*TPU's Gaming Headphone/Headset Thread*

On the headphones I use, I notice the difference between original lossless 24-bit content versus CD and vinyl rips.
The original lossless 24-bit content sounds richer on these headphones.

Take the three recordings below. Lana Del Rey's song in the third recording is original lossless 24-bit content and the other songs are CD or vinyl rips.
I can hear the difference on the headphones. And also the specific recording has a more detailed sound than the other songs.

Kawai stereo headphones

There are websites where you can download original 24-bit content. https://www.prostudiomasters.com/

I made a recording of these headphones last night while playing four games on OpenBSD.

I would rate these headphones 9.8/10 for gaming and music, and 10/10 for movies.
One downside might be that the cable is not especially long compared to audio-technica headphones' 3-metre cable.
But that is not an important thing for me.

In terms of durability, I think they are also fine. It doesn't strike me as a product that can break down quickly.

Have to rate my old Sony WH-1000X M3 headphones. Just discovered they have to be active even when wired to get full hd. That's annoying.
But when powered on, fantastic sound. 4hz to 40khz range. Ldac bluetooth support... yep. Upto 96khz and 990hz support... yep. Not bad for old junk!

... old junk?

And as I'm here I've started using the Plantronics C5220 headset for realz and it's no joke great. Can usually be found new in box or very lightly used for around €30, and you can't beat them at that price. The mic is so good.

Yeah...This annoys me about my XM4's as well, so don't feel alone.

It especially sucks because they're my desk headphones; I use a XS with a qudelix velcroed to the strap for 'wireless'. It looks a little weird, but I don't care. I do care when I forget to charge the XM4's.

FWIW: My XS is pretty much exactly like this, if you need a visual. This isn't me, but I did pretty much the exact same thing and have had a pretty similar experience using similar-ish EQ. Great minds. :)

Kawai SH-9 are very good gaming headphones.

My sound quality ranking of the four headphones of which I've heard enough to form an opinion.

1. Kawai SH-9 + OpenBSD sndio + music player daemon + 24-bit studio master tracks
2. audio-technica ATH-M20X + FreeBSD OSS4 + music player daemon + 24-bit studio master tracks
3. beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO + FreeBSD OSS4 + music player daemon + 24-bit studio master tracks
4. DunRock Halo + Sony XZ2 + Android + Chrome + 24-bit studio master tracks
