Never had issues with CPUs - new or used, in either laptop or PC.
The only thing to look out for is if the seller is trying to push a scam/sell damaged CPU, in which case it's good to have good refund options.

I've purchased several used CPUs in the past and never had an issue. The things tend to be hardy, and if you generally aren't buying unlocked processors you're all but guaranteed that they haven't been overclocked and overvolted.

$509 for that 7950X from Amazon? Just buy it. Return if it's a dud (quite unlikely) or damaged (this would be my only worry).

If a CPU does not fail in the first week it will last "forever" unless it is damaged by misuse. i have bought a fair few from CEX and never had a problem.

I bought an open box/returned x299 7740x from a local store and it was dead. Intel replaced it under warranty based on the serial number. I no longer needed a cpu at that moment so I sold it. Make sure AMD will warranty your used cpu based on serial number

Yeah, the most frequent failure for CPUs in bent pins*. AMD has just discovered LGA, too. So we're safe from now on.

*Beware when buying, some will just bend the pins back, hiding potential damage.

I got for fun 3900X for 200 EUR like last year. I actually asked dude "why so low", cuz local "dealers" always sold for 200 something like 3700 at max, and 300+ for 3900X. Dude asked he doesn't need it anymore, and all good. Later after "playtime" I sold it to another PC builder.

Price MUST be good otherwise you are always welcome to local shop and get a newer gen cpu. Same sh*t as Xeons from China - CPUs are damn cheap, but who in healthy brain will buy no-name mb for a price of a NORMAL new mb with actual warranty lmfao
