If you have the space for it. I dont see why not. I used a PCI-E NvMe expansion card for a while with my Z-370 build. You'll still be limited by Gen 3 PCI-E speeds with X79 though but still an upgrade over Sata III

If you are thinking about using it as a boot drive though. I recall some X79 systems not actually liking it and you'll need to jump through some hoops to maybe get the system to boot off it.
