Zotac Readies GeForce GTX 480 Amp! Edition Graphics Card

Seems like a step backwards to me. i mean c'mon what was the last triple slot card to hit the market?

Palit Revolution 700 4870x2, iirc.

A GTX275 pulls more than 200W+ too and there was a GTX295 isn't it? In fact, the GTX470 doesn't suck much more power than the GTX275 at all.
The point is the kind of performance it will get :slap:
If it isn't going to be too much faster than a GTX 480 and a 5970 then why bother?

no its you yanks that have it wrong. us and teh Europeans use day-month-yeah going from what changes the most so on and so forth. The logical and CORRECT way the american way month-day-year makes no sense,

though what i also find odd delta is you being in Indiana yet your pic is an Australian race series.

now back OT that looks kickarse. now have they overclocked it? cause i thought the AMP! series where thier overclocked cards

Actually, I think it doesn't matter who's wrong but who's practical. I am European and i find it very hard to name files with dd-mm-yyyy format, for example, and then sort them by name, appropriately. In this case it always sort them by days. Which is useless, if you ask me. But when I format names like mm-dd-yyyy, then they are always sorted chronologically when sorting them by names. Sorry for the OT.

Back to the useless POS three-slot card by Zotac. Don't even bother trying to calculate a power envelope of SLI config with two of these. No fanboyism here, but I'd rather go with RandomBrand 2*2 slot, 2*5970 CFX config FTW. And keep it well below 1kW... not just below.

nVidia screwed it up with 4xx, technologically it just leaves a bitter taste of decadence, not enough innovation and poor bang4buck, I think...

EDIT: btw, good point Zubasa. Regarding power draw, I don't think that even Eurocom won't be able to cram two of these in a 'laptop', even M-versions.

Why wouldn't it be faster? 470 SLI scales wonderfully, hell Fermi as a whole scales wonderfully, slightly better than AMD cards overall, so why wouldn't a card based on 2 GTX470's be faster than a 5970 (which is mostly 2x5850) when a single 470 is overally 8% faster than a single 5850? And as to the 480, of course it would be much faster.

Oh BTW :slap: take it back since I didn't deserve it. :)

The VF3000 cooler hit these card b4 it releases? What BS. I'm waiting for it but I don't want to buy a new card.

Same thing happened with Accelero Xtreme, people were waiting those and first patch went to card makers. But it's out in a week and I doubt this card is out the same time :)

A single GTX 465 still pulls 200W+ and two of them sucks more power than even a 4870X2, so the answer is still no ;)
Unless they clock down the 465, but in that case why bother?

Agreed ohwf... F**** nvidia:mad:

Pretty quick with the changes from the original design on the new Fermi cards. Coolness.
