My cat of 14 years had to be put down last Tuesday he had cancerous tumor had to let him go unfortunately. Surgery may have allowed him a few more months, but just prolonged his suffering. It was at a point where there wasn't much you could do about it and you just had to pick the most humane thing for the cat. He was in good spirits, but he'd been fading quickly. That was a really tough decision to have to make, but it was what was best for the cat given his state. It was better that he didn't have to suffer any longer even though he was in happy demeanor he was struggling more and more by that point.
He was a great cat and had a full life though and got heaps of attention. It's been a rough week I was closer to that cat than most people. He had orange cat problems, but wasn't a problem that cat was exceptional by all accounts. Wish I could've selfishly kept him longer, but didn't want him to suffer further and had to do what was best for the cat itself given his circumstances. His temperament was good, but he was struggling too much by that point.
At least he lived a full life with heaps and loads of attention throughout the course of his life and was a happy cat right up til the end. He'll be missed couldn't have asked for a better cat.
