TPU's WCG/BOINC Team

Here's a hint. After trying a manual update, click on "Tools/Event Log" and you'll see status messages like "Mapping Cancer Markers not available". Saves you endless clicking.
I tend to leave it along to be honest but when I'm looking for work there's generally some there, as the rest of the machines have a few days worth... Confusing in a way :-)
That's why I went with older Xeons on the server. Wanted to at least double from the previous so 2x 2680v2 to 2x 2698v4 and everything else. Sure it clocks low but 80 threads that can chooch through WCG and the likes while enough left over for my personal stuff. Funny my 5950x beats it in multithread.

On and used is cheap. That was big part cept' for the board. Standard ATX for dual socket is spendy.
I found the wattage used is horrendous for the performance it gives, its such a shame :( As always the newer stuff is better if you can get it but its not cheap and the cost of AM4 boards as well, seems to have near doubled for me.. The Hero 6 or 7 boards I bought for my Crunchers and my girls, have gone up by a fair whack of cash... Not impressed for when you are looking to try and do some giveaways!! :(

Well, since WCG is not sending out anything, I loaded up my old profile at Folding@Home, until WCG get around to working again.

Is anyone else seeing no upload of completed work but no pending transfers in the transfer tab??.... Just collected the results and WCG hasn't updated this morning and two of my crunchers are stuck with no uploading of work and have nothing left to crunch...

Kinda frustrating but seems in tune with how WCG seems to be in 2023...... :(

@phill Same here. My eventlog shows no new work and no uploads of completed work for many hours. Methinks 'tis the weekend and no one is minding the store.

It broke and no one is there over the weekend I'm guessing... Maybe its a service contract and the fix time is up to 7 working days........ :( So frustrating :(

EDIT - Well judging by the error message in the WCG logs somethings missing....

Wonder if there's a bit of a simple fix here or if its a complete uh oh situation for them??... Hopefully the first option....

According to Free-DC stats there's not been an update since Saturday evening...

So, I wonder how long this will take to fix.......

Who is this Andy Davidson? 'Contribute elsewhere?' WTF?

At last. All my finished work has been uploaded and I have a full load of current and future work loaded and crunching! :)

I can say that they have started pushing more work out now :) Just before I shut down one of my machines I had noticed that all the pending jobs had gone and uploaded, so happy days! Well, hopefully for a little longer next time....

It's Faceache mate, full of numpties I think... There's always arguments on WCG's pages regarding the uptime of the servers and so on for whatever reason... It's getting a little old in the tooth so to speak so I just try to go there if there's a problem. Sadly Twitter is so limiting, I think you need to be logged in to view anything....

Hopefully I'll be getting things updated tonight, got End Game to watch again... 3 hours though.... phew!!

I agree with him, TBH. Complaining about downtime doesn't solve anything. IMO it's better to give your crunchers something else to do rather than kvetch that they're not getting WCG jobs. Other projects need CPU time, too.

Agreed mate :) We all say its a pain but if we wanted there's always others that we can turn our attentions too :) I've just started Einstein myself..... I'm always hoping for some luck for Rosetta at some point.....

Morning/Afternoon/Evening all!! :D

Has anyone else recently noticed that the WCG Tasks are no longer being picked up and removed from the list when they have been completed? I've no transfers to complete as I presume they have all been uploaded, but nothing is going from the Tasks tab in Boinc.....

Just wished to check in and see if anyone has the same issue.... Seems points are down as well which is a bit of an indicator that something not working right WCG end......... Again..... :(

There were five seperate threads on the WCG forum on that topic. You are not the only one that found out that all is not well :ohwell:. I changed my settings a week ago (inceasing the buffer) but it never took affect so I had less than 1½ hour buffer this morning when powering up. That's way I know about the five threads.

Same here.

I've got running tasks, a healthy WU queue, but also a rather large report queue. Presumably it'll get sorted when folks return from the weekend.

same here been stuck on 2'990'360 for a few days while crunching up to today but no work incoming .:( but sad really just could not find the emoji.

Thanks gents for replying back to let me know, I'm glad its not just me in a way!! I've seen when trying to get some update regarding todays work, nothing has worked and nothing has updated from any of my PCs today, so been doing some other crunching as well...

Found even Milkyway hasn't been working correctly for a while either, so that's on halt as well for me... Frustrating but there we go :) Believe Milkway are transferring the data to another server... We'll see how that goes for them.. Hopefully not too much longer :)

im up and running normal now "fingers crossed eh"

Yep , results have been uploaded. Not many tasks up an running at the moment.
le:wet touchscreen.

Found that the uploads had gone but nothing had been downloaded as such... Guess we'll be waiting for that bit....

Huh. Apparently, my buffers were full when this latest molasses in January started.:

Got a trickle of new tasks on a couple of machines about an hour ago from the looks of it. Hopefully they ramp that up. This is MCM1

MCM be trickling some more than a handful on this end, for those you night owls.
Did a curios check before "pulling the plug" out the rig.

Stopped getting tasks for Einstein a few day ago, but these work units are long!! :) The GPU ones seem to be OK but think these might take a little while before they complete! Running on one of my 5900X's for the moment.....
