X800GTO2 OC Question

My SAPPHIREX800GTO2 DUAL DVI CAME WITH THE BIOS SAYING IT WAS R430 12 PIPES, BUT I TOOK IT APART CLEANED IT AND IT WAS R480,THIS WAS WHILE I HAD IT APART TO PUT ATI 5 SILENCER ON IT. ANYWAY,540 ON MY GPU IS A BIT UNSTABLE.530 IS OK,610 IS MAX STABLE ON MY MEM.I FLASHED IT TO XTPE AND USED RABBITT TO LOWER THE GPU CLOCK A LITTLE. I RECOMEND ZALMAN FANS OVER ac ATI SILENCER.IVE HAD BOTH MY X800'S FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND THE ZALMAN STILL COOLS LIKE DAY 1. THE AC ATI SILENCER 5 REV. 2 RUNS MY CARD HOT AROUND 73DEG. USED TO COOL IT 42 UNDER EXTREME LOAD. IT JUST WORE OUT I THINK.

If I would you I would flash it with X850XT but not X850XT PE. The X850XT (520/540MHz in most cases allows better overclockability than X850XT PE BIOS or will voltmod the core to handle stable 540MHz.

I will try that

I read about voltmodding with a pencil! Is that how u suggest performing that? Another thing is what do u think i should do about my ATI silencer 5 Rev 2 Cooler allowing my card to go in excess of 70 DEG F? I have reseated it 3 times with no considerable change.I think all my thermal pads and rubber rings are pretty much worn out.

The only way to reach 520 plus (530 for instance) is to voltmod the Vcore. (1,45V or max. 1.5V would be enough). Only then you can use X850XT BIOS for 1xVGA/1xDVI. (be carefull because most of the XT BIOSes are for dual DVI). You can find 1xVGA/1xDVI X850XT non VIVO BIOS here in the "BIOS collection" but if you have VIVO GTO2 - you should contact me because I have my special mods of dual DVI X850XT and XT PE BIOSes to 1xVGA/1xDVI.

Usually X800GTO2's are DUAL DVI and VIVO. and the XT bios doesn't flash well on the X800GTO2. The result is that the FAN won't spin and the core will overheat up to 80°c. I know, because I have done that BIOS flash..

The ATI Silen cer 5 rev 2 will make the X800GTO2's memory overclock to around 620 mhz, and the core fully stable and never reaching 60°c at 500Mhz. Thoe since the card is missing power, the GPU will lock past 510mhz while performing 3D.

Most GTO2's are with 1xVGA/1xDVI (Sapphire, HIS X800GTO has the same PCB). The GTO2's should be with VIVO and R480 (but it is not sure especially the last GTO2 with R430). GTO2 with 1xVGA/1xDVI are different (different connectors layout) from the standard X850XT PE which is produced only with 2xDVI but in princip the same PCB. Yes there is GTO2's with dual DVI but they are called LE (limited edition).

The problem with the stopping is well known and the reason is the fan itself. This problem will disappear if ATI Silencer 5 rev.2 will be installed. I am warmly recommending it. The temperature will go down and probably won't exceeds 65-70C at any condition. That card is X850XT or XT PE and it "deserves" that BIOS.

My card is a X800GTO2 DUAL DVI VIVO and the XT or XT PE bios does not work on this card. I have tried it and I have given you the symptoms. Now if you are in to stretch that MOST are not DUAL DVI, that is your call. My board IS a Limited Edition.

Ok

My card is the GTO2LE sapphire Dual DVI VIVO. I flashed The 16 PIPE GTO@ bios to it today. It seems to be running better not going over 74 DEG C. When i First got this card and Put my Artic Cooler on it idle temp was 29DegC Under load it didnt go over 42C on GPU and 56C on MEM @ 531/635. Now its 41C Idle and 77 or so Under Load.BTW i have removed and replaced it twice trying to get it reseated to cool like its supposed to, Only to leave me assuming my ACooler is Bent or something to that effect.I.E. its not cooling like it's supposed to.Anyway when i run 520/540 It locks up in Americas Army(but only if i run higher than LOW/NORMAL Settings). This Sucks :-( I have a Question! Does any of the X1300-X1600 series outperform the X800-X850 series cards?

1) You obviously didn't put the AS 5 rev 2 properly if it isn't seated fully. It is possible to do so by putting gaskets in wrong order or parts in wrong places.

2) X1300 and X1600 series (all of them) are generally quite slower than X800 series, orverclocked or not. Only advantage of X1x00 series is they are SHADER 3.0 compliant vs X800 which are SHADER 2.0 compliant. But few games actually take any advantage or need to have 3.0 specs. So X800 does the job most of the time. X1x00 series also have HDR, but since X1300 and X1600 are slow in most cases, HDR won't be practical.

it is right

I had it installed correctly the first time but i forgot to tighten the cooler up after the 2 week or so burn in. But i tightened it up after about a month and a week to no avail.Since that time its been loosing efficiency to cool my card.Ive tried reseaing it to get it to cool again but its not working. I have it together right and everything is where it suppose to be but the temps.
