How is the xt better than the 4070ti?

Amd cards are currently in prealpha and sold as a finished product. Furthermore rt performance is a joke, while fsr is also inferior to dlss. And dont even get me started about the power draw.

Amds cards are just inferior in every possible metric this time around, which would be fine if they were priced accordingly

Better raster in most stuff
According to TPU, the 7900xt is 10% faster in raster at 4k, but the 4070ti in RT is 13% faster. But the 4070ti is cheaper, aa lot more efficient, doesnt have a myriad issues with multimonitors, video playback consumption and the likes.

You have to be crazy to buy the xt over the 4070ti. Both are overpriced of course, but if you have to buy one of them, clearly the 4070ti is the better option

The average is meaningless. There are games with barely any trace of RT that are included in the average. In heavy RT games the XT (and the xtx) plummet. They drop like a rock. In fact the 4070ti is faster than the XTX in heavy RT games. That's just insane.

Depends what you intend to use it for. Given the choice I'd spend the extra hundred for the XTX as it's got a fair bit more power than the XT, still cheaper than the 4080, and way more VRAM. I'm sure over time driver updates will fix many issues. I wouldn't get the reference card though given the issues. Probably a Sapphire card, had multiple of them in the past. Though really with the pricing I wouldn't go for anything right now. My 3080 will serve me well enough for the next few years. I'm skipping next gen too probably. Lets see what the RX 9800 XT and RTX 6080 can do. I'm sure they'll only be £1700 each too, which is totally worth it next to the £660 I paid for my 3080 nearly 2 years ago. Ufff.

Yes but between the two, we are in agreement that the 70ti is the better option, right?

It's mythical MSRP makes that question a no.

Several thousand raster based games verses a few RT makes that a no.

The fact is this thread, that cards irrelevant, always was though 192bit buss wtaf.

I'm buying OP but you're going to have to wait for the answer to which like it matters to you or I care what you think.

And again I wonder wtaf the point of this thread is, it needs ending.

What mythical MSRP, cheaper 4070ti I can find is around 100€ cheaper than the cheapest XT,and that's a reference model, non reference are 200-300€ expensive. So not only is the 4070ti much better in RT, it's actually better in raster in terms of value for money.

So what several thousand games are you talking about? The xt offers worse / similar performance per dollar in those as well. It is an inferior product by any metrics you can use, including price and power consumption.

Yes, of course amd fans will buy it, but that's about it, no sane person will prefer it over the 70ti.

So, basically the same reason no is buying an Intel Arc card A750 & A770, they don't work on The older DX9 A.P.I's. Not to well great support on DX11 either. Thouands of Dx9 & Dx11 games. Not too much DX12 & Vulkan Games. All the A.P.I that Arc excells at. which would be future A.P.I

I find this halarious, becasue everyone talks about "future proofing". When in reality they want backwards compataibly & upgradeablity with no hassle.

What I find hilarious is people's ability to read topic headlines.
Then this.

And now I'm not sane, well keep it up, and I'll be pm ING you what I think of you.

I'm keeping an eye on the 7900XT. If I need to get a new card (new game needs more power than my 2080ti can handle at 1440p), then this will be the next choice. I had initially voted 'No' but seeing the performance and price of the 4070ti, I'd rather have the 10% higher raster power of the 7900XT. But then, only if the price drops.

Wouldn't hurt to wait, and not only for a price drop. Right now AMD staff is probably just coming back from vacation only to be caught flatfooted with the vapor chamber debacle (which STILL appears to be unresolved as they don't have enough units allocated for RMA). I think the release of the next Adrenalin driver will give a good glimpse into exactly how committed AMD is to bugfixing and optimizing the XT and XTX - at the very least they have promised idle power improvements, which have yet to materialize.

I've had the 7900XT in for a few days, but I could only start testing today. Half-excited, half-dreading what I'm going to find. After Nvidia shattered their reputation for "stable" drivers over MW2, I think my standards have lowered to a point where not even Radeon can impress me

I thought that the price I got last week was a sign of things to come at least up here, but apparently not. All 7900XTs are back to XTX MSRP. Thus the wait continues for everyone else.

Canada Computers has one model available for 1249. The cheapest 4070 Ti that I can find is 1187 at PC-Canada. The situation in the US is much better: the same 4070 Ti is being sold at 800, and there are multiple 7900 XT variants to be had for 900.

I agree, a mod needs to come and lock it. nVidia fanboys just refused to acknowledge that the MSRP of 799USD is a smokescreen. Yes, there'll be a few at that price, as I'd said before, nVidia prolly got a board partner or two (looks like ZOTAC) to sell a few cards at 799USD, it's done just so nVidia can proclaim that it did have a MSRP of 799USD and was sold at that.

Most price at >900USD range with one perhaps at about 860USD, and another at 1.2k USD. Now, you can get a MERC 310 RX 7900 XT for 900USD, or a Red Devil RX 7900 XT for 950USD. How do they compare to the RTX 4070 Ti then? Ofc, nV fanboys will fall back on, "But the MSRP...", but that's an almost mythical price as just about all RTX 4070 Ti are above that....

Okay, except for that one, the others are all around the $1300+ mark. The Sapphire $1249 MBA has been sitting there for ages. It's not a deal at all, amd.com literally sells the 7900XT (always in stock) at $1228.

I got my Powercolor MBA at $1150, roughly $850usd. Same day the XFX MERC310 came down to $1150, so there was a choice of compact MBA card or much larger OC AIB card for the same $. No choice for me, 347mm too big.

At $1250 I wouldn't even give it the time of day.

That's a nice discount. Where did you get it for 1150? I agree; 1250 is too close to the MSRP for the 7900XTX.

Amazon, both XFX and Powercolor are first party sold by Amazon.ca. Amazon prices can be very wacky (algorithmically managed??), dunno if prices change in eastern Canada.

As of today both cards are back to $1350. Maybe the 4070 Ti and its pricing just aren't applying enough pressure, or maybe AMD doesn't have the time to think about anything that isn't XTX MBA coolers right now

No, but only because my 3090ti does everything I could possibly need for right now. If I hadn't broke down and bought that I like AMD more than the Ada lineup right now.
