The only thing I can think of, is to make a custom length one without the need to splice, solder, or use extensions.

People use extensions these days, like the NZXT cable. The joint is neatly tucked away behind the motherboard tray.

Easier to sleeve. This PSU asks for black/red murdermod sleeve

I don't see how. Both ends have 24-pin connectors, which is big enough to void any advantage of being modular for sleeving.
 
It won't produce more heat, but just like in a car, that heat can soak back into the components without the fan moving the air to let it escape. Turbo timier were invented to combat this exact situation in cars. It's a very common, well known happening. The fan staying on is a good thing.



the turbo timer is only for cars with a turbo, the reson it was invented and came to be is not becouse the turbo is hot or the engine, they can take the tempureture just fine. however its actuly the OIL or Lubrication around the Turbo that cannot take the heat from a turbo. when the oil stops moving becouse the car is off it gets hotter sitting next to the turbo as it cools.


now in a psu there is no oil, instead it use's air. there is no problem of the air being too hot. so a device like this in a psu is not needed.

No, but I was simplifying the issue. The heat remains in the turbo, coking the oil. The car must continue to run, to ensure the heat dissipates.

Make a couple back to back passes at the strip, then shut your car off right away. The water temp will actually climb for a bit before settling back down.

Same principle applies here, although not as prominent. Either way, having the fan continue to run is not really a bad thing.

I said without using extensions. And that doesn't account for someone that may want to use a shorter cable.

Better explanation: Only good for custom cabling.
 
If you dont get how that works, think of it this way: your bladder is full of hot, steaming urine. you take a piss. suddenly, the toilet waters temperature rose. OH NO. but you (the source of the heat) just dumped a ton of heat out of you... so you're cooler. its just the area around you that got warmed up.

no it dosnt, how would it get hotter? yes you have shutdown the cooling. but there is also not more heat being made. it cant get hotter if its not creating heat !. your not burning fuel so thre is no more heat source, it cant get hotter.

your right it wont get cooler but it cant get hotter.

Perhaps you missed the part about "no more air is flowing around it to dissipate the heat." Let's take it from the top. The cooling system absorbs heat from the engine and transports the heat to the radiator. Air flowing through the radiator dissipates that heat. Then you stop the car and turn off the ignition. No more coolant is circulating through the engine, and no more air is flowing through the radiator. It's true that no more heat is being generated. However, the heat that is already inside the engine will not get removed, and the engine will get hotter for a while before it starts cooling down.

Sorry, but this design is ridiculous, IMHO.
 
As far as features and visual appearance is concerned it's great looking unit and it would have been just perfect companion for their own Level 10 case but unfortunately:
it's only at max 750W it's got
ugly looking cables (yellow with red) it's an eyesore when looking at an open case.
It's time for most producers to pay an attention to these finishing details.
The good example of how cables should have been made is CORSAIR with HX and their latest offering AX series.

Looking forward to seeing in the near future a 1KW unit with nice black ribbon type cables - then I will buy one.
