TPU's Rosetta Milestones and Daily Pie Thread

The way to get new jobs seems to be keep asking for it, in an unfair way. Now three members from the same team Me.... uses the same cron job to fill their buffer to the max, BTW the last jobs were at 11:40 UTC, today so when we stumble over some leftovers we are lucky. Turned in my last jobs today and turned the PC off. When we get back to getting big batches I will be ready

Same thing here. Got a few jobs 3 or 4 days ago ... nothing since. When a large batch of work becomes available I will turn my Rosetta machine back on.

Well well, here we are again! I hope everyone is doing well and here we are for our Rosetta Pie Stats update for the 13th January 2025!!

Well there we are, Pacman attacking like never seen before We are certainly not getting the work I was hoping for from Rosetta just yet but here's hoping, that in a week or so they will have sorted it out or just have more in line for us to attack and such.. Anyways, here we are for the server stats below....

Not too bad but I was hoping to have some more work coming to us by now... Hopefully soon!! Hope everyone is having a good day, take care everyone!!

Well well, a few days without posting the stats up and Rosetta goes quiet... Such a shame, but here we are for an update for Rosetta Pie Stats for the 17th January 2025!!

Here we go!! I see @mstenholm has taken away the stats by storm as always!! Leave some for the rest of us!! There doesn't seem to be masses going on for the stats which is a shame, but here we are for the server stats as we do now

Some work has been added but it doesn't seem to be masses and not everyone seems to be getting any which is a shame but we are slowly making it forward!! I hope everyone is doing well and is OK?? Hopefully a nice day of crunching will help us push a little forward again!! Hope to see you all again tomorrow for another update!! Take care everyone!!

Here we are for a quick Rosetta Pie Stats update for the 18th January 2025!!

Well there we are, our one man getting all the credit!! Great work @mstenholm !! I do wonder what Rosetta's servers are going to be like shortly... And here they are...

And somewhat disappointing with the lower numbers but I hope these go up sometime, so we can all have a go!! Wonder who will be up there tomorrow..... I hope everyone has had a good weekend! Take care and see you all tomorrow for other update I hope!!

Well well, there we are guys and gals, not bad numbers today There seems to be more queued jobs in the queue compared to yesterday's stats but we don't seem to be getting anywhere for it.. Have a peak for yourselves with the server stats below -

So I'm curious if we are going to get a mass dump of like 300,000 jobs or even more.. I've seen sometimes we get a dump of 3 million jobs, so that we can get through pretty quickly!! Good job we can entertain ourselves with a few other things as well as Rosetta

Well here we are, seems there's been some movement with the Rosetta Pie Stats, so thought best we'd give you all an update or two Here we are for the Rosetta Pie Stats for the 20th January 2025!!

Well there we are, 4 members being able to return some work for Rosetta, nicely done everyone!! It might be down to the fact that the server stats has a little surprise in tale for us....

Not bad do you think?? Wondering what it might be like for the next few days but here's hoping there's going to be some nice numbers I live in hope!! I hope everyone is doing well and is OK! See you very shortly.........

As I've got one more update for you all as well!! Here we are with the FAH Pie Stats for the 21st January 2025!!

Well, there we go, 5 members today instead of the 4 from yesterday A bit of a score increase as well, nicely done everyone!! As for the server stats again, here we go!!

Not much of a decrease which is possibly a good thing, might mean we have a few more stats for tomorrow??... Here's hoping!! Well, as always everyone, I hope you are all doing well and are OK! Hope to see you in the next update, hopefully tomorrow! Take care and see you soon with some luck!!

Well here we are another day and some more Rosetta Stats for the 22nd January 2025!!

Well there we are, its nice to see some more members being able to get some work and getting the points but if the server stats are going down, I wonder how long it will be until we can all start joining in?.... Here we are for the server stats......

Well, I don't think that will take too long to get through so I do hope we can make something nice happen soon enough with Rosetta sending out a mass load of jobs.. Electric is a little cheap tonight, so gonna get one or two rigs running, might see if we can get some work to start with or even just manage to carry on with a few other projects I'm working with

Now a few days wait but here we are again with the Rosetta Pie Stats for the 24th January 2025!!

Well there we go!! A solid and great number of contribution for our little 4 man team today!! Amazing effort and work everyone, that's seriously great news!! It seems the server stats are a little lower than the last time we updated the stats, so I'm curious where all the jobs have been coming if they have been already sent out...

We or I suppose don't have to ask, we'll just take the points and carry on and wait for some more!! It's great work everyone, thank you for the continued support and I hope we'll be back again soon to update everyone soon!! Take care everyone!!

I re-added my main PC and my Linux box. I switched to Q4OS to run Boinc on the Linux box. It's the most user-friendly distro so far and it's light.

Has anybody tried Gridcoin?

No, but I suspect that you have drownload problems on your Linux box.

From the Rosetta forum:
How do I add the DNS changes mentioned previously to my hosts file on Ubuntu to get the downloads working?

Answer -
sudo nano /etc/hosts

and add this line at the bottom

128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org

Other solutions were suggested but this one was the easiest.

Worked for me back in December 2024 and still bypass the server with an expired certificat.

Well hello again everyone!! Here we have a nice Rosetta Pie Stats update for the 25th January 2025!!

Well there we go, very nice work everyone!! I have a feeling that the below stats aren't telling us everything here but do you think we are in for a bit of a boost in work for Rosetta soon??..... I'd love to hope so!! Here's the server stats....

So now we are getting lower but not as low as before... We'll see if we can make it tomorrow with a nice big update!! I hope everyone is doing well and is OK....

@xrobwx71 great news on the testing!! Please let us know if you manage to gain some extra points and or efficiency with that setup!! Massive thanks to you as well @mstenholm for the fix!! Hope you are going to be back again tomorrow for another update...!! Take care everyone!!

Well sadly there's no Rosetta Pie Stats updates for today but there is something that I wished to share with you all, which are the server stats....

Sounds like maybe someone was listening to our posts!! Wonder how long these will last with the likes of @mstenholm @xrobwx71 and @Toothless ....... Time to fill your boots everyone!! Can't wait to see you tomorrow for hopefully an update!!

I noticed a couple of jobs had made it to my PCs but sadly I think there was some errors with the computation, finished within 30 seconds of starting sadly... I'll keep you posted.....

Well, well!! Now there's a nice decent way to start off the day with Rosetta Pie giving us a decent return!! Nice work everyone, really great to see!! Now here we are with the server stats so far... I'm wondering if the usual suspects have taken a few more than what was posted up yesterday........

Well, seems like they have!! I'm sure it won't take them long to get through them either which is always great to see but please guys, leave some for the rest of us!! I hope everyone is doing well today and is OK?? I hope to see you all back again tomorrow, it seems we might have some points in bound which is great to see and have!! And there we are everyone, what a great day of Rosetta that is!! Outstanding efforts from out top 3 contributors today - @mstenholm @Toothless and @xrobwx71 !! Great work from @Arjai @NastyHabits and @Peter1986C as well, I think I've had some Rosetta on my machine but I think with it trying to do 3 types of project with the little time its on, its not getting anything finished, so will have to adjust that I think..... Still, I digress, time to go take a look at those server stats.....

And there we go, just over 2.1 million queued jobs to go... Can't say they'll take too long so I'm going to guess if they don't get replenished, we'll have maybe 10 to 11 days contributions there??.... We;ll see if that works out or not!!

Great work everyone, hope to see you back again tomorrow for another update!! I hope to get some points on the board myself if I'm lucky!!

@phill Remeber that today is Wednesday - the cleaning day where all goes to pending. You have 31 WUs waiting to be validated so you did complete some.

Well well, here we go... Another Rosetta Pie Stats update for the 30th January 2025!!

Well well, there's a smoking bit of data if I ever saw!! Great work everyone, the top three kicking bottom as always, great job there guys!! @mstenholm @Toothless and @xrobwx71 !! Here we also have some lovely data called the server stats as well.....

And there we have it, it's down from yesterday around 200,000 jobs, yesterday... I wonder if @mstenholm @Toothless and @xrobwx71 will have most of those Amazing efforts guys and gals, I hope to see you all again tomorrow for another update!! Take care of yourselves!!

@mstenholm I wished they'd cleaned up a bit sooner!! I hope we can gain a load more points and jobs from the servers whilst they still got some!! 31 isn't bad considering some of them have been crashing after 10 to 30 seconds....

Yes, Rosetta beta 6.06 (and 6.05) produces plenty of errors. I got 160 the past two-three days and only two were the original Rosetta ones. The good thing about the beta is they run 10-20 seconds before erroring out as you pointed out. My other two took 9 hour CPU time.

And this is just how amazing our team is at TPU for Rosetta, 8 members and over 264,000 points for the day!! If only we had some more work every day, just imagine!!! Well as expected, there's been a bit of a drop in the queued jobs for the server, here's the stats....

So about a 400,000 drop from when I posted last (29th January... I had to go back, couldn't remember!! ) but its just so great we are managing to push this much with so many members for our little team, I do wonder what the other teams are like for their contributions, I wonder if we have a higher average of contribution from the number of members... Might have to see if I can find anything out on that..... Still, just so happy, so please do and try to keep up the amazing work!! Hopefully not spanners in the works for any of us!! Take care everyone!!

I didn't check the entire list here but we are placed high. One of the high ranked ones, Media Database have 45 active (higher RAC than 10) which give them an average RAC of 6090, We are ranked 15 but with 8 active our per active person RAC is 13190, so we are placed competitive

Well well everyone, here we are again with another round or two of Rosetta Pie Updates!! Here we go for the 1st February 2025!!

Well, there we go, nearly 370,000 points for one day for Rosetta and the top three smashing it out the park with over 102,000 points at least each!! If that's not a cause to celebrate, then I have no idea what is!! Outstanding work gentlemen!! To top it off as well, here we go for the server stats updates.....

Must have drained a load when we did all the work above!! Outstanding work gentlemen!! I hope that with days like these, those Rosetta gods are smiling at us!! Amazing effort and day, so massive thanks to you all for the contributions!! TPU I think is one of the smaller teams but my god do we make it up in for can do attitude!! Hope to see you all again in the next update, massive thanks again to you all!!
