Xiaomi, the China-based electronics juggernaut that has carved itself into most markets with its aggressive price/performance ratios, has just announced two new gaming monitors in its new Mi Surface Display lineup. First up is a 34", 21:9 UltraWide monitor with a resolution of 3440 x 1440. This one also carries a 144 Hz refresh rate monitor with support for AMD FreeSync (which might also mean it is G-Sync compatible). This same panel offers a 1500R curvature, which is somewhat treated as a must in larger diagonal 21:9 monitors, and Xiaomi is quoting a 5 ms GtG response time, which, paired with the 144 Hz refresh rate, should be more than enough for all but the most seriously competitive gamers.

Color coverage is being quoted at 121% of the sRGB color gamut. The bezels are reportedly around the 2mm mark in the 34" model. The stand and the monitor's connection is ensured by a magnetic clasp. The 34" monitor is being joined by a 1080p, 24" monitor as well, of which there were no additional details being shared. Connectivity details also weren't shared at time of writing. Xiaomi's new Mi Surface Display 34" is priced at 2,499 Yuan (around $352).

I would love to see a 32" 4K monitor with at least 100HZ refresh rate from this company.

TN? VA? IPS? Regardless, that's a steal.

Exactly I would probably buy 2 just because

That 24" peaked my interest. Knowing Xiaomi it should be around the $200 mark.

I wish these were easier to source in Europe. 1500R is fantastic for an ultrawide and getting it for $350 is epic.
Sadly, I suspect getting hold of one over here will mean it's €500 or more after importers have taken their fees and the tax man adds his 20%. The only Xiami products that aren't grey imports are a tiny selection of phones, it would seem.

As a rule of thumb, IPS panels don't curve. Yes there are a bunch of monitors on the market with curved IPS panels but the curvature is so gentle (4000R, 3000R) that they may as well be flat for the purposes of a desktop display at sitting distance.

You certainly won't find a cheap curved IPS because even introducing a very minimal curve to an IPS panel requires so much panel reinforcement and quality-control just to hit mediocre levels of backlight uniformity and to avoid horrendous bleeding at the edges. Early curved IPS and current cheap(er) curved IPS all suffer from uniformity and bleed issues, sadly.

$352 not bad at all. Meanwhile I would still prefer a high refresh rate 4k panel

THIS please. We finally have GPUs that can run 4K high-refresh decently. Still waiting on proper monitors..
