Who here likes big monitors? 42inch and bigger gang?

I have a 48in LG C2 that I sit 47inches from. It is so juicy, I love it. I can't go smaller. I run 200% scaling on my win11. Fonts are nice and sharp.

Once you got the big swag going with the big size gaming rig, you can't go smaller! Anyone else here in the 42in and bigger display gang? What do you like/not like about it?

I am using a 50" LG 50UP7100 that I got on sale at Walmart the year before last. To me its awesome. I know it could be better on another screen.. but for now I am content. I am using a JBL soundbar and sub, but I think I am gonna hook my stereo back up tomorrow NAD AVR, Mirage towers, MISSION center and surrounds, and a Monitor Audio sub. The soundbar is ok for movies and games, but for music it is terrible.

I have SteelSeries Arena 7 2.1 speakers. They do not hook up via 3.5mm jacks. They are directly connected to the usb port of my pc bypassing all the noise.

They sound great with sonar from SteelSeries. Thankfully I sit far enough back that I notice no issues or need to tilt my head.

I got a 43" QN90B couple months ago. But it's only my secondary (tertiary?) monitor on the side on its own desk, for sims and movies. The panel is great except for the horrendous VA viewing angles that prevent me from making it my main monitor. Might be partially OCD but it is impossible to use anything except light theme on the filter-less VA panels (43" and 50").

If I had acted earlier I could have gotten a 42" C2, in which case I think it would have become my main screen. Even openbox vs. openbox, it would have been a lot more expensive though ($899 vs $1199). I used the QN90B alone for a few days and there were no ergonomic issues.

My main monitor is a 43" Acer CG437KP. VA, 3840x2160 120Hz, 50cm from my face. No scaling, just maximum information density my eyes are able to absorb.
Is is wonderful, but problematic in practice. Finding a monitor arm which can handle a 20kg screen was not trivial.
It's my favorite computer part I own.

I use some thing like this, it allows all kinds of fittings as a lot of them are limited.

It wouldn't work for me since my desk is almost in the middle of the room, with the wall behind me - in fact, I have a second desk/workbench behind me. I found a Colebrook Wishbone Plus - supports screens up to 24kg but someone from the company said that the real limit is the furniture you attach it to. So I did the right thing and drilled through my desk (40mm solid wood) because I don't trust clamps.
I'm the "leave a 500% margin, just in case" type.

Benchmark Scores (My Windows daily driver is a Beelink Mini S12 Pro. I'm not interested in benchmarking.)
I use an LG C2 55" OLED as my primary gaming monitor. I do not use it for ordinary office productivity tasks nor regular desktop activities.

I use an LG 27" LCD monitor as my primary monitor for regular computing tasks. This a good size where you don't have to swivel your head to see things on the sides, in the corners, etc. It's at arm's length which is important to me since both a Mac and a Windows mini PC are plugged into it and I need to be able switch between the two easily.

There's no risk of burn-in and it uses less power than my large screen OLED TV. The LG C2 has burn-in mitigation processes like pixel shifting and pixel cleaning cycles which the desktop LCD monitor does not.

Once you turn 40 you'll understand better. But try to not wreck your neck before then.

Also it's easier to read text on a desktop computer monitor over the long run (if you're parked in front of it for hours). Their display engines are optimized for still images and text legibility. Television screens have display engines that are optimized for smoother motion not static text. Again the television display is harder on your eyes over the long haul. And yes, this is another thing you'll notice when you're over 40.

Someday this may change but not in 2024 and not with today's products.

This is a strong reminder that good ergonomics doesn't stop at the mouse and keyboard.

Best of luck.

50in UHD tv, but since its hdmi 2.1, it has VRR/game mode, so i wont even need 120hz for gaming/reduced input lag
(very noticeable, even on normal win use).

if it wasnt for funds, i probably would have gotten the 65 sony oled, when they still had the top model offering the ability
to add an active sub, and use the screen (surface audio) as mid/high range output.
anything decent on FALD is usually larger than 65 to not notice zones, and anything coming with mini/micro "zones"
is similar cost to oled.

but yeah, larger screens preferred, as i get more immersed on a "big screen", vs anything curved, as my pc isnt limited to games/movies.

I used a 48 inch C1 for over a year and have used up to a 65 inch G2 briefly and never had any issues with size. I'm now using a Samsung G8 Oled and while I have no intentions of going back I wouldn't have any issues using pretty much any size screen.

I always have a secondary 1440p high refresh monitor as well though for browsing and desktop work.

I'm still leaning towards the LG C4 120hz 42" this Black Friday if it hits a good sale. (900 is max I am willing to pay for it though)

cause I have some 4k Blu rays I want to watch, so its not just for gaming for me, as much as I want ultrawide OLED, I probably should just get the 42", cause I have a lazy boy as my gaming chair. so I can kick my feet up, lean back etc.

so its my movie machine as well as my gaming...

BUT everything is currently on hold as I was just hired by a new job, so doing a good job is my only focus right now, and if it becomes long term stable, then I will get the 42" C4. I want to make sure the new job is long term stable first though... (if that even exists anymore?) lol
