Something I don't understand.
X99A Raider + i7 6950x @4300 + DDR4 2133Mhz (4x16GB) double channel -> Aida Read Memory 51668 MB/s
Same values but with DDR 3200Mhz -> Aida Read Memory 45436 MB/s

Somehow, I'm not particularly worried about it, especially since most games maintain a stable 60fps 2K and the average and minimum are also higher. I'm just wondering why it looks like this.
My knowledge of the topic of overclocking processors and hardware in general is in order Pentium 200MMx @3x75, Celeron 300A @4.5x100 and the last one is Core2Duo E7400 @ 3270 Mhz.
So, it was an extremely simple thing to do.
Here I am confused, especially since different manufacturers use different terms in the bios

Turned out to be sata 1 & 2 could not be used at the same time only either or so either a asus sabertooth board defect or bios defect cared over and over :kookoo:

Here it is showing p1 & 2 being used and one stick off lol drove me crazier than usual rma'ed the memory three times

Just drop frequency to 3000MHz.
I prefer that since it doesn't drop channels and is easier to stabilise (at least on my MB), also UnCore/NB is more happy at this setting too (below results is with ~1.05V on VCCSA/VCCIO [checked with multimeter] and 1.5V on RAM) :

x99 looks interesting. You can apparently grab 16 core Xeons for about $100? Doesn't seem bad...

That's right, that was the only time I was able to run this motherboard in quad channel. I completely forgot about it.
Hi,
Forgot about what ?
Forgot to check bios to see if all four stick are showing up or checking cpu-z and see in the os if all four sticks are showing up at 3200 ?

X99, like X58 and X79 before, is become a very good value option for those that need a reasonable level of performance for a bargain price. The catch is the motherboard prices..

That's right, that was the only time I was able to run this motherboard in quad channel. I completely forgot about it.
I'd bet that those sticks would run fine at 2400mhz or even 2667mhz. 3200 seem to be pushing them way beyond what they can run at.

Just drop frequency to 3000MHz.

I don't know. That might be pushing it a bit for some CPU's and combos of RAM.

I'm moving into Senior living in a few weeks and decided to complete my final X99 build. I had everything needed on hand so it's less stuff to move as parts. I was going to go with a 6950X at first then decided to use my E5 2699 V4 instead. More than twice the cores, better silicon, same power consumption, easier to cool and much better for doing A/V production work. It's more of a build for grins and to use up loose parts I have on hand than anything else.

CPU: Xeon E5 2699 V4. 22c 44t of Xeon goodness.
Mobo: Asus Rampage V Edition 10
RAM: 128GB G.Skill TridentZ DDR4 3333 (the Xeon is locked at 2400MHz + whatever BLCK I can milk out of it stable).
GPU: EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3
PSU: Seasonic Focus GX-850
NVMe: Samsung 970 EVO 2TB
Audio: Asus Xonar Essence STX II 7.1
Case: Modded Corsair Carbide White 500R. It took some minor Dremel surgery to top mount the 280mm AIO and eATX mobo.
AIO: Arctic Liquid Freezer II w/ Silverstone FHP-141 V2's at full speed (171cfm each)
Optical Drive: LG M-Audio DVD burner
Storage drives: I have several Samsung 850 & 860 1Tb's along with very low hour WD 2TB, 4TB & 8TB spinning rust drives.
OS: Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC IoT

It should be fun to play with when completed. Everything is done except for swapping the CPU's, adding the SATA wiring to the PSU, installing the extra storage and the operating system. I booted it into BIOS with the 6950X this afternoon. Getting old and having to downsize is a real bitch.

I'm astonished at the prices, $0.92 for a E5-2630 v3 on AliExpress. Even the once-mighty Ivy Bridge king (E5-2697 v2 12-core) is going for $18. I'm tempted to build something just for fun.

Something I don't understand

If you observe a performance decrease, this means that it is erroring out and correction is costing your memory cycles. Lower DDR speed and/or re-do timings.

Edit: just realized this post is a year old, LOL! Wonder if you ever fixed it? (sorry for the email you'll be getting haha)

They're fun for sure. It's always cool to build a little dual socket with octo channel memory and see what it can do. My dual 2698v4 will do 100GB/s with 2133 CL16. Even if you don't do dual socket there is plenty to be had with normal x99 boards.
