And the 694D build received a new HDD. I'm not sure whether this is an upgrade over the 80GB Maxtor 6Y080P0 installed before but I suppose we'll see in time.

Quickly reinstalled XP on the new drive for the dual Coppermine , and got 3dMark01 and 03 running. I did aim for Catalyst 6.2 based Omega drivers though, and I think it's better that I went for the older drivers - 3dMark01 showed quite a bump in score.

I was kinda expecting the low score on 3dMark03  - the CPU tests absolutely ran the P3s into the ground.

And there is more on the way....

I bought my Logitech Wingman new many years ago. I used it to play NFS 3, 4 & 5 so that gives some idea to its age. I still have it & still use it for MSFS2020, even though I also have much newer yoke & pedals.

I need to compare this with my OC-ed Tualatin 1400 that runs over 1600MHz with 6600GT.
I also have an ATI 9800 (dont know the exact model) And i think its in the Pentium 4 HT 3.06GHz machine.

High clock Tualatin will take the win all day in 3DM03. But it's not about having the absolute fastest ST performance on those dual-370 systems, more for having flexibility with modern sets of MT aware software.

I've had the Force 3D one for around 15 years (I don't remember exactly), haven't had any problems other than needing to re-grease all the moving parts because of age. TBF I don't use it very often.
The FFB is a bit of a gimmick though IMO at least in some games, good luck trying to land a shot with the stick rocking side to side (Mechwarrior 4). :D
I might give it a try on some flight sims seems like it'd be pretty nice for those.

Ok, can/have you tested it?

Which stepping though? There's two on that IHS. Weird stuff.
I'll probrably get around to that before long.
Mr. Scott had some good info about it so now I know it's a 3.2 Prescott chip instead of it being a 3.4 like it was binned to be originally.

I can't explain the different steppings though, he probrably could but didn't say anything about that.

Saw an Abit IN9-32X MAX SLI with OCZ CAS4 DDR2 go for an absolute steal on ebay. Would have been tempting but I just don't need another board. Before that, I saw an IX38 QuadGT also go cheap.

Why?

I just saw this abit IP35-E Off Limits Motherboard I have no idea if this item is complete or whether it works - it has been used & has been dry stored at least 7 years. It comes in it's original box with various leaflets it is £17,50 worth taking a punt on it?And should i go for ABIT motherboards do you recomend them.?The box looks in good nickand so does the board.:)

Looks like a nice board. I'm the original owner of my own IP35 Pro and it's still bombproof.

Abits were generally regarded as good overclockers and well made, but like most manufacturers they also had ups and downs.

Did you see any bad caps on there? This is the guys reply about the i/o shield
Thanks for your interest in this item.

*I know virtually nothing about computers so cannot say if it has a i.o. shield ( not even sure what one is!!) - so I think you are probably best to assume it doesn't!
Sorry I can't be more helpful*
Yes i don,t think it does.:( And the ones on ebay don,t seem to be for the same modal .They seem to be from the Neverlandso_OIf you say there are no caps going i will give it a punt.I read a good review of it on a retro site.:)

Nope! Looks good. That board was made after the capacitor plague time-frame.

For that board, don't worry about the IOShield. It is not required for PC operations. It's mostly a cosmetic thing. I'd go for it! Slap a Core2Quad in it and you'll have a great foundation for a retro XP system!

As Lex says, it's no big deal if it doesn't have the IO shield, but if the board is coming in the original box the IO shield might be in there. Great board for a Core2Dou and pretty good with a Core2Quad.
