1920x1080 for the 165 Hz TN monitor that I have for my daily driver.

I have a UHD-capable Samsung monitor, but only supports the old 60 Hz standard.

seeing as though games I play don't adapt well to display scaling, I'm sticking with 1080p though there is always a temptation for upgrading to 1440p+ for clearer fonts. I'm using a 1080p 55" OLED TV at the moment as a monitor. I know a lot of people couldn't stand this DPI but you get used to it.

This poll really should be multiple choice.

Not including my smartphone or tablet, I have two 1080p displays (one notebook PC, one old TV), one 1440p (2K) display, and two 2160p (4K) displays. A multiple choice poll would better represent overall display usage.

I use my 1440p display the least but I still shelled out cash for one and it sits in a room in my house; for about four months, it was my most used display. The 1080p notebook PC is never used at home but heavily used when I travel out of town.

The display that is powered on the most hours is an LG 55" OLED TV. However most of the time, it is displaying content at 1080p (OTA television broadcasts, Roku Streaming Stick, Kodi via a Raspberry Pi 4, Nintendo Switch); my gaming PC is plugged into it. Most of my mundane computing at home is done on a 27" LG 4K/60Hz LCD monitor.

Currently using 2560*1440, does anyone have any suggestions about if I should upgrade to a 3840*2160 or 3440*1440?

That's what I use as my third monitor - it's used for Discord only. The extra height is really handy.
Otherwise I have 2 1080p monitors, and a random 1440x900 VGA one on the side.

It really depends on your usage case (which you didn't bother to describe).

There's also the question of budget.

If you want to game at Ultra quality levels at 4K/120Hz, you'll need the appropriate GPU. In my case I use an RTX 3080 Ti to drive this display; most of my gaming today is done here. The build driving the 1440p monitor has an RTX 3060 Ti; this system goes largely unused these days as I've moved on from 1440p gaming.

But I don't spend all of my PC hours gaming so I end up mostly in front of a 4K/60Hz monitor that's geared to productivity, not gaming. Rather than use a powerful gaming PC, this monitor is driven by a system that has a smaller power footprint.

I generally loathe using notebook PCs as their ergonomics are atrocious.

I have several desktop systems here but my primary gaming rig uses 2560x1440, the rest are on 1080p.

Sorry, there is an option for changing your vote. I was thinking about multiple choice but decided one to be your main and most important. Just choose the one that you like the most and is most important to you.

1280x1024 is a CRT resolution? :( Or very very old TFT LCD monitor...

I have one of these:
1650899703635.png

Combined with a PowerDVI adapter that converts its single ADC port to a DVI port, power cable, and USB cable for the two USB ports on the back, it's a nice monitor. Cost me $60 in total - monitor was a lucky find at a flea market for $15, the adapter was around $45

1920x1080, 60 Hz. I love my 24" curved Samsung VA display.
4K is not only pointless, but also needs a graphics card that I don't wish to invest in. 1440p is still expensive if you're looking for a decent curved panel, so I say no thanks for now.

Clearly you are not using a Mac. 4K is quite useful on Macs since Apple deprecated sub-pixel anti-aliasing years ago. My Mac mini 2018 drives my LG 27" 4K monitor with the UI elements displaying at 1980x1080.

Hell, even the wimpy Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 550 2GB card (purchased below MSRP for $65 before the Great GPU Shortage) in my daily driver Windows desktop PC can drive 4K/60Hz for mundane desktop/productivity work.

This poll should have included an "Other" category along with multiple choice.

I wouldn't want to use a Mac even if I got paid for it. No offense.

With the graphics card, I meant gaming. I wasn't specific enough, sorry. :ohwell:

No offense taken. If you have no use for a Mac, that's fine. People have different usage cases. I own both Mac and Windows systems for different usages. Hell, there's even a Raspberry Pi 4 in my home although that's mostly consigned for Kodi (Linux as a desktop OS is an abject failure).

The point is that there are a wide variety of usage cases and sometimes different systems and displays are more optimal than others. That's why I find this poll defective, due to the lack of multiple choice responses. OP did not specify that this poll was intended for gaming.

One thing for sure, my Mac mini 2018 is far more energy efficient that any of the desktop Windows PCs I have ever used and I'm not even using the M1 model (whose performance-per-watt destroys the Core i7 in my unit).

I used to run a Raspberry Pi (I can't remember which iteration) as a homemade file server. It was slow as hell, but it didn't need much power. :D

True. It didn't even cross my mind that the living room TV is actually 4K, though I consider 1080p my main resolution, as my desktop PC is my main platform.

Normally, all display sizes must move to 4K-class. There are already 28-inch 4K for around 200 EUR (quite affordable if you ask me). That is pretty nice and a good option for the people tired of the old lower resolutions.

I have a 4k tv hooked up to my rig to play AAA games and the 1080p 280hz to play fast paced stuff where I want frames.
The best of both worlds.
