No they don't, as most of us know. But this is probably going to open up a huge grey market of companies selling returned 970s to people like me, who will buy 2 or 4 of them and be happy it happened.

No, because the retailers can resell the cards and will also get a spike in sales of 980, and so in turn will not sue the board partners and in turn the board partners will not sue Nvidia, as there no grounds to lawsuit as no financial damage was done to them,the part where Nvidia makes money is when the board partners order more 980 cores because they are going to be low on those.

The funny thing is that even with how dishonest Nvidia was about the 970 every one wants to return theirs just to upgrade to the 980 and not switch to AMD, and there are also a bunch of people who wants to buy those used 970's, if anything Nvidia will make even more money from this.

It almost happened to me. The case was mounted on the side of the desk, and it was older case that was about the same height as the table and my grandmother tipped the drink I poured myself and it started to flow towards the case. The whole table was wet, some got on top of the case and some got in the case thru the top fan hole but luckily didn't drip any further, just a little on the top fan blades.

Youre reading too much into it. Some form of the issue existed with those cards, but let's be honest, the 660 was never powerful enough to truly expose it to the average user, and the Titan is too powerful to matter.

this is interesting to me because I have been reading into heterogeneous, xeon phi and parallelism for some time now.. seems to be some of the most advanced things we have going on that will continue to trickle down into consumer hands for fast and efficient experiences.
a gpu has hundreds of cores that work in parallel and nv has messed up this parallelism.. truth be told these are flawed horrible products that no one buy.
I bet intel and hsa engineers are laughing because they know you cant make a gpu like this.
If amd wanted to they could make videos showing how flawed they really and honestly they should for the sake of properly advancing technology.

This is the main reason why no one really noticed it or got bothered over it. But GTX 970 is right in the middle of both. It's powerful enough, but not too powerful. And when you expect it do to something well, it screws you over by stalling to a crawl when you least expect it to do that...

Not everyone but the reason most people got a 970 and not a 980 is because the 970 is simply a way better deal and not because they could not afford a 970.
