Here are some of the first renders of what the retail channel packages of Windows 10 could look like. Microsoft plans to sell packages with physical DVDs in markets with slow Internet connections (the first two renders), in others, the company will sell slimmer envelope-type package (the last two renders) that lacks physical media, and include only a plastic card with a key printed on it. You can download the install image for your edition, and create a bootable USB flash drive that can be used as an installation media.

Given that over 300 million current users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are expected to avail the free upgrade to Windows 10, which entails a web-based update; and given the amount of people buying licenses on the web, Windows 10 could very well be the last version of Windows that's sold in physical packages, at ground stores. Speculation is also rife that Microsoft could fundamentally change its version numbering scheme and upgrade model, which could mean no more future major versions, and possible subscription models to get software updates. Windows 10 will release on July 29, 2015.

Microsoft is pulling an Apple. Windows 10 will be around a long time like Mac OS X. Microsoft would quickly change their tune of Windows 10 flopped like Windows 8.

If I buy a Japanese retail box of Win10, can I switch the windows in full English later?

You can add the English language pack later and then switch.

My version of win7 is OEM so it only has Portuguese language. To put English language, that's what i had to do. In retail versions, i think it comes with other languages so you should be able to install in the language of your choice, but i'm not 100% sure on this.

I'm assuming it works the same for win 10, ofc.

Wasn't this just for Ultimate, or did it work for all versions?

The language packs costs money btw.

My version is ultimate OEM: dunno if for other versions works differently.

I just went to windows update and, in the optional updates, chose English pack (it has 34 different language packs). Didn't pay anything for the language pack. Then, after the 1st start, i choose English language as main, delete the Portuguese and restart.

From what i was told, i can't install an English version and stick my serial in it, because my version is OEM. Didn't even try to avoid potential problems.

I actually like the box art,......

Slow news day?

Only Microsoft would go to the trouble of having a different cover art for the digital version versus the physical version yet still doesn't show an image of a disc.

I read an article the other day that they might ship on flash drives. Would be nice to see.

I remember when I was younger and I cared about OS releases just for games. Man those were the days.

Windows 95 was the most epic gaming operating system ever because it was 32-bit!

Nice Box art. :)

A nice box always impresses me :pimp:

Windows 8.1 pro will download whatever language pack you select & will install it after it is marked active so I am sure windows 10 will let you do the same.
