Do you have a GPU-Z-Screenshot for both cards and photos from the back?

NimeZ drivers are messing with the GPU names. The "HD 6750" is the 5770, and the "HD 5950" is the 5870.

Here's Unigine Heaven at the basic preset.

unigine-heaven-5770.png

I love the completely linear scaling between these GPUs. The 5870 has exactly twice the shaders of the 5770 and the same architecture, VRAM, and clock speed.

Again, notice how cool the 5870 runs. I don't know what dark wizardry ATI used to do that, but it's pretty cool.

Pics of the backs (with backplates on because I'm lazy; the 5770 requires the cooler to be removed to get the backplate off).

360ee under vista for YouTube pegs the CPU
The reason for slow YT performance is that the FX 2700M GPU cannot decode modern video streams. It only supports H.264, so the CPU has to do all the lifting.

You could try the h264ify browser plugin for a better experience. This will enforce a legacy codec which the GPU can accelerate.

I was going to mention but must have forgotten. Chrome web store will not let you install extensions into 360ee, just tells you to update browser.

I tried h264ify but had no luck because of that. Google says you can still use the extension if you install it from a CRX file but I dunno where to get the extension file for h264ify

Has anyone else seen DDR2 ICs on a DDR1 PCB? Well here they are. These are Qimonda HYB18T512400BF-5.
PC2-3200 (DDR2-400), 1.8vdimm, CL3-3-3
Oddly enough, they used a SPD of a Samsung DDR1 PC2700 .
I have tested them on a Pentium 4 System with SIS651 Chipset.

Weird. That kinda tracks. DDR2 was just an enhanced revision of DDR1, with faster clocks and relaxed timings.

True. But how can these 1.8v ICs survive 2.5/2.6v without any cooling? I don't think that there is any DDR1 based Motherboard out there which can supply less then 2.5v. And even if there is one, the SPD forces 2.5v per default here.

As I said before... I love old cards that have character and soul and not just fans and heat pipes. I know it's mid-range... and I don't care :peace:

P.S. Which one do you like more, regardless of the manufacturer? :) - Gigabyte ;) - Chaintech

John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Problem is that souls of those who produce new/er cards went black, hence no light, no character, only darkness. :shadedshu:

You will when, u run out of storage space..... Also this design is better, in terms of cooling, and for some strange reason palit did use on their red cards japanese Rubycon caps, so it is also better in build quality prob...

20240215_144602.jpg20240215_144638.jpg20240215_144610.jpg

Tho better to be 9800GT instead (prefer 9800 Ultra or at least GTX, but GT alone has a lot more chance to be still working), also is XFX and also is all in black pretty nice...
Got these today, hope the cards to work, specially the FX5900. Funny how XFX did not care to align the damn chokes, and they are like that, is annoying..
The drives welp whatever dont care at all about them, they also look like they got some beat up.. But my bet is that the MaxtoR is prob dead, as that brand had real garbage drives, that were going bad all the time...

Excelstor is made out of recycled Hitachis (at least that specific series). I'd avoid them, as they had HIGH failure rates. The older ones (Europa for example) are even worse, being recycled pre-Hitachi Deskstars.

The Maxtor might surprisingly work - I've seen more working 80GB sized DiamondMax 9 and 10 than any other capacities they came in.

Strange enough - Excelstor's oldest drives weren't IBM/Hitachi to begin with - Conner Peripherals' design is what they bought at first, then switched to IBM/Hitachi later on.

Well dont know about if excelstore were recycled or not.. Saw some of them to have IBM chips on the PCB, that as well as the overall form of the drive itself, made me believe they are relabeled IBM deskstar drives...

I have funny enough 1 working in great condition MaxtoR 200GB ide that i even use on the IBM - Voodoo V system, and it just works fine ever since... Still prefer to use WD and mostly SeaGate for IDE drives, specially the IDE barracuda drives are very reliable in my exp, the 7200.7 series never did fail on me...

I like the old pre barracuda SG drives, the Medalist, the logo is just very good...

Not just relabeled, but "refurbished".

Refurbed as in "take this drive that'll fail within less than one week because we're greedy mf$$".

Maxtors of that era were fairly good in my experience as well. Seagates were fairly good (have one ST310211A in a Optiplex GX1) and WD as well, just hate some of the 40GB WDs being loud as hell.

Anyways, yesterday's shopping. Lot of 8 boards and 3 expansion cards, out of these only 4 mainboards worked, one is untested due to CPU type (Slot 2), expansions all work.

Working:
- MSI MS-6156 (ZX)
- DFI K6BV3+/66 B2
- Gigabyte 6BXDS
- Gigabyte 6BXU
- 2x Turtle Beach AU8830 A2, Dell OEM
- Voodoo 3 2000 PCI

Untested - ASUS XG-DLS - no Slot 2 CPUs on hand (yet)

Not working:
- Gigabyte 6BA
- ASUS P5A Rev 1.06
- Chaintech 5RSA0
- Intel OR840

Also bought a Dell Optiplex GX1 which came full of old games. 10GB Seagate U5, the same as original Xbox. Upgraded it with an Aureal Vortex 8820 (might change to a YMF724 tho) and a Voodoo 2 12MB.
