Tweak for problems with 5xxx cards in 2d windows mode

I fixed the scaling issue by buying a new monitor with a 1:1 mode. lol.

And I can't disable crossfire on my X2 anyway. And it is unpleasant, to say the least. That's why I'm waiting to see what Fermi has to offer before I buy a new card. Despite my issues, a 5870 is still tempting, despite only being a cross-grade performance wise. Still, I think holding out for fermi is a wise choice, if for no other reason than to incite a price war.

Ah I see, well Im not gonna point out which card to choose from, I figure you would know more than me about computer tech but the HD5870 is a great choice, coming from personal experience :toast:

The Hd5870 is a great card man, but I would still wait and see wat nvidia'a fermi have in store, either way, Im going nvidia when they release, cant wait!

The thing that bugs me most there is no way to turn CF off for specific game like you can do with SLi. You need to go to CCC and manually unclick the CFX box, then drivers do full reset with black screen and fan ramps up for while. Then CF is off for all games. Either or with AMD where as NVIDIA CP game profiles let you choose the number of GPUs on the fly for each game seemlessly.

I`v had customer that I build two exact machines for i5/P55/ASUS 5750 and one of them was artifacting and VPU recover while on desktop and stable 12 hours of GPU tool strees test. So it was not stable at 2D clocks so we replaced the card.

It looks like it's a complex problem. Something between ATI hardware/software and Seven latest updates. At least those guys think so.

Whenever I installed the other driver I used to get a "Finished with Errors" message at the end. With this driver I got no such error.
It's quite rare but occasionally when I'm in 2D I get "driver stopped and has recovered" error. We'll see if I get this now...

i definitely agree that SLI is ahead of crossfire, as far as multi GPU setups go. ATI needs to shamelessly copy their ideas.
