VRAM near 8GB accidentally , you might guess why... illuminati and console shit :D

I appreciate all the concern over the Gameworks meddling but I'm pretty sure it adds little. Hairworks, like TressFX is still a bit naff. Like Physx.

On the graphics side, I can run it maxed out on ultra (Blur off - I hate blur) and get around 50fps +/- 10. I couldn't run Dying Light maxed out and it was around 40fps. Fact is, if the game is playing smoothly, why are people getting so uptight? It's great they've kept the RAM usage down (kind of like BF4) despite it looking like it uses more. I mean, Shadow of Mordor used a tonne of Vram for not much higher effect on texture (I had to limit mine to 3GB or it ran like a stuttery muppet).

Anyone know how I can take a screenshot so I can bask in it's glory in this thread?

I dream of a world where microsoft would be an innovative company. I dream of a world where Ms could slap bitch nvidia properitary tech, and just make better one working on any card. I dream of a world where this tech would be open source. A world where ppl who actually care could contribuate to make things better . I have nothing against the Khronos group, but Ms have the gaming world in his hand, and seeing just how linux is still these days (even on ubuntu) a matter of luck to get stuff working, I don't see it as a challenger that could really worry Ms. So all i can do is dream....

@the54thvoid I am assuming you are running the GOG version like I am sans Galaxy from the desktop. No, there is no screenshot function in their games run this way. Best you can do is print screen, alt-tab to desktop, paste it in (i use paint.net) and save. Then back to game.

It really doesn't add much, but it takes away a lot.

Mantle forced DX12 to be better.

@the54thvoid I am assuming you are running the GOG version like I am sans Galaxy from the desktop. No, there is no screenshot function in their games run this way. Best you can do is print screen, alt-tab to desktop, paste it in (i use paint.net) and save. Then back to game.

I'm actually on Steam version. Was cheaper! By pennies mind.

Well hell, just F12. Just ensure Steam overlay is running.

EDIT: Used Shadowplay to get a definate on my fps, since it is playing so smoothly for my. With my rig, at High, and shadows on medium with motion blur off I get between 42 and 48 fps, with 43 and 44 being the predominate numbers. GPU-z reports up to 1.9GB of VRAM used. GPU is at 99% utilization running between 50-60 celcius.

yhea, because mantle was posing an actual threat. Without threat ms tend to not try hard enough. We all know that ntfs isn't the best filesystem outhere, yet Ms don't seem in a hurry to make a better one. Hairworks is just nvidia's tressfx, and it's also working on directcompute. An area where gcn does not suck at all. Yet for some reason amd card can't handle fur made with the glorious vision of nvidia. Havok can make physics, cloth, desctruction just fine, for everyone. But nvidia tech still get customers. If Ms would be more greedy, and make all these things a concrete part of direct x rather than just made the tools available for developers, things wouldn't be so fragmented.

Nvidia is doing awesome stuff, but the way they have to make everything so locked, so exclusive is disguting. (Heck , can you believe that open cl was created by apple ? yet every os can use it !) The saddest part in all of this, is that they are so good in what they are doing, they will ALWAYS get away with it. More gameworks games are to be expected.
