Still on a 1070 Ti... The plan was to skip one generation and upgrade in 2020, but then Covid and Crypto happened, so here we are.

Not that the market is great now, either. Here's hoping the 7800/7700 has 16GB of ram and a price that isn't insulting.

Still rocking my 1080 Ti from six years ago. I'm usually on a four year build cycle but the pandemic pushed it to six years and the state of the current hardware market is going to push it to seven (maybe longer). As a result, I've become more desirous of the components for my next build to be future-proof/resilient since it might have to last for another seven years. I notice myself caring more about things like VR performance, ray tracing, DP2.1, encode/decode, etc.

Just upgraded last year to a 6700 XT after the prices bottomed out. I will keep it for 2-3 years unless I need a 4090 for AI research.

You cannot future proof for RT. As more and more RT effects are added, the slower and slower GPUs will get as only a part of the GPU is allocated for RT. If and when we can really close to full path RT, GPUs will have to be very different than today’s tech.

I am still rocking 1st Gen Ryzen 1600 and an RX580 8GB.

Crazy to think that card I got for $200 in 2017 has as much vram as current model Nvidia cards worth over $600!

Btw. are there any differences in games between very high and ultra?,
id newer saw one reason for that only to make customers mad and they should buy a class higher.
