I just ordered one. Im afraid GPU prices will start climbing with bitcoin rising

Well so far ran Heaven for 20mins and temps was 59c not bad really.

It's always something special for me to unbox and plug in a brand new graphics card maybe because I don't do it a lot because I cannot afford it.

Not true. The difference is noticeable with any variance of blacks. Regarding burn-in, this is an exaggeration perpetuated by the first generation of OLED, so much so - it's borderline a myth at this point. Coincidently, I left my LGC3 on for the last 5 hours on this techpowerup forum to run errands and take care of my niece. No burn-in at all. These are not plasma's. Just about everyone's phone and tablet now is OLED of some sort and no one is complaining about burn-in.

LCD should die. The difference between LCD and OLED feels like HDD to SDD.

A friend of mine has an OLED phone and he's got the YouTube watermark burned into his display. I'd rather not risk something like that with my PC screen that I'm planning to keep as long as possible.

was it an original OLED from the manufacturer? I have used a samsung phone for 5 years and it doesnt have any burn in issues. if you check that wolf guy's switch oled testing, he had to realllly try hard to get burn in marks.

i have however seen shitty chinese fake oled's that get really easily burned in.

I've had two different models so far: one from Alixepress, which I got pretty limited functionality and the second one was this one: OBDLink SX 425801 . I don't know what you expect of that one, but my guess would be you will get the charging voltage on the battery, some basic info, not sure if it can clear any errors if that was the purpose.

yeah this is the super cheap version, got it for 5quid. but it works for what i need it to do: which is basically the engine temp since my car only has indicators for too hot or too cold.

i get these below, as well as accelerator position sensor, and some other stuff. Clearing codes isnt my intention, car is not even 2 years old (not even 12,000km covered since i commute by motorcycle)

I just wanted some engine temps and other things to monitor when i am doing some spirited driving in the mountains :D

Yes, it's a top-range Huawei phone straight from the manufacturer (I don't know which model), about 2 years old at most.

An OBD reader is a must. I think everyone should have one. :)

It's not top-range then, is it? I've been using Samsung S20 for 4 years, no issues, and the phone has AOD (always-on display) option, no burn-ins even then. I'll agree with @Sound_Card that it's just a myth these days.

i concur, my phone for over 4 years is a A51 with AOD on which i still use as my work phone. no burn in.

Huawei isnt really top range. They get away with cheap prices because parts that wont meet good manufacturing standards (say for samsung or apple) still get a pass for these brands. They rather deal with warranty when it comes up, than give overall better average quality of their products.

This is how redmi works as well. Redmi support is excellent and my parents use redmi phones.

Speaking of phones, after some long and painful years, I finally got one that I can use with one hand! :)

Can't think of the model, but wow... I miss compact size phones, but I don't miss low battery life.

It's a Blackview N6000.

It has a very efficient SoC, so its battery life is fairly decent. It can easily go 3-4 days with light usage. Not to mention, it's rated for drop resistance for up to 60 metres and water resistance for up to 15 metres.

It's got a few software oddities that as a long time Samsung owner, I don't really like (probably due to having the most basic of all the basic Android 13 adaptations in existence), but for 200 quid, I can't complain. :)

So my mini PC game in yesterday... I'll just say that I'm damn impressed with everything about it. The Radeon 680m is as fast as my old Crossfire HD 6950's which is the last time I actually bought graphics cards. That is insane for an IGP. The USB4 makes it future proof for external GPU's which is something I want to play around with. The little tiger makes no noise what so ever, runs very cool, has 8 cores, Windows 11 Pro but also strangely ... it outputs a 120hz 10bit 4k HDR signal via HDMI whereas my AMD advantage laptop with a 6800m can only do 8bit and no HDR. Not sure what is going on there.

The DAC (SMSL DO400) and the Headphones (Audio Technica R70x's) I got for myself for Christmas. This is my new rig. My sound card is bigger than my PC.

I got this for my second PC across the room:

It's kind of reassuring to know that I'm not the only one with overpowered secondary PCs (I have an i7-11700 in my living room HTPC). :D

Yep. OLED has certainly progressed in the last couple of years, but VA and IPS have, too. :)

I also have a TN that to my surprise, reminds me of earlier IPS monitors sort of. (the colors surprised me!) Note that it's a top-tier TN.

I also have a Samsung Odyssey G40B (IPS) that is very good, but according to my x-Rite i1 Display Studio, can't hold a candle to my ASRock PG27Q15R2A VA, when it comes to luminance and contrast at the same time. In fact, I would easily get at least around 450 cd/m2 on the VA.

was it an original OLED from the manufacturer? I have used a samsung phone for 5 years and it doesnt have any burn in issues. if you check that wolf guy's switch oled testing, he had to realllly try hard to get burn in marks.

i have however seen shitty chinese fake oled's that get really easily burned in.
In that same vein, my parents bought me a Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 for Christmas/birthday and I'm going through the process of registering my purchased license of SubaruEdit Personal so I can do some datalogging and road tuning on my Subi. In particular, I want to kill off the torque dip at 3,500-4,000 RPMs that Subaru's N/A F-series engines seem to have. I had to pull my "loud" muffler to pass inspection though, but still rocking the aftermarket midpipe/resonator. It's so quiet now.

I'm currently running everything in a VM, but VirtualBox might not be up to the task. After many years I might be forced to buy a Windows laptop again just for this.

My first roll PETG and PLA PRO. Brand is RAST3D. First time bying from them. Did a temp tower with the PETG and unlike PLA, looks pretty much the same to me :D. 245-255C definitely has a bit more stringing and layers are less transperant and squished. I think 230C is alright with this one.
