Western Digital Debuts World's First SSD+HDD Dual Drive

This could be interesting. A setup you can use is have a SSD with the multiplayer games installed on it for the best performance and have the offline games installed on the dual drive; and with the offline games the ones you play the most would have first priority on the SSD side of the dual drive.

To be critical though this isn't the first drive of it's kind as there is the OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid 1TB PCI-E SSD which also has a 2.5" 1TB drive backed up by a 120GB SSD. That one does connect into the PCI-E slot which does offer some interesting performance.

I wanna resurrect another PC but the HDD died in it (along with the GPU that works meh and it's got some other issues) and I want a hybrid setup since this would be good for HTPCs. This or the linked one you mentioned would be awesome. PCI-E looks even better.

gawd, where have they been all this time. Sometimes I wonder who runs these companies. Big SSDs are fast coming down in price.

We needed stuff like this 2-3 years ago when SSD storage was so expensive.

Although, they will probably be attractive for OEMs who build laptops/desktops and write on the spec sheet "SSD 1TB storage" The average consumer will get sucked in thinking its a 1TB SSD.

first dual 2.5 drive not the first dual drive

Forget those hybrid abominations. Where are the cheap 1TB PCIe SSDs ? We need 2GB/s for reads to go mainstream :D

Good idea done wrong and priced the same as a full 512 SSD? Blah. I already have a power saving desperately slow HDD. Why would I pay nearly 300 bucks for another one? Because of a cheap as hell FLASH drive?

I can get one of these, Amazon Link, and save 260 bucks!!
