AMD today posted this video clip showing an AMD Radeon "Vega" graphics card running "Doom" (2016) at 4K Ultra HD, with all its details maxed out. Vega made short work of the AAA game with its Vulkan renderer enabled, clocking frame-rates of around 70 frames per second. This kind of performance should put "Vega" firmly in the high-end segment of graphics cards, when it hits the shelves a little later this year.

That's a solid 10-20FPS more on that level than my 480 gets overclocked without AA/AF on. I would have preferred some actual gameplay like with things shooting at the character so I could you know maybe actually see how it does though.

AMD is in full-scale marketing mode. That's a good thing I feel! While they've been hype in the past, I feel actual marketing has been a miss.

There will be no less than 3 more DOOM demos prior to release.

Oh noes... Titan X gets 80fps average..... and Pascal doesn't do Vulkan.

I'd love to see a DX11 title.....

How fast is Pascal?

BUT IT RUNS DOOM! DOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

If you're not exclusively playing Doom, you don't deserve this card.

You think this is final silicon/drivers? I think we're still a while out from an actual release but this does look promising. I hope it's priced well and the 7950 equivalent isn't too cut, I could use an upgrade LoLoLoL

I'm all hyped for a card that might make me ditch Nvland 'n all, but what's with the Buzzfeed-ish title?

Nothing special. "Doom" "Vulcan" again......

We want to see results without Vulcan and with DX11!!

Looks smooth to me?

Bta seems to love to sensationalize things lately :)

I really hope this is a win for AMD because it will help pricing in both markets..

-.- If AMD really wants to show off Vega they should pick titles that they currently struggle with.

I'm all with you on that one, but marketing always tries to show the product in the best light possible so choosing DOOM is understandable.

We still don't know if this is smaller Vega or the larger one.

You realize they are running with modified Fury drivers ATM?

I'm quite hyped for Vega. They just need to give us damn Fast V-Sync mode. They are so quiet about it and they just keep on pushing stupid FreeSync.

That's great. Lets see it run BF1 in DX12 at 4k.

Pfff. Vulkan? They should show DX10 or DX9 games performance. Bring out Crysis 1! Or FarCry1!

Who cares about new API right? As long as AMD hardware excels at them they are useless. Well not until new gen GeForce cards also have great new API support. Then it will be "ZOMG it is so cool Vulkan/DX12/AsyncCompute sooooo important this is the way done right" etc. etc.

Using Doom doesn't really demonstrate the power of Vega, it's not that taxing of a game and AMD GPU's already have an edge, so this demo is kind of meh, if they used games they have trouble with and can get some decent FPS then that would be something, using unoptimized drivers would only make them look better.

I hope people read the Cautionary Statement before making assumptions.

10 seconds in he clearly says

flagship vega

clear enough? It's the top Vega card. As for how fast is Titan X (@Frick )

90fps average

Marketing or hype, I don't see the difference.
All this reminds me too much of the 290x launch (if we can call that a launch) or the Fury (who chose the name, the guy from the video above?); I'm not very optimistic, but sincerely hope I'm wrong.

They're clearly not going to do nvidias proprietary fastsync why do you keep banging on about it in every AMD GPU thread , you have not actually used freesync yet are an expert in its issues (although I've not seen any issues using it) ,are you aware they are pushing freesync 2 with Vega ,Nvidia have gsync HDR now too.

Yea, and the Titan test was done on a 5960X@4.4 with DDR4@2133, Vega demo was on a 4790 with DDR3@1600, unknown CPU clock, possibly stock.
Second, there were a lot of inconsistencies with the settings used with OGL-Vulkan transition.
Just like you posted that, I could post TH review where TX P has 77fps average.
And what do we get... nothing.
