Nice. Is it gonna be an El Cheapo gaming computer or is it gonna be some server?

A cheap and cheerful gaming machine for my youngest brother to experience PC gaming. I was going to use the spare LGA1155 system I have lying around, but the end goal was always to upgrade him to AM4 so we're on matching platforms. That has happened sooner rather than later. :')

He plays almost exclusively Minecraft and Fortnite (though he does enjoy Subnautica as well), and has gamed entirely on his tablet.

And we, me and you, are on matching GPUs with matching driver version. xD (but my 6700 XT is an XFX)

Cool upgrade, junior must be happy.

I do not buy a lot of PC parts as I do have responsibilities but I needed a work PC so got an I5 3rd gen with an RX470 for a steal on Facebook marketplace. She does the average job of web dev. I do play some games like last epoch and Path of exile. Both run 60fps in 1080p. Diablo 1 modded runs 300-400fps :p

I resolved my ongoing controller issues with the option most befitting a purchase in mid to late 2024. Hall effect joysticks, low latency, R4/L4 programmable triggers, and most relevantly an easily replaceable USB cord all the way to the upper limits on signal/length.

Offered with hopes member I'd have been most likely to engage with over this purchase blanked their pfp and left the site under tolerable conditions.

I managed to grab one brand new for just £279, so I jumped on it. It's a really good card for the money.

Junior is using my old card (RX 570) for now, but I want to grab an RX 5700 XT or something similar at some point. Definitely a good upgrade from a Galaxy Tab A (2019).

Nice! Web dev is my jam too. :)

I was thinking of using the 3570K system as a home server of some kind. Underclock it to 3570T levels and just have it accessible for all in the house.

ordered my first 3D printer.
Welcome to da club :D ohhh you are not getting away with just a printer and one spool :p Better not watch youtube videos titled "10 must have upgrades on your 3D printer" or you will end up with a PEI sheet, Creality dual Z-axis upgrade kit, a spool holder, a quick-change kit for bowden tube, new belts etc...before you can say "I've got red on my shirt" ;)

On a serious note, if are you immediately spending money here are my most useful upgades:

1.) Plastic inserts for the aluminum profile (save a lot of dust and debris): 10pcs/Lot Slot Cover Length 1000mm Panel Holder U Shape Channel Strip for 2020 series 6mm wide Slot Aluminum Profile Accessories - AliExpress 7

1724079200504.png

2.) PEI or G10/FR-4 printing surface. There are MANY other options, but these two are pretty good.

3.) Z-axis lead screw if it doesn't come for both axis.

4.) Aluminum corner brackets, most people just print the free one's, but I bought specific for router/3D printer and these are very solid. Reduce vibrations and make the printer a bit more stable.
1724079498156.png

5.) Printer spool holder. Stock one is no good. Depending on your enclosure you may or mau not need one, but my guess you will at least for a while.

That's what I did and it works really well together it beats out the 7800X3D+RX6800 pairing I had quite handily

I went to the next next level on my ARTIC III 420 and case ,

Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM, Heavy Duty Cooling Fan, 4-Pin, 3000 RPM (140mm, Black)

Also replace the short riser cable with a 300mm vs 165mm, and now I can use a straight HDMI connector vs the angle one , I love Amazon , one of the Noctua was bad , have a other one coming Monday .

8BitDo Ultimate 2C is tiny compared to outgoing XBOX360! Going to take some getting used to that and hopefully figuring out how you actually program the extra triggers.

Hall effect joysticks, low latency, R4/L4 programmable triggers, and most relevantly an easily replaceable USB cord all the way to the upper limits on signal/length.

By far the latency is biggest immediately noticeable change in modern games. Followed by how much more precise partial inputs on triggers are. Absolutely immediate where my other controllers I'd be jacking on a button 5 times out of frustration before it registered. Car changing screens in FH5 took almost 10 seconds compared to maybe 3 seconds now.

I've been on a spending spree in the UK because tech in Argentina is around 4 x more expensive, so I finally bought:
Asus TUF Gaming Advantage Edition gaming laptop - Ryzen 7/RX7700S, 16Gb ram and 1Tb NVMe and for my wife a Samsung Galaxy Book 4 FE, Core i3, 8GB ram and 256 SSD.
Then I needed a decent mouse, so I went for the Corsair Ironclaw RGB wireless mouse and of course a new backpack to keep my new toys safe: Wenger Carbon 17" backpack which is superb quality.
Real photos and opinion to follow...
My wife is delighted with her new laptop which frankly, she deserves because she works so hard and will have to while we're on holiday.
I expect to be acquiring some more toys before our visit is over...:peace:

Two of these $750 dollar each fan controllers for MacroAir Avd5 shop fans. One of the guys in the shop hosed them down with water. It is lucky only the controllers were fried. It's run via POE from the contoller to the fan. It's a pretty neat set-up. Since there was an ethernet cable involved, it was of course the IT guys issue to fix :kookoo:, but now i can say i've worked on a huge fan.

Give the boy a 5500X3D when it comes out in the UK. He will turn into the most MLG minecraft player.

1050€ for both the PSU and GPU. Both parts 2 months old and have used both for quite a while now with zero issues.

Far as I can tell, it means that it was posted in hope of discussion, but the person most likely to discuss has given up posting on TPU.

If my translator is working correctly, I think they mean: He would have liked to talk about this new controller with another member who also was a fan of that brand, but removed their profile photo and hasn't been seen since July 5th. RIP to the site's self-proclaimed Astronaut.

I understand this is a common issue those in IT and other technical fields encounter. :p

If I'm now in the position of requesting a dry literal statement in plain speech. Would you kindly confirm this in private if the more severe meaning is intended.

The hard to interpret phrasing I chose was in deference to this possibility. If that helps clear things up for anyone.

I understand PCs not people. :p

Is it correct that you mentioned this is smaller than the xbox controller? by how much? This controller looks nice but other than latency improvements, have you ran into any cons? I generally dont do 3rd party controllers because they are generally garbage, but I am curious.
