Thermal issues with Sapphire FleX-OC HD 7950

I would re-flash the stock unmodified bios and see if that changes anything temp wise. Since the heatsink is getting hot as it's supposed to I believe it's more of a configuration issue.
hi! today i had the time to flash back the stock bios, and the temps are still as bad... so id guess its either the cooler or the paste, and i have to get pads. i still find it so weird that the temperatures got worse after a slight change to the vbios? could there be any explanation to that? either way, thanks to all of you!! one day i'll get the thermalright heilos pad and see if the situation finally gets solved

Yes please do so, fyi the 7950 later became the R9 280 and the 7970 became the R9 280X, 6GB model cards are rare for those.
R9 280/280X offered great bang for the buck in the ~200EUR price range about a decade ago.
