Last month i got a PC on eBay with 5 2600x and looked on the supported list for Windows 11 and it does. But looking at the update today it says it is not :( I downloaded the PC health check. It says Secure Boot is not enabled and that TPM 2.0 not detected. Is there anyway to make enable Secure Boot? And get TPM detected and enabled?,It seems weird to me that the Cpu is ready for Windows 11and yet not for my PC?o_O

Use the latest version of Rufus to make the Win 11 installer USB flash drive. It has options to bypass those restrictions.

I know how to do it that way, but i don,t see why it should not be able to run the normal way bearing in mind the CPU is supported. o_O

The settings must be enabled in BIOS. Just because that CPU is supported doesn't mean the BIOS doesn't have to be configured correctly. Bill Gates has absolutely NOTHING to do with it.

Go into the BIOS and check that CSM/Legacy mode is disabled, enable UEFI boot mode, enable Secure Boot, enable TPM/PTT, be sure to use GPT partition system.

Just because the CPU, the primary factor, may be ready, that does not mean the rest of the system is. Having said that, many have been successful installing W11 on so-called unsupported systems so that does put into question the accuracy of that list. :(

I thought he was the owner of Windows.
Wow. You might want to consider using Google before posting - especially clearly biased viewpoints - if you are that far behind the times. Not a criticism or meant in any disrespect - just an observation and solid advice.

A quick Google search shows he stepped down as CEO in 2000, over 2 decades ago, and left all his "full time" roles in 2008! And in 2020, he stepped down from his remaining board position at Microsoft.

Sure he still owns a big chunk of shares, a few more than my 10 shares ;). But actually he only owns less than 1.5% of all shares - which still makes him one of the top shareholders. But he has no authoritative say or responsibilities in the day to day operations and instead is concentrating on his philanthropic activities. I am sure, however, if he wants the ear of Satya Nadella (the current CEO) he has it any time.

That said, as a philanthropist he has become one of, if not the most generous people ever! So maybe it is time to cut the guy some slack.

I have seen people selling older versions like yours on eBay with 11 on them. I will see if I can update the TPM, the secure boot can be done off-course. :)

It is telling you that it could not find the TPM since it more than likely its set to off in your systems BIOS. You should first check to see if there is an updated BIOS for your systems motherboard and install it. Then go into your motherboards BIOS (Hit the Delete key on startup) and go to the advanced settings and enable UEFI boot and then the TPM platform.

Oh, and clean the food stains off of your monitor please!

Hi,
You can't change or switch off legacy to uefi only boot from within windows
Without knowing which mother board you're using we can't say how exactly how to switch boot to uefi and enable tpm or secure boot

Just search youtube on how to enable these two items in your mother board bios settings.

OK guys here's my thoughts - M$ most likely doesn't care too much about all this "Not compatible"
Nah! It is true that Microsoft doesn't care much about legacy support, but not because of any lawsuit. It is because NO software development company has any requirement, responsibility, obligation, or duty to maintain support for legacy hardware products. The reverse is true too. Hardware makers are not required or duty bound to provide support for legacy operating systems.

Contrary to what some folks seem to think, the hardware industry marches to a different drummer than Microsoft. And that's a good thing. Do we really want Microsoft telling Intel and AMD how to make their processors, or HP and Brother how to make their printers? I don't.

Where would Linux be if Microsoft controlled everything? And yet, Windows supports Linux! :)

So Microsoft publishes their specs and protocols, the hardware makers are responsible to develop drivers and interfaces to insure compatibility.

If HP or Epson refuse to invest resources (with $0.00 return on those investments) in W11 drivers for their obsolete, out-of-production printers, and instead, want consumers to buy their new printers (where there are profits), that's not on Microsoft!

Same with motherboard makers, RAM makers, younameit makers.

I never looked him up it was just what i heard people say about him.
That was evident. But do you always simply repeat what others say? I suspect, or at least hope, you don't - ESPECIALLY if what you heard was from some anonymous username behind a funny face/avatar on the Internet. ;)

In your defense, corporate greed is real and years ago, Microsoft clearly wanted to and tried to rule the world :(. But that has changed thanks to the EU and Congress threatening to break MS up Ma Bell style, and due to consumer backlash too. MS has finally seen the light. Admittedly, W8 helped too. :)

I mean come on! They gave W10 away and most W10 users can upgrade to W11 for free! Even if you need to buy a new license for a new computer, you can get a legitimate W10 or W11 license for less than what we had to pay for an XP license when it came out!!! In what industry does that happen? This is why the M$ moniker no longer makes sense - except to MS bashers and the misinformed.

Still, Microsoft is a company with shareholders. It has to make money to survive and attract investors. That is not an unreasonable expectation.

I hope you can see this okay.

20230410_092218.jpg

Speaking of corporate greed, that is a brand new, never-opened bottle of Head & Shoulders shampoo. It never leaked - it came 3/4 full. :( Only with that flashlight can you see inside the bottle. Yes, I am sending that picture to Procter and Gamble too.

Just pretend you are from Missouri - the "Show me" state. I'm not from there, but Missouri borders my state - plus I tend to be a skeptic anyway, until I see for myself that something is, or isn't - within reason (I invest in tin, I don't wear tinfoil hats! ;) - I believe in intelligent alien life, I don't believe in unicorns. I have seen neither).
