Which new console would you buy?

ergonomically driven choice ... Xbox ... because the DS4/5/whatever iteration are not what i call ergonomic or agreeable to handle for me .... (and also because i am not fond of Sony, it was not always like that ... PS2 was my last one, but i always had to buy a aftermarket gamepad ... if i wanted analog sticks )

logically driven choice ... none of them, PC with a Xbox one controller (for ergonomic reason for game that handle better with gamepad than KB/M ) ... i gave up after the Xbox 360, console have nothing more to offer nowadays (aside exclusives ... although the only one i was waiting on is coming to PC later ... )

I own a PC and a PS4 slim. If I had to chose between the XSX and PS5 I'd go for PS5. I can play anything released on Xbox on my PC, while there are still some exclusives that can be only played on a PlayStation.

That being said I don't think that it will be a Year 1 purchase for me, I'd rather invest in a new GPU now than buy a console.

If you already own a gaming PC, this is basically the most logical choice to make since whatever game comes to the Xbox it will also come to Microsoft Store (PC)

i cant believe in a PC forum we have more playstation fanboys than Microsoft. What a shame guys what a shame.

The only shame in this whole console thing is Microsoft. Period.

They have been putting PC gamers in second place, while making BS promises along the way*, ever since they first launched the original Xbox back in 2001. They got their a** handed to them so bad in this generation by Sony and Nintendo, that they don't even release official sale numbers on their console units anymore, and are now (after almost two decades) crawling back to PC gamers begging us to buy their games so they can at least boost their profit margins on the software side so they have a somewhat valid excuse to keep the whole Xbox Division afloat during those board of directors annual meetings. LOL

Xbox X is obviously faster hardware wise, but when it comes to games the PS5 has the advantage. We are talking Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted, The last of us, God of War, Spider man, Killzone, Yakuza, Gran Turismo vs Halo, Gears of War, Forza, Killer Instinct.

2. No useful information available to make a decision. As we've see in every one of these "no testing as yet available" threads, the promise of new technology far more often than not fails to deliver....

a) HBM2 was gonna change everything ... it didn't
b) Vulcan was gonna change everything ... it didn't
c) Simply adding more cores was gonna change everything ... it didn't; improved scientific apps, but core every day applications om 98% of computers remain unaffected, including photo and video editing.
d) Smaller die sizes, was gonna change everything ... it didn't
e) Every AMD GFX release since 2xx series ... it didn't

Forget the hype, make decisions when ya see results.

goes to show ignorance... you can ignore me if you want... all because you disagree with what I say lol. First I majored in the subjects mentioned... second wizard stated why he did what he did with the options allowed and stated he'd have another that addresses others. You didn't like it and now you're upset because things didn't go your way... entitled much. This is another reason why I stay off the forums. This place ain't what it used to be, toxicity is rampant now-a-days.

I'll consider the PS5, if only because that's the ecosystem I've already invested in the most. I had a ton of trouble with the original XboxOne--disc read errors, failed accessories. Maybe MS has fixed all that, but I've had a disproportionate number of problems with MS hardware that's not a keyboard or mouse. Surface, Band, Lumia, Xbox--all presented quality issues that the competition simple doesn't struggle with. I may just retire from console gaming entirely. I just don't play as much as I used to to justify the expense when my PC can scratch that occasional itch.

I am curious what power consumption will be like on both.

I'm grabbing the PS5 likely at launch but I wish it had the Specs of the series X....

IF Halo infinite wasn't also coming to pc along with every other Microsoft exclusive I would likely have Grabbed both..... Other than back in the 80s when I was in elementary school I've always owned at least 2 consoles thankfully Microsoft starting porting its games to pc meaning I only need 1..... Not a huge fan of what nintendo has been doing since the Wii even though some of its games are amazing as well.

if you love games it doesn't really matter what hardware its on imo.

None, i would get PC parts over a console anyday, still have a PS3 Slim which has been used for about 70 hours if that just sitting in it's box. Was the biggest waste of money.

I prefer saving for the PRO on TSMC shrink to 5/3nm in 3 years only if 4608 core 384bit 18Gbps 24GB $499.

If I did probably a PS5 but my PS4 is just a BD player/Media Server now so as long as it keeps doing that I don’t really need a newer console outside of possibly a 4K BD drive but then I’d have to start my BD collection over again.

there is nothing to it, one pcb in MCM format with NVME on the back, one external power supply, why make is so much more complicated than it has to be.
