Super Talent Introduces new Green-Line VLP for Servers

Super Talent Technology (San Jose, CA) announces a new line of Green-line series lower-power consumption DDR3 memory modules for severs.

These new eco-friendly modules feature lower operating voltages, lightweight and smaller form factors which improve cooling while continuing to satisfy the latest JEDEC standards. Super Talent engineers worked to reduced product height and succeeded with modules that measure 0.72 inches high; a full 39% reduction from a standard size module, yet can deliver speeds at 1600MHz and at 4GB capacities. The short form factor lets the system to run cooler by affording airflow across other components. These design also reduces the Voltage requirements a full 10%, from the traditional 1.5V traditional voltage to the new 1.35 volt standard.

Evercool Intros Ever Green Fan 12 Plus

Evercool rolled out the Ever Green Fan 12 Plus. This 140 mm spinner that can fit into 120 mm fan-mount holes, jumps into the "green" bandwagon by being made of eco-friendly materials, and using technologies that reduce power-draw and noise. Wherever possible the Ever Green minimizes plastic content, by using a thin round frame compared to a thick square one. It uses a lime-green frame, with a darker-green 9-blade impeller. The motor uses an "Ever Lubricated" bearing, which steps up the rated life-span all the way up to 40,000 hours. The fan spins at 1200 ± 10% RPM, with less than 23 dBA of noise output. The frame has a silicone gasket on one side, that absorbs vibrations. Rubber bolts, instead of metal screws are provided, that further reduce vibration transfer. Evercool did not give out pricing of the Ever Green Fan 12 Plus.

Simultaneously waste heat also decreases, extending the product lifespan, while lowering both fan speed and noise. This results in overall lower system temperature providing users a more comfortable working environment. Key components of the new N250GTS series are Solid State Chokes (SSC) and Solid Capacitors which follow the "Military Class Concept". These high quality components not only increase operating stability and product lifespan, but also prevents buzz noise under full load.

PowerColor Introduces HD 5750 Go! Green Edition

TUL Corporation, a leading manufacturer of AMD graphics cards, introduced the Go! Green series of products earlier this year. Now, PowerColor has taken the series to a new level by adding the HD5750 to its lineup.

Being green is as much a corporate responsibility as much as it is up to individuals. That's why PowerColor developed a series of products that consume less power-thereby reducing the greenhouse gas emissions, while providing the gaming performance gamers have come to expect from PowerColor video cards.

GEIL Intros Green Series DDR3 Memory Kits

GEIL is yet another company to undertake a green initiative with an appropriately branded product that appeals to the environment-conscious computer enthusiast (apparently the species does exist). After a similar line of memory kits with its DDR2 segment, GEIL announced four new dual-channel DDR3 memory kits based on capacity and speeds. The two come in 4 GB (2x 2 GB) and 2 GB (2x 1 GB) capacities, and two speeds each: PC3-8500 (DDR3 1066 MHz) and PC3-10660 (DDR3 1333 MHz). The biggest USP of these kits are that they offer JEDEC standard memory timings at module voltages 10~20 percent lower than JEDEC specifications. The PC3-10660 kits runs at 9-9-9-24, while the PC3-8500 ones do 8-8-8-20, both at a mere 1.3 V. This allows GEIL to do away with a heatspreader. The modules go through GEIL's rigorous quality-assurance testings and hence carry lifetime warranties. Another part of the green initiative is the product packing, which makes use of recycled paper, a trend which is catching up. GEIL will deck up shelves with these kits shortly, so you could know the price. Model number details follow:
  • GG32GB1066C8DC - 2x 1 GB, PC3-8500, 8-8-8-20, 1.3 V
  • GG34GB1066C8DC - 2x 2 GB, PC3-8500, 8-8-8-20, 1.3 V
  • GG32GB1333C9DC - 2x 1 GB, PC3-10660, 9-9-9-24, 1.3 V
  • GG32GB1333C9DC - 2x 2 GB, PC3-10660, 9-9-9-24, 1.3 V

Samsung Launches 1.5 Terabyte ''EcoGreen'' F2EG Hard Disk Drive

Samsung Electronics, a world leader in digital consumer electronics and information technology, today announced its new EcoGreen F2EG hard disk that delivers a massive 1.5 TB of capacity with 500 GB per disk. With increased recording density and reduced number of disks, the EcoGreen F2 drive is more power efficient by supporting a capacity up to 1.5TB with 3 disks.
"Lower platter count means less power to start the motor, less power to continuously spin the motor and a lighter head-stack which takes less power to seek," said Andy Higginbotham, director of HDD sales and marketing for the Samsung Semiconductor Storage Division. "With fewer heads and disks, the F2EG hard drive has a lower probability of head-disk failures, enabling customers to build more reliable systems."

Samsung EcoGreen F2 1.5TB HDD Tested

Korean silicon giant Samsung is ready with its 1.5TB high-capacity desktop hard drive, under the EcoGreen F2 series. The drive is labeled HD154UI. With this drive Samsung looks to focus on storage rather than performance, giving this drive a spindle speed of 5400 rpm, aided by a 32MB cache. This is where the company gets to brandish energy-efficiency, thus living up to its EcoGreen brand name.

Despite these specifications, the drive manages a decent set of scores on the HD Tune benchmark, churning out read/write speeds of around 105 MB/s sequential, and around 48/72 MB/s random access. It has a rated average seek-time of 8.9ms. This Samsung drive comes in the standard 3.5" form-factor. It uses the standard SATA II interface. The drive features some proprietary acoustic management features such as SilentSeek and NoiseGuard. It will be available in Japan later this week at a price of ¥11,580 (around US $130).

Details of the 9600 GT Green Edition Leaked

Expreview, has got hold of information which details NVIDIA's new 9600GT Green Edition GPU. It appears to be nothing more than a BIOS tweak, but as such has resulted in a 37W (39%) drop in power consumption, allowing the card to function without the need of an external power connector. This has resulted in a new board revision number P562. The memory clocks remain the same at 900 MHz, but the core drops to 600 MHz, with 1500 MHz on the shaders. By doing this, NVIDIA have been able to drop the core voltage from 1.1V to 1.0V, most likely providing the biggest saving in power.
