Funny you (roundabout) bring up the Insider program, because look what's getting more AI stuff (much to the dislike of some)? Notepad and Paint:

Good grief! We really don't need this crap..

I hope it has at least a toggle somewhere to disable the AI stuff.
Ideally, it would be something that could be removed in the 'windows features' options. Though, being MS, it'll probably take a third party tool. Hopefully, that won't break some Win11 functionality like removing Edge does.

I understand the hypothetical appeal of these "AI" features to the stupid people who want to be trendy and open midgetamputeeporn.com via voice commands instead of clicking on browser bookmarks, but what the flying fuck is the point of AI in terminal? Like, what is that supposed to bring to the table?

Okay, never mind. Got it taken care of and it's activated now.

Tried my one extra key twice and the second time it activated.

Well, I'm dual booting my current system with windows 10 and 11.

I had to reinstall the windows 11 and now I can't seem to get it to activate?

It was the first time I had it installed dual booting.

It's the 11 pro and I've tried 3 different windows 10 pro keys and none of them will allow 11 to activate.

Any suggestions?

There is the calling in option, which "should" work. There's also the option of a new key from a key seller.

Porn directly in the terminal? Well, you'd have to read it (or look at some rough ASCII action), but...yeah /facepalm

That reminds me, back in the day you could watch the first Star Wars movie over telnet (ASCII-style). I wonder if the server for that is still up

well it's just same thing as google has started back days it's "account" stuff, now we have "account for browser" BS. MS just "stays up-to-date" with stupid modern "trends" lol:D
But I agree, even I would't use any "modern" app for serious, the account BS is nonsense.

"plain" 24H2 could have "updated ISO", but I DOUBT this will be true for LTSC. So, it's up to you, sirs/madams, what to use, but I prefer LTSC (IDC about "iot" hype, I'm OK with just LTSC tho.)
IoT 'hype' is about performance and debloat, but mostly about support period. TEN years of not having to worry about whatever MS wants to shove down your throat the next yearly release. This is by far the cleanest Windows you can get.

" And then finally there is Windows 11 IOT Enterprise LTSC. The LTSC stands for Long Term Support Channel. It is a version of Windows 11 that is made for dedicated embedded systems, not for general use. It allows the user to customize their version of Windows, with the ability to remove up to 36 software packages, and locks the device into that specific version of the OS. Each of version of Windows 11 IOT LTSC will receive 10 years of support. "

I'm a fan. The only drawback is a pop up for the game bar sometimes that cannot be opened. A reminder that you can't access Store related services. A blessing and a curse, but in my world, entirely a blessing.

I assume I will need to buy another license for LTSC Enterprise WIndows 11? I won't be able to just install it with the key I use now?

I installed W11 for the first time recently on a laptop using IoT Enterprise LTSC.

(The laptop came with regular W11. I tried it first but didn't feel like working with it, not enough control. bypassnro did work so I was able to use a local account, despite all the conflicting info I've seen, but the amount of pending app installs in Start was a complete turnoff. Deleting them before connecting to the net did at least stop them from getting installed in the first place I guess, but there are a lot of things that would bother me in the long run.)

IoT Enterprise LTSC on the other hand, wow! TWO programs in Start, Explorer and settings IIRC. The ability to to turn off updates permanently is great for me, as I never got used to the W10 fad of it doing what's best for me (no don't lecture me ffs lol). I prefer doing it manually. I don't have much else to say, because there's nothing that bothers me so far, just like an OS should be.

I bet almost no one in this thread have paid for it.
I don't think buying one of those keys being sold out there complies with MS own terms anyway, this version is for volume licensing only. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You can't use that key.

At this point most people here would probably assume you know what you're doing :D

I bet almost no one in this thread have paid for it.

Paid the person selling the key? Sure. Paid Microsoft? Unlikely. I'd definitely like to know what kind of price ranges Microsoft has for Volume licensing. I mean, after paying the full fat price of Windows 11 Pro license, I feel like I can't get hurt more, but more than likely I'd feel my wallet die and combust in flames :D

Also, Microsoft's terms are such that you're not allowed to transfer those licenses (doesn't stop anyone from doing so, but that's what the EULA says):
Spoiler because didn't want to clog up the thread with contract stuff

2. Installation and Use Rights.
a. License. The software is licensed, not sold. The software license is permanently assigned to the device with which you acquired the software. Under this agreement, we grant you the right to install and run one instance of the software on your device (the licensed device), so long as you comply with the terms and restrictions contained in this agreement.
[...]
c. Restrictions. The device manufacturer or installer and Microsoft reserve all rights (such as rights under intellectual property laws) not expressly granted in this agreement, and no other rights are licensed to you. For the avoidance of doubt, this license does not give you any right to, and you may not (and you may not permit any other person or entity to):
[...]
(iii) transfer the software (except as permitted by this agreement);
[...]
e. Specific Use. The manufacturer designed the licensed device for a specific use. You may only use the software for that use.

Nowhere in the EULA says you can transfer the software and on top of that they tell you you can only use it on a licensed device for its specific use.

The Windows 10 EULA for retail copies of that OS has this little change in point e of Installation and Use Rights:

e. Backup copy. You may make a single copy of the software for backup purposes, and may also use that backup copy to transfer the software if it was acquired as stand-alone software, as described in Section 4 below
And then it has Section 4 detailing how transfers should work
4. Transfer. The provisions of this section do not apply if you acquired the software in Germany or in any of the countries listed on this site (aka.ms/transfer), in which case any transfer of the software to a third party, and the right to use it, must comply with applicable law.
a. Software preinstalled on device. If you acquired the software preinstalled on a device (and also if you upgraded from software preinstalled on a device), you may transfer the license to use the software directly to another user, only with the licensed device. The transfer must include the software and, if provided with the device, an authentic Windows label including the product key. Before any permitted transfer, the other party must agree that this agreement applies to the transfer and use of the software.
b. Stand-alone software. If you acquired the software as stand-alone software (and also if you upgraded from software you acquired as stand-alone software), you may transfer the software to another device that belongs to you. You may also transfer the software to a device owned by someone else if (i) you are the first licensed user of the software and (ii) the new user agrees to the terms of this agreement. You may use the backup copy we allow you to make or the media that the software came on to transfer the software. Every time you transfer the software to a new device, you must remove the software from the prior device. You may not transfer the software to share licenses between devices.

Someone paid microsoft to get the key, then it's being resold to the end user. This is no different than a retail store selling a physical copy. Just minus the physical store and physical copy. That is why they're called "Key Resellers".
Also, Microsoft's terms are such that you're not allowed to transfer those licenses
What microsoft claims and what is lawful aren't always the same thing...
(doesn't stop anyone from doing so, but that's what the EULA says)
Just because it's in the EULA does not mean it's enforceable. For example, the terms you mentioned are completely invalid in the EU, UK and US due to conflict with legal statutes in each. Again, they can SAY whatever they want in an EULA. What they can enforce is something very different.

The Security Threats that Dave Plummer Covered, 1st being ipv6 and then another 2. One 'cumulative update' from ms catalog, installed co-pilot, now I need to go through and find which kb/cve number it pertains to and eliminate it.

Maybe I need to run Chris Titus techs tool to nuke windows update and use powershell to install needed updates...
