I started with an IKEA work table purchased in 2004, it has a composite top and steel frame. Constructed an equipment tub 40 inches long and 22 and 1/8ht wide with cutouts for 4 120mm intake fans and 4 exhaust fans not counting the dual fans on the coolers making the final count on all fans 17. Found a momentary switch on the net that also supported a blue light ring for the power light for about 8 bucks. The add on surfaces are all wood, the build required about a dozen hand tools and with materials and various extensions for the parts on the perimeter, the out of pocket expense was about $150.00 not counting the original price of the table itself. I got the idea for the original build from MaximumPC's 2010 dream machine. There are much more details that would outstrip the space here, but you can contact me for any questions, I built the core machine in July of 2011 and although it has been passed by with more modern hardware, this thing fly's through video editing and Skyrim my favorite game so I won't be changing any time soon.
