I was obsessed with water cooling for a long time. Now i prefer simplicity and reliability, which is air cooling. My system is still quiet even with 10 fans in my big 7000D case using a OCTO for fan control.

i like water or air just the same, i have two custom watercooling riggs for one simple reason i build mainly custom loops for folks i get so many left overs and customer hand me downs it would be a shame to let them go to waste.

Yeah, both my gpu and cpu are undervolted aswell.

Not undervolting quite as much as you, as it's not needed - running 2700 mhz at 925mv, which keeps it below 70c with 800 rpm :)
That was a lucky golden sample I kept for myself after doing a quick and dirty undervolting stability test on about 20-30 cards though. Based on forums and community oc/us spreasheets at the time, it was nearly the best result anyone ever had ever publicly posted. Most of them became unstable 875-950mv....

This is how my fans run, using GPU temp as a controller source. Is quiet gaming and temps are under control cause of so much air flow.

Must have been, yeah - lowest mine can do is 925mv before i gotta start dropping the clocks. Though honestly 2600 mhz at 900mv doesn't really make that much of a performance difference either, which makes sense since it's only a clock reduction of 3%.

Nice, so less than 50% in actual usage - what does that equate to in rpm for your fans ?

Hardtubing is for masochists with too much time :D.

I'll tip my hat to them, but I have more important things to do with my life, such as arguing on the internet from my parents' home in Wyoming or crawling out of bed on a Sunday to reach for a gamepad and TV remote.

Only reason for hard over soft tubing, is for posting cute pics of it on forums. Temps are the same either way.

Sorry i have no idea, i never check, maybe i will have some proggie on my other screen while gaming and look.

This is not always that correct. I planned a full softtube Custom loop. But at some spaces i need to do it in Hardtube because i don't have enough space to have the radiusses needed for Softtubes. If you have i.e. a RAM Block and three SSD's blocks under water you better use hardtubes to get the forces off the mainboard. Otherwise you will have forces at the SSD socket you don't want to have. Especially if you have a vertical GPU in front of that SSD-slots.

What's wrong with a right-angle fitting instead of going with the huge effort investment of hardtubing?
That seems like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Nice, I keep mine like this:

1715276697373.png

Forgive the paint, I do not have access to my PC right now.

Under 40% its not audible. So at idle all the way up to 80C it is at 30%. Then When above 80C it goes to 45% which is somewhat audible. My GPU fan control settings are around the same but everything is bumped up 20-30%.

Just think about radiusses of <= 10 cm/4". ;) The socket gets such a pressure that it gets damaged.

Indeed its a nice case. I might go water with next build. Im pretty much forced to it. With the way cpu power and heat goes. Aircooling does not sufficient any more. At least not for the high-end parts.

I'd recommend going dual thin 480 rads just like I've done. However the case has very little space for rads so it's imperative to get the best thin rads bar none. I'm using HWL...

I will take it in to account. But upgrade is not in my plan for at least a year or two more.

Nice, hadn't thought about using a datavac to speed the process up.

I usually plonk it on the kitchen counter, drop the drain hose into the sink and go make a cuppa, then I jam one hose up the kitchen cold tap and give a good flush.

Datavac would potentially get more residual, ionised, baceteria-riddled, chlorinated tap water out before filling it with coolant!

You should also get an inline filter. I use a corrosive solution, ie. vinegar to do some hard scrubbing and the inline filter catches the big debris' which keeps it from lodging somewhere else in the loop. Once that is run for some length of time, I break it open and datavac it. Two pre-rinses then final coolant, etc etc.

Used to be full AIO, cpu and gpu both.

Upgraded after 5 years, moved to custom loop but carried over the gpu for now. So technically I'm custom loop cpu + aio gpu, but that wasn't a choice on the poll.

I went with full custom loop as my vote, since when I do eventually upgrade gpu the plan is to incorporate it into the loop.

The old system became my backup/workspace system so both those AIO's are still kicking after 6 years now.

Air all the way.

I'm a silence freak, and from what I understand, air cooling can be better than water cooling for silence.

I have four 140mm Noctua fans in my system that run between 400 and 700 RPM at idle, and they're basically silent.

Air. I need it to work with no maintenance for a long time until the toothpaste hardens and I put new toothpaste on. No K-skus, Ryzens run at stock (tho I OC/UV the R5 2600 sometimes), GPUs undervolted and run at or below stock TDPs.

I am uninterested in 5% more performance for 50% more power, except when benchmarking.
I am interested in 5% less performance for 25% less power instead.
