They have to realize this isn't selling, there are oled 480hz 2k resolution cheaper..

I doubt 2.5inch bigger becomes unplayable, just put the monitor a tad more away.
I also doubt 120hz increase is enough to make it more clear vs an oled, even with dyac2, due to the instant response of oled.
Now, i don't say it doesnt have a space BUT its not at 1200eur when the oled are cheaper, its at 500-600 eur.
 
The benefits of OLED have out weighed Zowie. It's time for Zowie to adapt.
 
Well, they aren’t kidding about it being an “e-sports” monitor - unless you are a Tier 1 CS professional this thing makes more or less no sense. Then again, even the description of its features is solely focused on LAN use. They aren’t even pretending that this has any use for a normal home setup.
 
TN is TYPICALLY gross but not all the time. Zowie has done a pretty good job with their panels reproducing colour. Would I ever need or want one that can do 600fps? No. I do appreciate them pushing the envelope.

The problem is that only a few high framerate OLED displays (technically only ASUS ROGs with ELMB and the older LG C1 from what I can see) have BFI/backlight strobing which reduces persistence blur a lot in fast motion games that require precise flick shots, like CS2 and Valorant (and to an extent OW2). What makes it worse there aren't any that are also 23.5" to 24.5" that can fit within 1 foot away from the user's face.

Surely not worth $1000 for a Fast-TN panel, but thats chump change for professional gaming orgs. I'm pretty sure they don't mass-produce these monitors as much as the other "gaming" monitors being sold.

Nah, it's gross alright. The same criticism I leveled at the EIZO monitor that was recently reviewed here at TPU, the technology itself is a problem and no matter how high grade the panel is, it just won't measure up. A 480Hz OLED is probably gonna have better motion than this could ever reproduce even with DyAc... it's gonna sell on the BenQ/Zowie name alone, just like that EIZO monitor will sell on the EIZO name alone.

Both are past their prime and should not be purchased by anyone who is serious about a monitor in their respective niches

OLED is self emissive technology, therefore backlight strobing does not really exist with this type of panel. LG removed the black frame insertion feature from newer OLED models mostly because it is no longer needed and it had bugs

Yeah, BFI and backlight strobing are the same technology, but with LCDs they also utilized lowering the brightness of the backlight along with inserting a black frame. With an OLED, they simply just need to insert the frame.

LG removed BFI (OLED Motion Pro) from the C3 and up because no one was really using the feature, and it was only at 60 Hz (since it was a 120Hz panel) with black frames inserted every second frame. Also, it did add around 4ms input lag which I believe was one of notable issues of that panel.

It's not available on my G3 that's for sure. But motion clarity on it is pretty much about as good as it gets for a panel of its size and refresh rate imo

Yeah G3 and C3 are the same newer panel so they won't have any OLED Motion Pro anymore, but thats fine as the improvement was the better MLA panel and (slightly) higher brightness. My 42" C4 doesn't have it either, but hey 144Hz at 4K (and even more brightness!). LOL
 
I think I will just stick with a NEC/Sharp.

I guess I'm not the display snob so many are nowadays. I have two Zowies and they do fine.

There is no bad hardware, only bad prices. Unfortunately I don't see BenQ placing anything within this brand positioned as a budget offering, and it just doesn't have the technology required to match its exquisite price tag.

An OLED will easily last more than 5 years. This is starting to smell like that SSD fearmongering of the early 2010s...

My LG G3 is at 4114 hours, no sign of image retention whatsoever. A year has around 8760 hours, and I purchased it in September 2023. It's just the beginning of January 2025 now, so it spent almost 50% of the time I have owned it powered on. OLEDs will hold up fine, just like CRTs held up fine all those years. Just keep the burn in mitigations enabled and use a screensaver or turn it off with your remote when you go AFK (which is what I do)

Notice their comparison does not have OLED in the mix. Most of their selling point is fast response time... OLED panels have instant GtG response time. Read this, it's from someone who actually knows what they are talking about instead of marketing slides:

Have you actually checked with videos such as this?

I'd get an OLED at an instant if burn-ins weren't a problem. I know they are as my friend's LG TV had quite a bit burn ins
 
This one aside from being Asus seems to be good. Just hope you never need to return it.
 
Need 1000Hz, 1440p and 38” Ultra-wide or no buy.
