It's the simplicity of the game that I appreciate.
There are no nauseating characters, no corny dialogue and zero storyline. Who needs all that in an arcade racer anyway?

I have to admit to thinking you posted a screenshot of the latest NFS - with a strong basis in nauseatingly bad characters taking part in what appears to be illogical playacting, ie bad actors in abysmal plot structure. We are firmly on the same page!

There is progression yes, and the naughtier you are, in terms of pissing off the cops, your reputation as a wanted outlaw increases, opening up more death defying pursuits and access to more cars.
For me it's a white knuckle racer that puts you in the driver's seat without any fanfare and you just race. I'm not very good and the addition of spike strips, EMPs, extra turbo, nitrous and jammers add to the spice.

All of which sounds exactly as great as I expected. There are even physical releases for PC and Wii from the age of wonder preceding IOT. From the looks of it they are basically two entirely different games. That could be great or twice as bad.

Off to do some research whether this will run on W11 under XP compatibility mode. Since the modern iteration of this publisher is slightly less than palatable.

I'm running NFS HP Remastered on Windows 11 and no compatibility is required. It just works :)
Besides, it's a relatively new game and I also have the original on EA with no tweaking required. I don't think the original is available any longer though.

Wii version is awful as expected. Physical copy for PC is only a few bucks so I might try it.

Almost forgot I owned Snowrunner. Almost forgot how bad the DLC cashgrab limited advancement in a fun and progressive manner. What I didn't forget is how over the top dev went offsetting their bottom line with modding capabilities. Sky is the limit including full maps like the ones of Australia with proper Bogan antics some nutter is on the verge of surpassing a lot of paid content with.

Caught wind of that Aussie wonder and new update this morning. So I snuck in a few minutes of getting reacquainted with the base game and managed to find the hidden in plain sight screenshot function.

How many physics balls have you achieved?

Not entirely sure I understand what you asking. I'll attempt what might be a typo?

One thing they did get right was letting you winch together as many vehicles and trailers as your lead vehicle's engine can haul down as steep a slope as it could realistically hold back the weight behind. Without looking like a set of physics balls as momentum transfers to the front.

There are a few physics fails as well like tall objects passing through power lines. Mostly this topic centers around rewarding visual and control feedback in Mudrunner that was isn't present in Snowrunner. Frame twist and how it impacted vehicle travel or contact with the ground is a good example of intuitive gameplay items dumbed down in the sequel.

Sidenote: I got a laugh this big update yesterday added over a dozen Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun stickers (decals) you can plaster vehicles with. Talk about a crossover sales tactic into uncommon markets.

can someone with a 7900 xt or xtx test starcraft 2 for me? apparently there is some issue with vram downclocking in that game, making it not run right, even at stock.

want to verify before my 7900 xt arrives... because I play starcraft 2 a lot still... sigh...
uhmmm a 7900xt ?? i feel the itch, for thiccness

As always, bouncing around a few games at the same time. Tonight is Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. (finished A Theif's End)

man I am impressed you can bounce around like that. i can't finish games unless i stay focused on one, (only allowance is if there is a card game like Monster Train I will play as a "second game") - but imo its not really a second game, its just quick card game fun.

I've probably got a few more going than I should at the moment. My brain just kind of works that way where I need to have a couple of things going on so that I can concentrate. I usually have a number of tasks going on at work at the same time, but when I have to focus on one particular project/item at a time, I need music going or else I just kind of zone out.

That alone is a deal breaker. F*&K DRM. EA, get killed!

I re-bought Dragon Age Origins on GoG for $4 two weeks ago. :)

Should be great on the gtx 1070 I just cleaned up.

You have plenty of power to spare for the game. The first time that I played DAO was on a i5 2500 and a GTX 580. It ran fine. Your rig would run circles around ancient hardware like that.

well, my goal is 165hz 165 fps 1440p maxed out, no mods. I think that combined with a 5800x3d, it will be able to pull that off though. Probably just barely though. We will see soon. I got half my rig done, taking a break now. I will finish the other half soon. Then clean install, probably test it out around 5am. I don't plan to sleep tonight. I am curious to now, to see temps, fps, etc.

My guess is the 5800x3d is going to carry the 1070 to the finish line, simply because of the x3d cache, lol

The EGS Star Wars holiday giveaway fiasco is still fresh in my mind. Not hard to figure out what sort of toxic environment drove so many people to indie games.

I believe Snowrunner is famous for violently launching you across the map in a whirling ball of metal due to some quirk of the physics engine.

It's a pain in the rear but what to do if it's not available anywhere else? There are no NFS games on GOG and on every other platform such as Steam or Game Pass, the crappy EA app is mandatory.

Just leaving the roads of Palm City in NFS Heat
Finished 100 % of the game in approx 40 hours
At first, i really don't like it, strange physics, boring cops at low levels ...
but with some time to get used to, the game became easy and really fun !
Great choice of cars, nice graphics and superb sounds (not music, i've disabled it), lots of fun with personalisation, and the inevitables "activities" like Forza Horizons (speed traps, jumps etc ...)

Now i'm heading Southern America with Lara Croft in Shadow of the tomb Raider

12 hours into Borderlands 3, playing maxed out at 4K on the 7900 XT at 3.1ghz with a 400w uncapped power limit doing 85-130 FPS is kinda crazy.

To think that I've put around 800 hours into BL 3 when I had my RX 570 and had to play with a mix of medium-high settings and still had some big drops when things heated up at end game.
Now it runs perfectly tho at my capped fps with no drops to notice/maxed out settings minus volumetric fog on medium cause its a useless performance hog setting. 'ofc there is the occasional UE 4 stutter but it runs much better now'

@Space Lynx

Sometimes I still regret selling my EVGA FTW ACX 3.0 GTX 1070. 'couldn't afford my 3060 Ti otherwise.. same dude bought my 1070 who I bought the 3060 Ti from and I like simple/easy deals so I went with it'
It was still playing most of the games I was playing at the time, mainly upgraded cause of Cyberpunk and The Plague tale requiem/+ whatever else more demanding future games.
Most likely I could still use that card to play Diablo 4 with at decent settings too.

O ye about that first 1000 lvl 100 in D4/hardcore.
Yeah that aint happening for me thats for sure, I'm not gonna play HC in a game I'm not familiar with that would be madness.
I do play HC in D3 for years now and I've only lost a few chars but I know that game well enough by now + HC in D3 is not that big of a deal anyway with the cheat death passives.
That and I'm planning to take my time with D4 during my first playthrough,I don't like to rush that in any new game. 'thats for the later seasonal plays/chars'

I'm soon finishing Godfall story mode and then I will do some max level content. Honestly I'm having a decent fun with the game, regardless how badly it was received at relase.
Very simple/minimalistic story but the actual game is fun to play imo and the story playthrough from lvl 1 was a good way to learn the game cause there is more mechanics than I thought. 'timed attacks/combos and whatnot'
Godfall1.jpg

Trying out a different Valorplate, theres 12 in total. Game also has some pretty nice cosmetics to unlock via in game challenges and whatnot so thats something I might be interested in.

@Super Firm Tofu @Sithaer

here is your chance to be immortalized. in 5 million years when the next species comes along and is digging out human history, they will come across the statue, and it will be restored by their archaeologists, placed at the front of a museum like the Rosetta Stone at the British Museum.

Oh, I play a lot of games.

And I have a chonky gaming computer (two actually).

Yeah and thats also a reason, tbh I've never considered myself a good gamer either. 'I'm not even competitive in the first place, not really my nature nowadays'
The only thing I'm somewhat good at is looking up guides/all kind of info about the games I'm playing in a more in depth way if I play a game for a long time or plan to. 'I just like to know how my games work/whats behind the mechanics, etc'
