Schiit makes great stuff. I used to have their Dacs in both my setups, now I run full studio monitor kit. I still have the Dacs, with one at work in that setup and one in my listening room rack.

Can I ask what is so special about Schitt stuff? Why do people buy average audiophile tech, and overpriced. I don't mean to be rude, but I really am puzzled.

People like boutique high priced audio stuff. They might sound pretty good, but some are just not worth the overly high price.

I'm using an ancient pre-power setup, japan made and all discrete components. Imo it sounds as good as any of that boutique stuff does.

A 905p Optane 960GB disk to use as a boot drive. Got it at newegg for about $300 (yes still pricey but always wanted one lol, plus it'll be warantied), came in full retail packaging with a manufacturing date stamped on it of October 2023... guess they were going through the surplus "discontinued in 2021" chips for some time. Quite nice experience thus far.

PS: It supports encryption on the drive level, plus auth via pyrite. Might be able to use this for work...

PSS: Scared me for a moment. This isn't standard flash thats for sure! UEFI cant even see it, but its bootable/installable all the same. Oh, and trim is not needed according to intel. So weird.

Its mostly what fits your budget. I like Schiit because its American designed and manufactured. Their kit sounds great and is a really good value as well. Could one spend less, yes, or more, yes again. I listen to music pretty much all day long and like to have decent equipment to enjoy it with. I also edit audio and videos, so have good quality sound matters to me then as well.

Love me some Optane. All my rigs use it for either OS/Apps or Cache/Scratch. Good buy, you wont regret it.

i thought optane days are over because i thought due to poor sales intel stopped producing. BTW, i feel a bit cheated getting cx550 although it was reasonably priced a little under 4000 INR (47$) considering normal corsair prices. But the thing is i didn't research well enough after i ordered it something told me about Deepcool PL550D which has ATX 3.0 standard and 2 years more warranty.

The frame is still a cheap IKEA desk. The top is one of their own replacement beech 48x25x1.75" workbench tops - I got it because it was on clearance sale - had to lop off a bit of the desk frame to fit it since the original TROTTEN top is slightly bigger.

My normal desk just out of the picture is another Grizzly top (60x30x1.75" rubberwood butcher block) on an IKEA IDASEN.

Got the DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 3 m cables from Ugreen. They are thiiick (around 7 mm in diameter), opted not to go for the bundled cable management element in X1-3D and instead just used zip ties to secure them in the same slot that normally would hide the cable management bit. And yeah, 3 meters is way too long. I would be fine with 2 meters (as both HDMI 2.1 cable bundled with PS5 and DP cable bundled with LG monitor were 1.5 meter long) but at least I don't have to worry about them being too short when rotating the arm 90 degrees (now the LG power brick cable is the shortest one in the stack).
