What are you playing?

Then I think you'd like Detroit as well. Don't listen to the reviews, I'm sure all those bad ones were written by people who only know CS and CoD.

I referenced reviews that included a lot of gameplay and it didn't really interest me. I didn't even know Heavy Rain existed until I looked at everything they did. The trailer peaked my interest so I picked it up.

Funny, it was quite the opposite for me :
Done Heavy Rain on PS3, and I was like : OK, not so bad but not as great as reviews says (for me ofc !)
Then, not very hot for Detroit, but it was free on the PS+, so why not giving a try ?
Tried and liked it, the story, a slightly better gameplay ... like Quantic Dreams has found the perfect formula ...
Tastes and colors :)

To be fair, I didn't know Heavy Rain existed before this conversation. :D

I've just checked it out on Steam. It doesn't look too bad, but it seems to be missing some kind of supernatural, or sci-fi, or something extra that would make it a proper Quantic Dream game in my eyes. Dunno.

Since Ace Combat X gets decent reviews by me I'm excited to play Ace Combat Joint Assault but my excitement is cut short... here how it goes. When first starting the game it let you select who to be your broadcaster; two guy and two woman. The guy is one from USA and the other is British, the woman is from Finland and Japan if I'm not mistaken. This is odd, it never happen in any AC series here, something is weird so I just select the chick with 'a sweet voice' because why not. During mission briefing it plays AC3 mission briefing music, another odd one since usually AC series have theme for each of their series, they all sounds unique and when you listen to it you immediately know which one. It's like they try to play with nostalgic feelings for some reason, I already raised my eyebrow at this point.

Then when I actually get in the mission and I try to roll and get the feel of the plane but...like what the fuck why wont it...oh God no this gives HAWX and ACAH (Assault Horizon) PTSD because the control is set to Normal. This won't allow you to roll the aircraft. I select to Expert quickly and try to forget such setting ever existed. Then I come to another that ruins the fun, camera is very janky idk how to describe it it's like it won't turn fast enough (like HL2 weapon sway). It also sometime changing focal length depending on speed of aircraft and the vicinity of the enemy. It's very distracting.

I always pick hard difficulty, but the hard setting here feels like pu**y setting. It's unbelievably easy, everything feels and moves like in slow motion in a weird way. First aircraft is the usual F4E Phantom that been given QAAM (quick maneuver air-to-air missile). Out of any AC series the QAAM in this is very VERY good. Only one missile shot trashed out of 20 missile I shot throughout 4 missions. It usually A LOT lower like 1 trashed out of 3 or 5, as this isn't a super weapon. Another let down in the second mission it mentions Japan. Wait, what? this isn't in strangereal? :banghead:

Music in-game is the final nail in the coffin. It sounds like CoD or MoH, and on mission 6 in Egypt, the first part of the mission plays the typical desert soundtrack, it's alright but the second part after you get ambushed all of the sudden rock music with vocals comes out. It's sound so out of place and after this mission I already lost my will to continue playing. Why...WHY must it comes to this?? o_O

The first time I saw Heavy Rain was in the PC store. I asked the clerk what Game that was and went home and downloaded it. I got stuck trying to get into the Police Station and then I think a Total War Game was released and I never looked back.

Personally I hated that it was so long a PS3 exclusive. Had to get it instantly when I got a PS3 though :)

I started playing Once Human. It's free to play and pretty good so far. My brother got me playing it.

I started playing Once Human
I've got that game, but haven't played it yet.

Hmm, I might just get it downloaded and start playing. :toast:

Currently going through resident evil revelations 2.... barry's story eh...

I fired up DOOM3 BFG, with all praise for the reboot installments, nothing beats this. I felt so much nostalgia walking around listening to audio logs....
Doom3 ain't Doom3 without EAX IMO. The sound is so damn good it just feels different without it, if I wanted to showcase what EAX could do this is the few games I would recommend. There is a mod to enable EAX in BFG edition from what I read but I never tried it.

just finished Legacy of Thieves from Uncharted Collection of Thieves. Truly fascinating ending, final battle was intense and well crafted.

Currently started episode 4 in Life is Strange 2 @ PS4. Probably have more coffee and Platinum this on this night.

edit: And we have Platinum'd it. Actually hella better game than I thought at first playthrough.

Farthest Frontier on the 7800X3D. I'm sitting at 500 pops now, and still seeing 55 FPS.
Fuck yeah

Almost finished replaying Warcraft 3 (not the reforged version), interestingly HAGS helps this game a lot in smoothness. I still feel HAGS main benefit is with old obsolete coding practices where one thread was overloaded in games, but it seems to only get tested on new games by reviewers.

After this I need to go back to my rerun of tales of zesteria to finish farming ultimate equipment and its NG+ chaos run. Probably will have to relearn timings etc. as my temporary break from it ended up being several months.
Before that I took a brief break from Lightning returns which I think is close to a year at this point, thats a game where you forgot various things after not playing it a while. So back to that also.
Want to replay FF13 with all the new modded textures.
FF10 on Series S I am in post game, break has ended up being over a year, it will be my first 100% of the game that has no cheating, legit did lightning dodges etc.
Fable 2 and 3 I have been wanting to play again for an eternity. One of the reason I purchased the Series S. Brought both games digitally two weeks ago since I wont be renewing game pass ultimate. Looks like the store doesnt recognise I already own all the DLC and this may well include all the time exclusive DLC for the games I acquired on the Xbox 360. I wonder with the removal of the 360 store of that stuff is now lost.
FF16 I briefly started but not a huge fan of it so will likely be on list for a while.
FF7 Rebirth I feel isnt as good as remake, so this might also be on the back burner,
FF7 Crisis Core remake, I dislike a lot of the changes, they were aimed at appeasing young players who want all action to be "fast", I much prefer the OG crisis core, so I am more likely to replay OG crisis core modded with new textures than play FF7 Crisis Core remake first.
Cyberpunk on my list, I got a new GPU after all, this game is the showcase for Nvidia features lol. Looks like an ok game though.
Tales of arise. Plus some other tales games not yet played also on my list.
A unch of other JRPGs I now cant be bothered to list and will end the post.

Had similar thoughts last night about downloading and forcing myself to play a neglected title already in my library. Hard truth is I bet many of us go on extended droughts. Know that I've felt the need to openly apologize for another Forza Horizon post in such a short timeframe. Not going to mention any names but... I bet any searches on Tomb Raider will bring up a certain member almost exclusively. :p

Tomb Raider: Underworld
Full admission: Never played anything in this franchise until SOTR. Not even on console.
My first thoughts the second Lara hit the water and started swimming - Speed and fluidity even at 60fps were shocking. Sound is also fantastic. Best $.98 game purchase in some time

Life is Strange: True Colors on PS4 next as that needs to be Platinum'd too  I'll just have few cups of coffee before I start that.

Finally managed to win the elusive and falsely $$$$$$$$$$$ valued Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor in FH4.
