Recently I got 64GB G.Skill RAM for my E5-2699V3 & Rampage V Extreme setup. I managed to lower the timings to 5-9-7-10-1T which was benchmark stable in Cinebench R15. Has anyone else ever managed to get DDR4 to such low DDR2-level timings?

That's really great timings for ddr4 but as I can see on that picture that you post above you have 4x8Gb right?I was asking did anyone tried 64Gb module(1slot)

Well ideally the DDR4 is 4 times faster than DDR2 same with the timings is times 4 higher. You may want to test it further with different benchmark softwares than just testing it by Cinebench R25 on it own

Some benchmarks are not stable on CAS 5 and the run can only be completed when CAS is set at 9. This is not my daily driver, just the setup used for benchmarking. My goal was to break HWBot records, but I did not manage to break any records even with such low timings.

Yeah but all depends on what timings as certain one set too low can lead to corruption on the operating system. It will take alot of time and reinstalling just to break records. Sometimes you might get a dud memory sticks or cpu imc that won't like low timings or too high on frequency

Just an update got the 2011 mounting kit this morning from Noctua. So I be able to use my C12P-SE14 heatsink for 2011 socket motherboard whenever I get a chance to buy it. Just a matter of finding a suitable xeon chip that fits the requirements. Any recommendations of which one will I order?

Was thinking either x79 or x99 platform all depends on what is available online even had look around something like a combo with motherboard, xeon chip and 32gb ram. Preferably with avx available as part of the requirement since I like to play with emulation and video encoding. Possibly 8 cores or more depending on the budget

Then you have a great selection of CPU's that are still relevant today. X99 is likely the better choice and a 1660 V4 is the goto price/performance CPU for that platform, but there are other good models as well.

BTW, What motherboard where you looking at?

The X99 is overly priced in my opinion but I had a look at ASUS P9X79 with E5-2680 and 32gb of ram closer to my budget limit but not too sure what speed or model is the ram as it could be non ECC or ECC module. But did come across something extremely unusual is a Chinese board 2011-3 with 2680 V3 18c 36c and 128gb for €325 somewhere in Europe including postage. Trouble is I'm in Ireland only possible choices is in Europe only as If I have to order something outside of Europe like the UK or USA I have to pay more for tax, vat and custom charges which is somewhat more expensive to buy anything. But I might hold out for another while till I upgrade the system. Also thanks for given me a list for possible choices of xeon cpu

I don't understand what's so funny. I have achieved 28 world records in Haswell Xeon overclocking with BIOS mod and undervolt. However, I could not beat several HWbot records and upon close inspection of the submissions, I noticed that while the competition's CPU clocks were lower than mine, they were using the RAM with CAS10. So I acquired the RAM which could do even lower timings. I never said that breaking the records was easy. Ofcourse it's unlikely to be so blatant, maybe just a few percent to make a difference. I sometimes wounder when they have OC meets to break records whether they actually measure BCLK with external equipment or rely solely on software that is running on the same equipment it is measuring.

So it apparently getting harder to get a decent combo with cpu, motherboard and ram let alone people selling cpu and motherboard on it own then having to shell out more money to get ram for it. But at the moment not buying anything just yet because I have other priorities that needs sorting out

If I've looked up the specs for your system properly, you should be able to easily upgrade to a Xeon X5675.

If you're open to boards from lesser known brands, a good value can be had for both x79 & x99.

To be fair there are plenty of cheaper dual socket 1366 and 2011 socket boards out there. Don't need a full case to run a server.
