The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Launches Today - Available on PC, Xbox X|S & PS5

The "walkout" moment is a staple of Bethesda Game Studios' titles, and there are few that have stuck with me as much as emerging from the sewer-set tutorial of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. That makes it all the more incredible, 19 years later, to see it in thoroughly modern form in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered—which arrives today. I watch as a newly-built character loads into the wide open world of Cyrodiil (R.I.P. Emperor Septim)—they turn to see the landscape I know so well in new and improved form. Mist wreathes around the top of nearby mountains, seen again in distorted reflections on the wholly reworked water below. A sunrise cuts across the world, casting long shadows across gorgeous new foliage. Behind me, an even more imposing Imperial City stands proudly, blotting out the horizon behind it. And then, we're interrupted by an unscripted attack from a Mud Crab. It might look all-new, but this is Oblivion alright.

Oblivion Remastered—All the Updates
Oblivion Remastered comes to Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and the Xbox App for Windows PC) and PlayStation 5. It's also available day one with Game Pass and, with Xbox Play Anywhere, one purchase on an Xbox platform means you can play on Xbox consoles, Windows PC, and cloud with full cross-entitlements and cross-saves. Designed in co-operation with the remaster specialists at Virtuos, Oblivion Remastered keeps the core of the original game intact (and includes the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions), but drapes it in an incredible new visual style, powered by Unreal Engine 5. Alongside 4K resolution, 60 frames per second performance, all-new textures, lighting effects, and landscape improvements, the game also updates everything from character, spell, and weapon animations, to dynamic time of day and weather effects.

Gedonia 2 Launched into Steam Early Access

The game is out now! Hello everyone! It's hard to believe, but the game is now available on Steam Early Access! After two years of hard work, me and my team are incredibly excited for all of you to finally give this game a try. We poured our hearts and souls into this project, and I can confidently say that this is the best and most ambitious game I've ever produced in 13 years of my game development journey!

But this is just the first step for the long road of Early Access for Gedonia 2. We will constantly improve our game based on your feedback and suggestions, and will try to fully realize our ambitious vision. Right now the game is in fairly solid state, based on our internal testing, but there still might be some bugs and issues in there, especially with multiplayer, which could produce some disconnects and other bugs. We will try to find and fix all of them in the next weeks post launch. Thank you all for your support over these years, and please, leave your feedback, we will read all of it!

Larian Releases Final Baldur's Gate 3 Patch; Studio Moving onto "Something New"

Well folks, this is it. Our final major game patch for Baldur's Gate 3. You've helped us make BG3 a bigger success than any of us could've ever hoped for, and that passion could keep us tweaking things and making changes until the end of time. But then we'd never be able to create something new. Outside of minor bug fixing, Patch 8 will be the last game patch to introduce new content. That means we won't be adding any new narrative content or significant changes to storylines, Origin characters, or companions. We've told our stories the way we needed to tell them, and tried our best to make them impactful and engaging, and we're continuing to get better at handling our own chaos so that we can continue to create more chaos in the future.

From the start, your feedback has been incredibly important to us, and will continue to shape our future projects. As Swen said during the Baldur's Gate 3 retrospective panel at PAX West in August of last year, it's time for the team to go back to our cave and hang the armor on the wall while we focus on bringing you our next project. If you're already feeling nostalgic, you can click here to watch our last Baldur's Gate 3 panel, where we looked back on Baldur's Gate 3, from early access through to release, and answered some of your questions. From patching in a way to change your appearance with the Magic Mirror, introducing Honor Mode for those of you looking for a hard time, and giving you new ways to make out with your romanced companion, to new cinematics for your most evil runs, and handing you the tools to create your own supported mods, Patch 8 now rounds off with cross-play, Photo Mode, and 12 new subclasses for you to enjoy.

Rebellion Developer Delves into Atomfall's Extensive Accessible Gameplay Feature Set

Last month, we released Atomfall, and it quickly became our most successful launch in the over 30-year history of Rebellion. We want to shine a light on something else we're proud of—how Atomfall is also Rebellion's most accessible title to date. Atomfall might offer challenges for those that want them, but it shouldn't be difficult to physically play. With that in mind, we want to showcase some of the standout accessibility features we've built to help everyone explore the mysteries of the Quarantine Zone. We've included features across motor, vision, audio and cognition, with many becoming accessibility firsts for the studio—including additional audio cues, directional indicators on subtitles, and more. We hope that the host of features, both in and outside of options, helps welcome more players to the Quarantine Zone.

Playstyle
We've built a world full of choice and we want players to be able to play their own way. So, instead of difficulty, Atomfall provides a choice of Playstyle. There are five preset Playstyles to choose from, including Investigator for those seeking more survival gameplay, Brawler for a combat-focused experience, and our default Atomfall experience in Survivor. Sightseer, on the other hand, is a preset which will allow more players to explore and enjoy the Quarantine Zone. It lessens combat and survival aspects and provides a boost to exploration to help you through the expansive Lake District and all its mysteries.

"Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake" Screenshots Leaked, "Shadow Drop" Reportedly Happening This Month

Rumors of a forthcoming "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake" launch popped up online last month; as predicted by NatetheHate. The veteran leaker—of video games industry inside info—proposed a public unveiling; scheduled in at some point within a March to April window. Since then, data miners have combed through various web presences—including Virtuos' online site. Going back to 2021, leaks suggested that this Chinese contract development house was deeply involved in the reimagining/modernizing of Bethesda's 2006 smash-hit.

Yesterday, Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb posited that a formal introduction of the alleged "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake" will happen "next week." Insiders reckon that the Unreal Engine 5-powered game will launch on "Xbox, PS5, PC, and Game Pass." Virtuos seems to be preparing itself for an imminent announcement; as evidenced by Elder Scrolls fans compiling leaked screenshots and promotional imagery within an Imgur album. Familiar locations and character designs are visible in gameplay captures. One visual "portfolio" grab compares the speculated new version to Bethesda's original build (2006 vs. 2025).

Square Enix Reveals SaGa Emerald Beyond Add-on for Vampire Survivors

Happy Anniversary to SaGa Emerald Beyond! The fabulously free-form RPG released April 25 last year, so it's nearly a whole year old. They grow up so fast. To celebrate, we have a very exciting collaboration to announce—a new SaGa Emerald Beyond-themed update for the utterly awesome Vampire Survivors! Titled "Emerald Diorama," it adds loads of new content to the game, including a new stage, new weapons, new characters and more.

What is Vampire Survivors?
We're sure this game needs no introduction, but just in case some of you are yet to experience this intensely fun gothic horror survival game, allow us to introduce it. Developed by poncle, Vampire Survivors pits you against hordes of undead in fast-paced action, but you don't need to shoot - your character attacks automatically. This means you can focus on positioning, levelling up, finding new weapons and evolving them into new forms, discovering secrets and more. It's fast-paced, easy to play, full of depth and very, very absorbing. Fun fact: I play it on the train each day I travel to Square Enix HQ and have missed my stop at least 3 times as a result. Thanks to this new SaGa Emerald Beyond crossover, I expect it to happen again fairly regularly. I apologize to my employers in advance.

Grinding Gear Games Clarifies Path of Exile 2's Map Portals System, Publishes "Dawn of the Hunt" FAQ

During the livestream reveal of Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt, we discussed several things in the Q&A that we'd like to provide some further clarification on. In today's news post we'd like to start with additional information about Map Portals in Dawn of the Hunt! We'd like to clarify the situation with having to use portals each time you die. The concern raised during the Q&A was that you would be consuming portals to have to store items in your stash or trade with players. With so few portals, as low as one, you would not be able to leave the map and return.

Map Portals
We have made the following change to address this problem: you will now be able to enter and exit your Maps as much as you like as long as you haven't died. The number of portals is now representative of the number of revives you have during the Map, so if you are able to survive you can come and go as you please. We also wanted to clarify that when returning to a map after dying you will return to the last checkpoint, so if you forgot to make a portal you won't have to run through too much of an empty map to get back to where you died. We're also currently making a change which hopefully will make it for release, otherwise shortly after. This change is that when you die in a Map then revive, assuming you have any revives remaining, you will be instantly placed at the last checkpoint without any loading screens, so you don't need to return to your hideout and re-enter the map every time. We'll continue to provide further updates to topics discussed during the Q&A in the lead up to launch, so keep an eye on our announcements!

CD Projekt Red Anticipates "The Witcher IV" Release Window: After 2026

CD Projekt RED unveiled its primary development project late last year: The Witcher IV. A pre-rendered cinematic trailer—utilizing a highly-customized Unreal Engine 5 build running on mystery NVIDIA GPU—showcased next-generation visuals. As revealed by NVIDIA in the new year, a GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card acted as the processing conduit for CD Projekt Red's fantasy featurette. Months later, company leadership has divulged a very loose timeframe for the highly-anticipated sequel's eventual launch. During a recent call with investors—exploring financial results from 2024, and future forecasts—the company expects profits to climb consistently over the next three years. As highlighted by many news reports, long-term franchise fans will need to remain patient—CD Projekt's calendar for next year seems to be free of forthcoming AAA content: "even though we do not plan to release The Witcher 4 by the end of 2026, we are still driven by this financial goal."

Given the Polish company's flagship branch kicking into a "full production" high gear phase around late 2024, a project on the (triple-A+) scale of The Witcher IV would require a long gestation period. Renewed online theories have placed a potential release window somewhere in 2027, possibly coinciding with the rollout of next-gen consoles. A noted industry soothsayer and veteran games journalist—Jason Schreier (resident at Bloomberg)—weighed in on the matter. He has dismissed many predictive reports about The Witcher IV arriving in 2026, as well as Naughty Dog's "The Heretic Prophet"—commenting on this topic, he stated: "I'm pretty sure I said they were both going to be very early teases. Neither of those games will be out next year." Piotr Nielubowicz—CD Projekt's chief financial officer—did not go into specifics during his firm's recently concluded earnings call: "we are not going to announce the precise launch date for the game yet. All we could share now to give more visibility to investors is that the game will not be launched within the time frame of the first target for the incentive program, which ends December 31, 2026."

"Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake" Reportedly Due for Launch in April

A much-rumored remake of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2006) action role-playing game was the subject of recent debate; online tipsters proposed that the unannounced modernized version was on track for a potential mid-2025 launch. Going back to 2023, an ex-member of Virtuos—a Singapore, China-based video game development company—made claims on Reddit about the remake/remaster's apparent existence. Earlier this year, MP1st managed to extract further details from another ex-Virtuos team member—an accidental leak provided insight into the leaked project's technological underpinnings; Unreal Engine 5. According to MP1st's report, the "fully remade" version could arrive with updated gameplay systems and a much-improved HUD.

NatetheHate—a noted provider of video game insider knowledge—has adjusted his launch timeframe for Bethesda's "outsourced" Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake project. Previously, he predicted a June 2025 release window. An adjusted schedule brings things forward—as disclosed by an interaction on social media. The soothsayer reckons that Microsoft's flagship ARPG development team will make a related announcement: "either this month (March), or next month...likely sooner than the original June target, but still working to get details on an updated release date." In their coverage of NatetheHate's latest proclamation, Video Games Chronicle (VGC) cited other unnamed sources—based on word of mouth, they believe that the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake will launch in April. The VGC article touches on Virtuos being a veteran in the business of porting older/existing AAA titles to modern hardware platforms.

Level-5 Details Recent Studio Restructuring, Following Keiji Inafune's Mid-2024 Exit

Hello, this is Akihiro Hino, CEO of LEVEL5. For LEVEL5, 2025 is both a year of challenges and a year of great strides forward: yes, we are set to release three major titles! I know that many of you may be wondering: "Will they really be released on time? Won't there be delays again?" To address these concerns, I wanted to create a space where we could regularly update players on the progress of our game development. Throughout this journey, there will be exciting breakthroughs, but also unexpected obstacles. I want to use this blog to share as much as possible about what's happening behind the scenes—both the good and the challenging. More importantly, I hope that by doing so, we can move forward together with our fans, step by step, toward the completion of all our games.

Of course, not everything can be shared publicly. That said, I still want to convey my thoughts and experiences from the process with everyone—even if only on a personal level. For moments like these, I plan to use this blog as a way to share updates from a more "unofficial" point of view. It might sound a bit strange for a company president to say "unofficial," but the reality is that my perspective as the CEO and my perspective as a creator can sometimes be very different. In such cases, I want to walk that fine line and share as much as I can with our players, making the lead-up to these games exciting rather than just a long wait. I appreciate your support, and I hope you enjoy following along!
