Like the ones included with the old FX CPU's? Those were fairly good. Needed to keep them clean more frequently as the fins are so close together.
Yep. Though I bought that used for 5EUR so can't say what was the CPU it was bundled, but IIRC the design was pretty similar between Phenom II and FX-8xx0 stock coolers.

Installing an Intel stock cooler is like learning how to ride a bicycle. Once you learn it, it's easy after that :)

Someone once told me that cryptocurrency & BTC trading is actually a "thing" now, highly up in demand. So naturally, I started stockpiling BTC...

IDK guys, I don't feel any richer (nor powerful, for that matter) even after all these acquisitions...

Installing an Intel stock cooler is like learning how to ride a bicycle. Once you learn it, it's easy after that :)I got the hang of it but ine did get broken ofher one must have been btoken when i got it with a motherboard that i got for free.As it was not on the board when he gave it to mr i have never tried to put it on the board
The wimpy new heatsink fans v the beefy old school ones that video was from a few years ago :)New heatsink fans by Intel. From our old mate Linus :)

I saw a ps2 silver slim and a silvrer ps2 controler at the local market today,I did not ask the price. as i got one of the Fat ones from the seller a couple of weeks ago,i dare say it was the same price. It looked in really good shape with no scratchs

Has anyone heard of a new old stock motherboard not working? o_O Three of my PSU,s passed:)I just hope the over board is not D.O.A:(

Can anyone see anything wrong with board? o_O I try other CMOS batteryes from other boards that were working. I just can,t believe that this board does not work.:(I can,t see any blown caps.o_O

It looks like i have another dodge board, the light turns on but nothing else :(.I can,t believe two old new stock boards would not work. :(The light on the motherboard comes on even without the power switch on,o_OSo there is power to the board.I have tried other cmos batters from other working boards,i don,t have any new ones.I will get some new ones and see if that makes a difference.I am not hopefull ,i never expected new boards not to work.:(I will try an SSD with an IDE adapter and see how that goes.

Talking about old parts ,i can,t believe this old board is the only one working, over the two new old stock ones i have. o_O All be it that the SD card IDE adapter only shows 33 mb for a 32gb one.At least it is showing Master and not showing secondary Master. It does work with an CF card so it is ready to be put in a case,But it would have been nice to have got the SD card to work on it.it is 557.Where is everyone? o_O I bought an adapter from CHINA but its not working ,its not worth all the hasle of sending it back it was only £5 . You win some and you loose some, i have lost £10 on those motherboards which i got from my local market.I have orded some CMOS BatteriesI got in touch with the seller and explained the situation of it not working.and said it is not worth me sending it back to CHINA.

Yes! Capacitors can go bad over time, even when not in use.
Can you see any on the boards?o_OAnd what about SD cards does it make any difference to have a Micra card in an adapter on the sd ide adapter ?
or afull size one that does not need one like the one below?

Bad caps don't always leak. Sometimes they just die. Their ESR goes crazy and the internal resistance goes through the roof.

Don't know to be fair. It is possible. Maybe just find 2GB, 4GB or 8GB cards to use. If the card reader is not SDXC compatible you might be limited to 8GB and below.

Phil never mentions any thing about that. o_O

That might not apply to him as his SD to IDE adapter is likely new enough it doesn't matter for him. Not all SD to IDE adapters are created equal.
Compatible with MMC system specification 2.0 , SD Memory Card specification 1.0, SDHC Memory Card.
If the one you have has an older SD card reader chipset, then you might be limited to SDHC cards(upto 32GB). SDXC(above 32GB) and SDUC(2TB+) are the newest standards.

I have no idea. I don't currently have an SD to IDE adapter and I never used anything other than a standard partitioning utility when I did. If you had gone with the CompactFlash to IDE adapter, you'd likely be running fine. The reason is that CompactFlash is native ATA spec, so it is literally a plug & play situation. SD cards need translation and that can be iffy..

Should install like a regular hard drive. Boot from the floppy, run FDisk, partition the card, reboot to floppy, navigate to the CD drive, run setup.
I only have a usb Floppy which i can,t use on there of course. :(

I sent a message to a seller from CHINA i got an adapter from them and told them it did not work.I said to them it is not worth returning it as it only cost five pounds.I would give them a negative feedback saying it did not work. They sent this message back to me
*Dear buyer, What‘s wrong with the item? please tell me more details, could you please do me a little favor to send me a clear photo of the item and Package?I will do my best to solve it for u after checking it, ok?It’s really my honor to serve you*
I was not asking for any money back ,Something can look all right and still not work it looks fine but does not work. You can,t explain to them they don,t understand. o_O

If you are going to collect very old PC parts, you really need a good Solder Station and learn how to diagnose problems.
I don't have the eyes or the Space to do that myself. (or the knowledge)

Not only that, but you also need to know a thing or two about the actual inner workings of that particular unit. Recently, I was given yet another BTC CD-ROM drive, one of those units from my earlier post, where I made a joke about cryptocurrency trading.

I was told by the previous owner that the drive does not eject the tray. It seemed like an easy fix, right? Let's be honest, most of these are made the same way - they're using mechanical reduction through the plastic gears to reduce RPM & increase the torque, along with the rubber belt that's connecting the actual motor & loading mechanism.

But no, this one was made entirely different. Not really much of a surprise ... not to me at least, since I've already had few of these for repairs (as you can probably tell from that photo). But the initial question still remained, and to be honest I was genuinely puzzled to why it didn't want to eject. The whole thing was seized up solid, I literally had to yank the tray manually (with my bare hands) in order to move it out of the way.

That being said, since I already had spare parts laying around from the previous units, I simply removed the drive assembly & placed it inside the other, fully functional loader.

What I didn't expect was to see the differences between the two mechs - the new (seized up) unit was ROL 1323/2, where on the other hand the older one with functional loader had ROL 1318/2. But from what I can tell the two are more or less the same, and indeed they seem to be compatible. I'm going to assume that the main difference (if any) is probably going to be within the actual drive assembly, motor or laser pickup. But since I already kept the original assembly unit, it basically comes down to the same thing.

And as you can probably tell, the whole thing was put back together again & fully tested. Everything seems to be working just fine :)

Only goes to show just how involving these repairs can get, and that you have to be ready for anything...
