Unlocked Realtek HD Audio Drivers for Windows 10 (Dolby Digital Live/DTS Interactive)

Has anyone else noticed Windows 10 is now overwriting 3rd party audio drivers, despite the "Pause Updates" being enabled in the settings???

As soon as I install the patched "0009-64bit_Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R282.exe" drivers, within a couple of minutes, they're gone!



Would I have more luck installing Windows 11? This driver's ability to retain DTSI/DDL 5.1 is pretty much the only reason i've stayed on 10 this long...

Have you blocked updates based on VID via Group Policy?
If I do that nothing gets through (so far - but I'm on W11Pro)

Ok, thanks for the link to the guide. I followed it, but my Driver still got deleted & I ended up with no sound by whatever replaced it.

That's unfortunate...You need to make sure you got the right Vendor ID blocked. It's also helpful to do this with your network disconnected or in safe mode.
Basically keep deleting the driver that overrides what you want with the network disconnected until it stays unidentified then install the driver you want and then block the VID

Maybe someone else has a better idea

Yeah I selected the 2nd one on the list, as instructed.

It's also helpful to do this with your network disconnected or in safe mode.

Basically keep deleting the driver that overrides what you want with the network disconnected until it stays unidentified then install the driver you want and then block the VID

Disconnected from internet & uninstalled the old driver using DDU in Safe mode. Then reinstalled new driver, restarted PC (still offline), then edited the registry & included existing hardware (Retroactive set to 1).

I wonder if the event logs show something here.. btw I have a Gigabyte Aorus X470 Gaming motherboard with the Realtek chipset on there ALC1220

I just registered here to write this :-

This all crap just doesn't work as intended or as its supposed to be, means even after all these patches and cracks you are only limited to stereo channels via the SPDIF/Optical of your motherboard. Because windows(Win1020H2 here) cant detect 5.1 support for your mobo optical output in the 1st place so the games audio engine as well. All you get is 2 channel through your receiver even though it shows dolby digital on the AV receiver.

So in my opinion just don't waste your valuable time for this $h!TT instead go for analogue if your mobo has it or get a dedicated soundcard which does the realtime encoding of DDL or DTS such as creative X-Fi Sound Cards etc..

It's working absolutely perfect for me - despite being a hack. Even much better than any soundcard I had before which included official DDL support, like The Auroen 7.1, wehre I sometimes had to reinstall and fiddle with the driver and settings for making it work again. Opposed to this thre was no single issue since I installed the drivers on my ALC887 chipset and it even does not have any notable latency (which was annoyingly strong on the old C-Media chip!). Set the drivers to DTS Connect once and done. Working ever since.
Maybe it's not compatible to your codec., but hits doesn't make it 'shit'.

Pretty sure not. I installed this driver on one PC and it was working fine, including DDL.
Then I could not believe it was working so easily and so wanted to check back if my Realtek chip in this PC really did not actually have DDL enabled already from manufacturer.
So I uninstalled the working mod driver, installed the standard driver, and checked the settings panel.True, DDL was not there with the standard driver.
Of course I then uninstalled the stock driver the second time and installed the mod driver again.
All this with no issue. Like a perfectly normal driver installation
(All this on Windows 10 btw, and of course each step with reboots in between!)

If you want to be even more 'save' you could backup your registry in advance if you like, there are free tools for this, lilke for example EasUS RegScrub.

im already useing someone elts apo drivers for dolby digital out over usb to optical it works well but i want any and all system enahcements from dolby digital plus hometheater v4

I don't think that's even in there. At least I cannot see a trace of it in my ASUS branded Realtek control panel. The driver's version is 6.0.1.8004.
