Now i'd tell again, buy a PS6, it's near to be ready.

It's not, my 6600GT broke, i buyed another same while repaired, after i set SLI, it doesn't works, game must be optimised for it to engage.... between others complications

It's not mere core count here, the architectural and generation difference is huge between the two.

SLi hasn't been a thing for more than a decade now, in fact no graphics manufacturer supports multi GPU for gaming anymore

IPC is a HUGE factor. SLI has been dead for YEARS. You really need to just go do your own research.

Unless you are doing professional work two cards will not work in 99% of modern games SLI died over a half decade ago.

Even if SLI wasn't dead a 4090 would still be faster in most games due to scaling you typically only got 50-60% scaling and worse frame times vs having one card.

Yeah, if the OP is this clueless about hardware and games over the last decade but also owns a 7700X/4090 something doesn't add up......

They were awesome 8 ish years ago, today not so much. Nothing wrong with asking questions but the difference between the cpu's in question is pretty vast it would be a major downgrade and nothing this generation would offer anything meaningful at above 1080p gaming.... Games still don't scale well beyond 8 cores, cache and ipc/ST are king.

However, if you want a CPU upgrade, the 7900x or 7950x are viable upgrades on AM5

Only if he is doing a lot of core heavy productivity work for gaming you couldn't blindly tell them apart even a 7800X3D/7950X3D are hard to blindly tell from a 5950X/5800X except for in a few games and at 1080p or lower.

What i found is that x3d perhaps fixes stutter, bc i've no stutter ans read a lot users complaining
