U.S. Legislators Including AOC Come Down Hard on Activision-Blizzard on Blitzchung Ban

What a can of rotten worms. I'm happy to talk about my observations as a foreign worker who works in China. Discussions like these, however, reminds me I should go back to reading hardware reviews and daydream about my next build

I wouldn’t put much stock in this statement by 3 Reps and 2 Senators. They aren’t speaking on behalf of either part of Congress. It’s 5 people with similar agendas making publicity. That’s right, it was put out for publicity purposes.

It’s for the voters at home who are dumb as rocks, because they willl think “wow, so and so is doing something good!” All of the Representatives and Senators do it, both parties. So we can yawn this statemnt off as the nothing that it is and move on.

Well in the case of AOC, she actually is trying to do something good, she didn't except any campaign donations from corporations to get elected like the others, a first in history if I am not mistaken.

Why the GOVERNMENT cares so much about the action of a HK e-sports player whose action was taken on FOREIGN LAND。

Because it has Chinese government influence written all over it.

US companies bending the knee to the Chinese; selling out principles of free speech and democracy for the sake of greedy profits.

They only need to announce Diablo 4 in next blizzcon and then all of us will forget and forgive everything and we will run like good sheep to give them more money. Companies are really bad these days but all the low IQ customers are even worse.
I'll be pleased even if they relese a redux of Diablo I and II with modern 3D graphics, but keeping the same gameplay. I'll buy that with my eyes closed!

There is one thing TPU doesn't tolerate, and that is cussing. Just for future reference. The s-word and the f-word mainly. Others they generally let slide.

Also, politics is generally not allowed most topics here, only in The Lounge sub-forum. Hope you enjoyed today's class snugglebears.

This is rich coming from someone who isn't even a mod.....

right because being on a website for 5 years, I learned absolutely nothing about how the mods work around here. when someone got modded for cussing I just look away... you so right bruh. welcome to my ignore list.

Isnt her CoS the founder of two PACs that helped her financially and they also share the same lawyer. Politician being a politician, saying one thing to the public and doing as much as one can to get ahead.

I would need a few links to read and decide for myself how true or not. To lazy to google at the moment, getting burned out on politics.

They parted ways around August. He was in the news a lot. The biggest one was the when he tried to call other Dem Rep racist on twitter, got deleted of course. One of her other staffers that also left is starting another PAC would be interesting to see if that PAC turns out to be a big help for her 2020 campaign.

OK, let's look at this from another point of view. Basically, some government men think that an entertainment platform business "should mix" political issues in their activities, especially if it's delicate. However, a social networking platform business "should not mix" its content with politics even if it is just a presidential election. That's it? Well, these Congressmen and Senators have to make up their minds, because if Activision-Blizzard did it wrong then Facebook was always right; but if Facebook was never correct, then Activision-Blizzard did well.

Facebook is a platform that was responsible for running propaganda during a presidential campaign that was paid for by foreign governments. Blizzard censured an esports player, including taking back winnings, because he said something that China didn't like. The two situations couldn't be further from the same. Like, not even remotely the same issues at stake. Your false equivalencies belie bias, methinks.

Actually, it seems like the congressmembers are being consistent. Foreign censoring and propaganda is not okay for American companies to be part of. That makes a lot more sense than the yarn you were weaving.

this happens when you mix gaming with politics ... the result is not good for anyone involved

i understand both involved parts and in this case blizz should only banned Blitzchung ; he appeared on official stream not a private one knowing he'll be in trouble..that's the risk of free speech unfortunately..
