To be honest the Wii plays kinda childish games, and for the few FPS's which do exist on Wii, the graphics aren't that great. Don't really want one.

And speaking of honesty, I won't be paying for any of my 360 games if I get one :D

Also I won't be driving for at least another year, the minimum age in England is 17, I'm 16 :(

Consoles = few FPS's

:respect:PC

Ipod is nice, if you have the use for it. Its great if you travel or take the bus to places because you can watch tv shows/movies on it and have a libary of music. One thing to think about is with a ipod video you need a good computer to convert movies to mp4 with videora ipod convertor(free)... thats one reason why I upgraded my computer to a c2d, from a p4.

atm I hardy use my ipod.. it is one of/if not the best mp3/video player around without question. I used it alot more when I was going to the gym, watching movies while doing cardio was great.

Hey if you ask me though a psp owns, it has a very large screen for movies, you can flash it so you can back-up you games to flash cards and its even cheaper than ipod.. minus the 2-4 gigs sony flash card. It also plays music but its just a bigger device, good enough if your not using it for cardio/going to the gym.

I VOTE PSP!

I'll certainly be converting some movies to iPod format, but with this Pentium D it's gonna take a while lol..

I never actually thought about a PSP, but I don't think it's really suited to me. Hand held games consoles aren't really my thing. And there's not enough memory on those things. Plus the fact it's too easy to brick it with messed up firmware.

Because you have an iPod Video (from what it seems), is there any sort of skip protection for running and jumping about and such?

um. childish games? Try the games sometime. They "look" kiddy, but really, its about game mechanics, not what it looks like. almost ALL of the games are fun as hell. Ever play animal crossing? That was painfully addicting for a while.

Just because it doesn't have ZOMGDROOL violence, gore, and obscenitys, doesn't mean the games suck.

But coming soon.. super smash brothers...

drool.

That is the one game, to rule them all.

I guess it depends what you're into.. I'm mostly an FPS sort of person, and Wii doesn't really cater for types like me.

that is all.

Spending money on a PC to upgrade it to play the latest FPS's constantly for the rest of your life = you fail at life

Much rather spend that money on a loved one or something better than a PC. Lucky for my PC I don't have a loved one lol...

The whole point of me getting a 360 is so I never have to upgrade to play the latest games nicely. At my age money doesn't come easy. No pocket money, full time student means I can only get a weekend job, which also happens to be the only time I can go out and have fun.

Sorry if that sounded harsh.

I play every game I have on an x850xt.

Its perfectly fine, and I got it for $45.

Why must you upgrade? ;)

You don't HAVE to have full aa/af on 24/7 to play a game you know. If you can't enjoy a game with a slight dial in graphics, you aren't playing a game to play a game, you're playing to look at eye candy.

Yea but I can't even play the new Colin McRae. My card doesn't even run it because it's SM3.0 only, and my X1300 is too weak to play it even on 800x600 all low settings. Lags like fuck.

This is the reason you have to upgrade. I can't even play new games anymore. It's ridiculous. A 360 won't give me this kind of harsh treatment.

It's going to be like this forever, upgrade after upgrade. I can't afford this...

As for the comment about eye candy, it's completely not true. You can become A LOT more immersed in a game if it looks realistic, than if every bad guy is a square.

Take FEAR as an example. It's not scary without the lighting effects and creepy shadows. Looks terrible on lower settings. I can't get scared by little creepy square girl.

"Ohhh look at me, I'm gonna hurt you with my shapes!!" *stabs you with rectangle hand*

If you upgrade right, you only have to every 3 years or so. I can't belive we have a PC gamer leaving us:shadedshu

I gamed PC thru my younger years too. Consoles suck after you get used to PC. Belive me I have tried to go back and it's not happening.

PSP is the best portable IMO because it can play MP3s, Games, and Movies.

Nooooo I'm coming back to PC's when I get a steady income. But for now consoles seem better for my pocket. :D

When the time is right, I will build a completely new rig, which like you say only has to be upgraded every few years...

If I wanted I could just buy an 8800 GTS 320MB and game like no tomorrow (even though my CPU stucks it would still pwn), but then I need a new PSU to power THAT, and the upgrade loop starts all over.

Or I could just buy an X1950XTX and new CPU + Mobo, but I just don't see my money going into this thing as a good investment. I need to start from ground up.

Maybe later on this year I'll build a new rig.

Like my friend. He has a 3200+ 64, X1800XT and 2 gigs of DDR 400 2-2-2-5. He can play every game there is out now on Max still. Granted he plays on 1280x768 but some games he plays at 1600X1280 he played oblivion(Few slow downs) at 1600X1200 for ever untill he went HDR/AA which he plays that at 1024x768. He also plays FEAR at 1600X1280 with everything on max and has few slow downs.

The X1950PRO is faster than his card, and you can get his CPU for 30USD. Heck you can get a CPU/Motherboard for 60 USD and the video card for around 100-130 USD NEW. Memory cost about 100 for 2 gigs of the normal DDR2 or DDR.

Urgh I hate Nero, that programs gives me hassle every time I use it.

I'll just get a 3rd party coverter.

Even now that the program is uninstalled, I STILL get errors relating to Nero.

Never again will I use that bag of crap.

nope, it dont skip ever I think its like 25 min anti skip or something lol eg.running for 25 mins, but even tha it never skipped on me.

If I was to by today I would go psp, hell I think its even droped in price in the UK and the USA, not in Canada though :(. The screen is a huge bonus for watching movies/tv clips, you should try and test one out for gamming I dont find em that bad at all control wise.. only thing ipod beats it at is as a music player because of size/portability.

It all sounds very good but my mind is made up.

You'll lose me for about a year max :)

Try not to cry ;_;

As for graphics, if a game can't immerse you without "looking good" then... imo, the game isn't worth playing.

Doom 3 will scare you wether you're playing at 800x600 or 1600x1200. THAT is how you make a game.

Shouldn't run with Ipod mini's, or ipod video's. They're hard drive based. While you -probably- wont cause any problems, its quite possible to harm the hard drive.

The nanos and shuffles are solid state. That means, you can ride the space shuttle.

But "rather" does not cut it my friend..

"Ultra" enjoyable does... MMMMMMHMMMMMMMMM

:p

Well you won't get this from a console with racing games.

Ever try it?

You get like 17fps. the controls are painfully bad.

I say get a 1950pro when the price comes down, but either way dont sell you pc.. maybe upgrade your card than sell the old one to buy a mp3 player.. there are plenty other great cheaper mp3 players.. here I seen a nice samsung 1 gig models on sale for 50$ from 180$ last week.. mind you they sold out quick lol but I see deals like this alot. samsung makes nice phones mp3 hummmz... everthings lol. but they make some wicked phones so I think thier mp3s would rock too.

I got 2 years left on the warranty for my ipod video :) I beat the thing around a fair amount without problems... I sprint alot with it loose in my napsack.. I sprint real fast. Ipods are tuff enough in my view.
