Thermalright rolled out its latest flagship CPU cooler, the Grand Macho, or Le Grande Macho as it's probably known in French markets, as picked up by our colleagues at FanlessTech. An extremely beefed up version of the original Macho, this off-center aluminium fin tower-type cooler features more fins, including odd-shaped fins that wrap around the base; an additional heat-pipe, taking its tally to 7, compared to 6 on the original, and 8 on the HR22.

Another of its characteristics is a matte-black top-fin. Although the tower is off-center, there are cutouts in the fin-stack for DIMM clearance on either sides (should help with LGA2011/v3 builds in which there are DIMM slots on either sides of the socket. The cooler measures 150 mm x 120 mm x 159 mm, weighing 900 g. The cooler is designed for both passive (up to 95W TDP), and active (up to 300W), with a pair of 120 mm spinners in push-pull configuration. The company didn't detail pricing or availability.

A regular U.N.
Le Grande Macho, the French-Spanish mash-up. Is it too much to ask for a Le Grande Macho Velikiy Meister Edition?

It just looks like a HR22 to me, only without the ducting that links its airflow to a rear 120mm fan.

Although the tower if off-center,

Bta developed a lisp?

Most Thermalright coolers are going to look like HR22. TRUE was copied the hell out of, and so Thermalright is trying to create another unique design that it can catch other companies copying with.

Weighing in at a hefty 900 grams, coming all the way from Spain...in the left corner...I present youuuu: Le Grande.....MACHOOOO. In the right corner weighing in at the astounding 1900 grams....DA True COPPAAH....

On a side note : a screwdriver ? -> nice touch .

900g hung by just a few screws. I wish those users' motherboards don't get bent after a couple of months.

I bet Creative owns the name already :D

You'd be surprised how many everyday things in our lives are hung by just a few screws, should be fine.

i've had a Macho hung on the vertical on my mobo for 3 years now. No warping, cracking or loss of contact with the CPU. Not really a problem. Still the best cooler you can buy for less than $80.

I want that screwdriver  but they prolly should make the handle rubber-coated.
I still had some TRUE 120 cooling an ancient rigs for almost six years and those mobos are fine.
I don't like the way thermalright coolers look though. I think they are ugly but performed flawlessly, and that's why they're my first choice when it comes to air cooling.

That's not French at all, otherwise it would've been called "le gros macho."

Can't wait for the review though. I'm a huge fan (no pun intended) of high end air coolers.

Better name would've been Macho Grande, nobody would be able to get over it.

MACHO LIBRE!!!!!!!

I'm not getting the point of the leaning tower, but hey...they toss in a screwdriver? Cool....:)

Best,

Liquid Cool

The handle or the shaft? Cuz the handle is plastic, dude.

900g hunk of metal hanging onto my CPU socket? Yeah, no thanks.
i run deepcool assasin and yes i prefer placed the board horizontal if you wanna use heavy cooler

Wait, a rubber coated shaft? This isn't toypowerup again, is it?

That's a big muddah!

Such as relationships? :D

Jokes aside, these might be my next coolers. The old Frios (don't judge me, they were free-o with my SR-2 [OK now you can judge me, I'm a fan of puns but that was exhausting <I should be shot>]) aren't coping with my overclocked Xeon X5690s in our summer heat of up to 44'c so far, with core temps hitting well into the 90s :(
