The Nintendo Wii was launched in Japan on 2nd December, (now two days ago by Japanese time) and the consoles have all sold out. According to Nintendo there were 400,000 consoles available at launch, meaning there are now four times as many Wii owners as PS3 owners in Japan.

After nearly two weeks after the North American launch, the Nintendo Wii is finally available in its home country of Japan. Of course, we use the term "available" rather loosely, as trying to find a Wii for sale in the Land of the Rising Sun borders on the side of impossible. What happened a couple weeks ago here is happening over there.

This isn't really a huge surprise when you consider that Nintendo is a Japanese based company and in recent years they have been more successful there.

W1zz just let me become one, I've noticed there isn't much new news but I saw this on DailyTech so thought it would do for a first news post! Don't worry, I'm not intending to ruin TPU by posting loads of pointless stories, that's one of the main things I admire about this site: only relevant/ interesting news is posted (well most of the time).

*salutes nintendo* well done, they're doing a heell of a lot better job then sony is, at leat for now.

I find it odd that the Wiimotes still have English text on it instead of Japanese.

Go Nintendo! I'm gonna pick one of these up probably over the summer.:rockout:
