Thermalright Intros Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme Rev. B CPU Cooler

Thermalright today rolled out the Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme Rev. B CPU cooler. Thermalright has made changes to the design to make sure the fin-stack is slightly offset from the base in directions that free up headroom near the memory area and topmost expansion slot of a typical mainstream-desktop motherboard, giving you easy access to the memory and M.2 slots closest to the CPU socket.

Heat drawn from a heavier mirror-finished nickel-plated copper base is conveyed to the fin-stacks by eight 6 mm-thick heat pipes. The lavish use of heavy copper used in this heatsink make it tip the scales at 850 g, without fans. With both its fans installed, the Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme Rev. B can handle thermal loads of up to 320W. Each of the two included TY-143 140 mm fans spin between 600 to 2,500 RPM, pushing 31.4 to 130 CFM of air, with a noise output ranging between 21 to 45 dBA. Thermalright has updated the CPU socket support to include AM4 and LGA2066, besides LGA115x and LGA2011(v3). The heatsink measures 155 mm x 130 mm x 163 mm (LxWxH). The company didn't reveal pricing.

and also, who in their right mind wants a 1Kg hunk of metal hangin off da mobo anyways.....

This cooler looks like a pretty darn good cooler to compette with noctua nh-d15 and capable of removing up to 320 watt tdp is not to shabby for an air cooler and also makes it a competter for an aio i will say.


This might be a cooler i will consider for a new pc next year. Cause well i have a noctua nh-d14 now so im used to a big lump of a cooler and i am not much in to the wet stuff.

Their Macho cooler already beat the d15, i expect this to be even better than that.

Nice looks, definitely the top of the preformens, but the new one is only a combination of parts and added tr4 mounting set.
Such a beast needs additional protective clips for unwanted vibration and less stress on the motherboard. Otherwise, I would not dare install it on the side .I also expected Le Grand Macho with 8 tubes in the new offer, but it is not yet available.

From their product page, it states they ARE aluminium.
"The higher distance from the aluminum fins to the copper base prevents collisions of the fan and a high-rising cooler of RAM-modules."

Did not read much complaints about the Zalman 7700-Cu back in those days, & it was also almost 1kg.

Their Macho cooler already beat the d15, i expect this to be even better than that.

It seems correct for a single fan. But the D15 needs to be tested in dual or triple fan config. Here it is tested in single & dual fan config. Pause the video at around 3.15. (look at the dual fan config result) Noctua D15 has a lower temperature.

I have the original on a 2600k @ 4.8 Ghz since 2011. It had to rotate it 90 degrees to make it miss the top card ... it didn't hit but w/ no backplate, it was just too close to all those exposed soldered connections that if ya bumped the desk ...

But the cooler it needs to catch (in thermals and price) is the Scythe Fuma ($46) ....

Tho, I have seen Noctua coolers do better by putting Phanteks fans on them.... CPU drops 3C at same rpm
