That F3 should have been water resistant really, lets it down. I had my phone (s22) on my quad mount while on a cycle ride, it started raining and all the others were like, "aren't you going to put it in your pocket" Why when it's water resistant, makes a lot of difference imo.

Y

Yesn't.

Samsung phones require USB-C to 3.5 adapters with inbuilt DAC.

Not at all. There are adapters with no DAC.

I didn't think C on a phone can output the pure analogue signal.

One of the best phones for audio was the iphone 5s, it has flawless audio out, i still have a 32gb iphone 4s i use as an audio player, it has very good audio output.

Pixel 6a. Just updated to Android 14.

I was using Motorola for a while (Droid Turbo, Moto Z Force Droid, E4, 2020 G Power, One 5G Ace), but the lack of updates outweighed the headphone jack. The Force Droid, G Power, and Ace also didn't quite stand up to the abuse I put them through.

Edit: Force Droid didn't have a jack either, but at least bundled an adapter, and ShatterShield lived up to it's name. Never cracked, just died.

Ended up getting Pixel 6a for around ~$275 earlier this year. Also spent ~$140 on Sennheiser TW3 earbuds.

They work well enough, and the 6a is much more ergonomic although I miss Moto gestures.

Poco's parent company are supposedly getting rid of MiUi in favour of a cleaner/more pure/more vanilla android experience.
They had Android One devices in the past, but even switching to AOSP won't fix the main issue - buggy proximity sensor. I think they either had an exclusive deal with Elliptic Labs(where they had to use it everywhere), or they are getting "the most" out of their license by saving few cents on hardware, but this thing has been plaguing Mi/Redmi/Poco for at least 5 years. I don't have issue with MiUI per-se(some things are actually wa-a-a-ay better in it comparing to other popular Android flavors).
Samsung phones require USB-C to 3.5 adapters with inbuilt DAC.
Pixels too. My friend found out the hard way, when he got a shiny new Pixel 6a some time ago and wanted to listen to some music via AUX cable in his car, but neither of our Type-C to 3.5mm dongles worked.
That's one of those things that should be added to the list of many "Glorious USB-C spec f#$%ups".

I didn't think C on a phone can output the pure analogue signal.
It's one of the possible alt modes for Type-C with a catchy name "Audio Adapter Accessory Mode".

S23+ since launch and its absolutely spectacular. For my use cases, its the first phone that survive 3-4 day uses between charges. And that with BT and GPS always on, full refresh rate speed and what not.
I knew it would be better than my previous phones, but couldn't imagine how magical it would be. I had flights where ive watched 3 hours of video content for 25% battery reduction

People hate on Samung, but they are pretty good with their phone tech.

This is pretty interesting anyway

A bonus, my Note 10 Pro does have a 3.5 mm jack.

I can use my go-to earphone, the Beyerdynamic Byron formerly (unavailable), now the DTX-102 same driver and housing, less a microphone.
Such a beautiful bang for the buck earphone with exceptional balance (According to my ears).

However... there may be others on the market that are as good or better now, no clue.

Oh right, what was I thinking? Maintaining a UI is WAY too much worth on a bazillion devices, so lets support a custom UI AND a custom OS on a bazillion devices! Geneus!

This will do absolutely nothing to fix their problem: they have way too many devices on the market.
The lack of updates is a major slap in the face for cheap motos. The G series is awesome, big batteries, long runtimes, decent price, but only 3 years of security updates is a huge problem. Mines at 4 and hasnt received an update for over a year, and now banking apps are starting to complain.

Let us know how you like it and how it suits your needs.

Pixel 8 Pro deployed to production. Coming from the Pixel 6 it isn't overly exciting, the 6 was already a good and up-to-date-ish phone.

The display is minimally bigger and has different colors. It picks up fingerprints at a much lesser rate. In the leather case that I use the volume buttons work better.

The only thing that is astonishing is the camera's combination of maximum zoom and image stabilization. Very good, I didn't expect it to be this usable. Will come in handy on concerts.

Worth the $1000? Not coming from a P6. Worth the $300 I'll pay when switching to Google Fi? Easily. Good phone, it's just the P6 is, too.

Took a plunge with a bigger phone, and traded my normal S22 for a S22 ultra, which has better cams and the pen which is really useful.

Pretty happy with it only thing I had to battle is how to enable wifi calling the option didn't exist in the settings where it should have been.
Called Redmi they had no clue told me to return the phone.
Found the fix on Redit for different Redmi phone where you type in a code in the dialer to disable some carrier check and it appeared in the settings.
No issues other than that.

My Pixel 7 completely soft bricked yesterday (random and looping crash/reboots) for no reason that I can figure out.
Updated to Android 14 almost 3x weeks ago, so you'd think that would have happened sooner if it were the issue.

Had to factory reset, working fine now thankfully.

Around 10 days ago, I came across a mint condition iPhone 6s Plus for a very, very nice price and I bought it. It's the highest end 128 GB version in rose gold. Now, I gotta share my experience... the A9 has definitely seen better days, I recall my old 1st gen SE performing better back in the day, but apps were also much simpler in nature.

Nowadays, it's definitely not the fastest phone in the world, and it's stuck on iOS 15, but it's baffling how much better behaved applications are on this phone compared to any modern Android device, at least the Galaxy Z Flip 3. (I ended up "flipping" it, pun intended) Things just work. I have no crashes or resets, touch ID is very responsive and generally, the experience is better than any low-end Galaxy, Moto or Redmi I have ever come across. I'm surprisingly satisfied with it, the only issue I currently have is that I cannot install Netflix on this phone. Not an issue to me since I don't really watch Netflix on a phone, but the notchless, 1080p IPS on the Plus is quite gorgeous. It's insane to think this phone released alongside the Galaxy S6 and it's not just completely usable - it's enjoyable today, and Apple is still maintaining iOS 15 for this device. 15.7.9 released recently for it. Speak of the devil, just as I type this I received the notification to install 15.8

Funny thing - after I flipped the Flip a couple of months ago, I had intended to buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but I actually decided against it and purchased the LG G3 OLED for my PC - luxurious stuff and figured, I didn't need a phone much anyway... some twist of fate that I met my first serious girlfriend and actually have someone to talk to basically in the same week I made that decision. Oh well, my gaming experience skyrocketed and movie nights are going to be a lot better  :)

I used a 6s plus for quite a while, still have a thing for them. It also has a 3.5mm jack and the sound output is really nice. If I found a good condition 128gb, which is pretty rare, as i have never seen one for sale where i live, i would keep it.

That entirely depends where you live - eu version of s22 with the exynos chip is trash.

Your opinion, still a good phone.

Objectively true. Much worse battery life and chip performance.

The difference between the us s22 and us s23 is quite small, due to them both being snapdragon... but because eu got snapdragon for the first time in ages with s23, the s23 is substantially better than the s22 in eu.

I get that SD is better than exynos, but for a long time, the EU for whatever reason has been stuck with exynos versions. I am glad the S23 has got SD in it, Samsung should dump the exynos phones in the eastern regions and give the west the SD ones

Eu has indeed historically always been shafted by samsung. Which is why i dont get why eu people didn't get the s23 knowing this.

S24 will be crappy exynos in eu again. So s23 is / was the chance for a snapdragon phone for eu users.

@Dragam1337 we get it that Exynos is worse than Snapdragon. Doesn't make the Exynos S22's bad phones, just worse than their SD counterparts.
