Microsoft has now made the second release candidate of Windows XP's third service pack available to the public, which can be obtained via Windows update after downloading a registry patch from Microsoft. You can download the registry patch here [38KB], but before you do so it is recommended that you remove any previous beta or release candidate version of SP3 from your system. The RTM version of the service pack should become available during the first half of 2008.

w0ot time to try this one hmm didnt seem to work maybe u need to reboot.

does it include DX10???

:wtf:

not that i know of

bastards!

how long will it be before micro$haft include into Xp?

I doubt they would as theyd want at leat one vista exclusive.

I doubt they would as theyd want at leat one vista exclusive.

let me re-phrase then: how many copies of vista must sell before they include DX10 into Xp?

they won't, from what i hear, direct x 10 isnt compatable with the kernel in xp. there are some projects online that will allow you to play dx10 games in xp but will not take advantage of it. another alternative is to buy lots of ram, get a copy of vista, and hack the shit out of it.

none.....its built totally diff....it wont integrate...the way dx10 was designed the code simpy doesnt match up and even if they did come up with a type of port is would probably be emultaed...imagine 3 way sli 9800GX2's a sweet quad oc'd to like 4.2ghz...and crysis will still run at like 10fps....because it would probably be extremely slow in buggy..IF it worked.

It wont happen cus they wont want the one big reason to go to Vista to go.

realized why it wont work for me...non 64bit :( now im sad :( i want the 64bit one.....

anybody have any thoughts on how it's performning, i've been using sp3 build 3300 for about 2 weeks, and i must say i'm very happy with it, not much of a difference, but it's no performance hit

It doesn't work for winxp either. All it does id flash some sort of up pop and disappears. Nothing happens (using SP2).

You might need .NET framework 2.0 or w/e

XP SP2: 11,998
XP SP3 RC2: 11,970

After you average about 10 runs each together, I'm sure they are about the same.
Everything with the update went smoothly.;)

i want the x64 version sooo bad.

downloading the standalone now

Thanks a bunch. However, that's v3264, not v3300 or v3311. Is v3300 or v3311 an update to v3264?
Good question, I don't have the answer. There was no newer version of the standalone so I can only hope its different numbering for the standalone version.

I will have to check tomorrow. I did the install on my laptop that I use at work so I can't check the windows version right now.

That's is a little bit odd... The result should be better no? I think i read an article some time ago that said the perfomance increase could be up to 30%... Not sure if they are talking about gpu or cpu perfomance....

I hope SP3 is worth the wait.

Yeah, anyone else got some numbers they care t'share?

;)
