Iirc my X570 Dark Hero still have the anti-surge option in the bios. I have never had any issues with it. And afaik it is meant to handle external surges (usb, ethernet, display if your motherboard have those) more than internal psu surges. I am willing to attribute some of the reports online to undiagnosed external sources. But nothing is perfect and people do not post about it unless it is failing after all.
