Noctua is adding a splash of color with the unveiling of Project Chromax, a company initiative to develop products with color elements. The first of its kind is a line were colorful rubber spacers or their fans and now has been expanded to include heatsink covers. These devices strap onto your heatsink fin-stacks, and give the coolers your choice of three colors: red, yellow or white. Initially, Noctua will launch heatsink covers for the NH-D15S and the NH-U12S coolers.

Noctua's fabled 200 mm A-series fan is closer to market availability, with the company greatly refining its design. In its latest prototype, the fan features a new fiberglass impeller. Fiberglass is chosen over ABS plastic as it is 26% lighter. A 200 mm ABS plastic impeller would need greater torque on the motor to get going at acceptable speeds. The motor features a larger 4 mm-dia chrome-steel axis (33% more bearing surface), and SSO2 ball bearing. Other features common along Noctua fan prototypes, such as acoustic optimization along the frame, a stepped inlet design, and vibration dampening pads are carried over.

Noctua is extending the A-series 15 mm thick form-factor to several other sizes, including the popular 80 mm, 70 mm, 60 mm, and 50 mm. All four come with 20 mm thick frame adapter, should you run into trouble installing them. Much like the slim A-series 120 mm fan, these fans feature acoustic-optimized frames, double ball-bearing motors, 5V and 12V inputs (including PWM controls), and frosted translucent frames and impellers.

Noctua unveiled a prototype slim 120 mm fan. The fan is just 15 mm thick (25 mm is the most common thickness for 120 mm fans). The fan features a metal reinforced hub, to make sure the hub and its four support structures don't disfigure over time. The motor features double ball bearing. The frame features a design that minimizes noise from the whiplash of the impeller. The frame further features rubber padding along the mount holes, to dampen vibration. Noctua did not put out fan-speed and air-flow numbers for this fan.

After introducing its first 5V 40mm fan 18 months ago, Noctua today presented 5V versions of its award-winning quiet NF-A6x25 60mm model. While the new NF-A6x25 5V runs at a fixed speed of 3000rpm, the NF-A6x25 5V PWM also supports PWM for precise, convenient speed control. Both models feature Noctua's proprietary AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames as well as sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels and come with a 6-year manufacturer's warranty. At the same time, Noctua announced that it will further expand its 5V line-up in the near future in order to meet the growing demand from industrial partners and DIY customers.

"5V applications are becoming more and more common in various fields, so it's no wonder we're seeing a growing demand for 5V fans," says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "For example, our NF-A4x10 5V is now being used in different home automation devices as well as network and storage solutions. What's more, it has become very popular among DIY users who run it on single-board computers such as the Raspberry PI or replace noisy fans in various devices such as NAS units, switches and DVRs. We've had lots of requests from all of these areas, so we are now starting to expand our 5V range with the new NF-A6x25 5V and 5V PWM."

PC Thermal solutions expert CRYORIG is releasing the second Origami based compatibility checker. Following the industry acclaimed CRYORIG Origami Tester that was initially released in 2014 for testing mainboard and component compatibility with CRYORIG products, CRYORIG has pushed the limits of paper folding innovation again with the CRYORIG Origami Case Depth Checker.

The CRYORIG Origami Case Depth Checker is a simple to build tool to help PC builders measure their case's CPU Cooler Tolerance Height, as there are still many case manufacturers who for some reason choose to omit this in their product page. Without this critical information, PC builders are left in the dark regarding wither or not a certain cooler will fit their case or not.

Noctua today officially introduced its chromax line of anti-vibration parts that give users the option of colour-customising their fans to match individual build colour schemes.
Available in red, blue, green, yellow, black and white, the chromax versions of NA-SAV2 anti-vibration mounts and NA-SAVP1 anti-vibration pads are ideal for colour-coordinating Noctua's black industrialPPC fans with other components and popular build themes such as all black, black & white, black & red or black & blue.

"The introduction of our redux and industrialPPC product lines marked a first step towards offering fans that fit in well with the typical colour schemes favoured by today's overclockers and enthusiasts", says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). Noctua today presented 24V variants of its renowned industrialPPC fans. Conceived for industrial heavy-duty applications that require enhanced cooling performance and advanced ingress protection, Noctua's industrialPPC (Protected Performance Cooling) line comprises ruggedised high-speed versions of the company's award-winning retail fans. The new 24V models use a dedicated wide input range version of Noctua's NE-FD2 three-phase motor driver IC in order to support 24V-based industrial applications and to provide moderate speeds and lower noise levels in standard 12V PC environments.

"The launch of our industrialPPC line has allowed us to expand our base of industrial clients as we're now able to provide solutions for highly challenging environments and to meet much higher demands as far as airflow and pressure performance are concerned", says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). Noctua today celebrated its 10-year anniversary. Since the introduction of the first generation NH-U12 heatsink in October 2005, Noctua's products have received more than 6000 awards and recommendations from leading international hardware websites and magazines, making them a default choice for quiet cooling enthusiasts all over the world. "Our products have come a long way since we launched our first cooler in 2005 and our first fan in 2006," says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO), "but we're still driven by the same passion to create the best quiet cooling solutions money can buy."

Noctua's first-generation NH-U12 and NH-U9 tower coolers were launched in October 2005 and took the international quiet cooling market by storm. Today, ten years and four generations of NH-U coolers later, the current NH-U12S, NH-U9S and NH-U14S are built to the same strict quality standards and, like their predecessors, are widely recognized to be among the best quiet single-tower coolers on the market. At the same time, Noctua's dual-tower coolers (following the legendary NH-D14), as well various other models such as the popular L-type low-profile coolers, have established themselves as leaders in other market segments. Over the years, the initial two-cooler line-up has grown into a family of 17 models that range from the tiny NH-L9i to the huge NH-D15 flagship and to the DX and DO lines of server and workstation coolers.

Noctua today announced that it will continue its tradition of supplying customers with its premium-class SecuFirm2 mounting kits for novel platforms free of charge. While most Noctua heatsinks support Skylake's LGA1151 socket out of the box, older models can be upgraded with the NM-i115x kit at no additional cost.

Due to the spacing of the mounting holes being identical on LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155 and LGA1156, Noctua's previous SecuFirm2 mounting systems for LGA115x also support Intel's upcoming 'Skylake' platform. All current Noctua coolers already include SecuFirm2 mounting systems for LGA115x and can thus be used on LGA1150 mainboards without any upgrades or modifications.

Noctua unveiled two new tower-type (U-type in Noctua-speak) CPU cooler prototypes, based on a new asymmetric design, which creates additional clearance over the memory slots area in a conventional motherboard. The 120 mm version is based on the NH-U12S, with heat pipes bent in a way that pushes the fin-stack a little off-center from the base; creating headroom for memory modules. The 140 mm version features a similar design, and is derived from the NH-U14S.

The 120 mm version offers 50% more surface area for heat dissipation than the NH-U12S; while the 140 mm version offer 30% more surface area than the NH-U14S. Both coolers, offer 100% clearance for memory modules. The 140 mm version has the fin-stack slanted away from not just the memory modules, but also the expansion slots, so the cooler doesn't eat into the topmost PCI-Express slot of your motherboard. Both coolers will feature next-generation 120 mm and 140 mm fans by the company.

Noctua unveiled an L-type CPU cooler prototype at Computex 2015. A design evolution of the NH-L12, the cooler features a slim aluminium fin-stack arranged along the plane of the motherboard, to which heat drawn from the CPU is conveyed by four nickel-plated copper heat pipes. This heatsink is ventilated by a new-generation NF-A9x14 fan on the top, and a 120 mm fan on the bottom. With the top fan removed, the cooler is just 65 mm tall. The cooler features the company's SecuFirm 2 mount, supporting a wide range of sockets.

Noctua unveiled two new super-slim A-series fans at Computex 2015. These include the all-white Slim 120 mm spinner, and the Slim 200 mm. The 120 mm Slim A-series is just 15 mm thick (compared to 25 mm standard); and features an all-white frame and impeller. It features an acoustic-optimized frame, with inner surface micro-structures that serve an anti-acoustic function; and vibration-dampening pads along its frame-mount, and included rubber bolts. An SS02 bearing gives the fan six-figure-hour MTBF. The 200 mm version features all those, plus a common Noctua-brown color scheme, and a 200 mm low-noise impeller.

Sick and tired of the brown, but can't do without Noctua quality? The company announced Project Chromax, an initiative to design new products that will give users the freedom to choose their own colors on certain parts of the fan, such as frame-mounts, and rubber bolts. Currently shown off with the company's all-black IPC 120 mm spinners, Noctua unveiled silicone-based anti-vibration frame-mounts and bolts in four colors. The company didn't announce any product with these yet, but is expected to launch a few, with such accessories.

Noctua announced several major design breakthroughs in its effort to design the first fan with a fully integrated active noise-cancellation system (ANC). ANC works on the principle of destructive interference in wave mechanics. As the fan blades and motor produce noise, a microphone takes in that noise to a processor, which inverts the phase of the sound, and sends it to speakers, that give out sound that interferes destructively with the noise output of the fan, reducing its amplitude.

Noctua announced breakthroughs that include a logic board that can fit into the fan's motor-hub and needn't stay in an [ugly] plastic box hanging outside the fan; and a new standards-compliant 25 mm-thick 120 mm fan design, which will pass off as any 120 mm fan; and can be easily installed on existing systems. The company also improved the ANC system magnets that run along the bore of the frame, and is working on improving the impeller design, and the software driving the ANC system. The company successfully concluded mass-production feasibility study.

Noctua announced in its Computex 2015 presentation that the company will give away adapters that let its CPU cooler models from as far as 2005 support Intel's upcoming socket LGA1151. The company will give away NM-115x retention module, which will let you install its CPU coolers on socket LGA1151 motherboards, which drive Intel's upcoming 6th generation Core "Skylake" processors. Products in Noctua's current product-stack already support LGA1151, as the socket features an identical mount-hole spacing to its predecessors, the LGA1150, LGA1155, and LGA1156. Those with older Noctua coolers that are upgrading from another socket (eg: LGA775 or LGA1366) should be able to write to Noctua with a few simple purchase details, and receive the adapter for free.

Noctua today announced two new additions to its portfolio of premium-quality, quiet CPU coolers with 140mm fans. Whereas the NH-D15S is a high-compatibility single fan version of the elite-class dual tower model NH-D15, the NH-C14S replaces the proven top-flow cooler NH-C14. Both the NH-D15S and NH-C14S feature an asymmetrical layout in order to avoid blocking the top PCIe slot.

"140mm coolers have become the default choice for enthusiasts who seek superior cooling performance for overclocking or near-silent operation, but these tend to block the top PCIe slot on many current motherboards," says Mag. Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "With the NH-D15S and NH-C14S, we've updated our successful 140mm dual tower and top-flow coolers with asymmetrical layouts that ensure the best PCIe compatibility."

Continuing its recent focus on premium grade cooling components for compact systems such as ITX based gaming or Home Theater PCs, Noctua today released its new NH-L9x65 low-profile cooler and a 4-pin PWM version of its popular NF-A6x25 60mm fan. While the latter adds PWM support for automatic speed control to the proven NF-A6x25 design, the NH-L9x65 is a taller, performance-enhanced version of Noctua's award-winning NH-L9 low-profile coolers.

"Our NH-L9 coolers have become a default choice for customers seeking premium grade quiet coolers in the sub-40mm class, but with a height of only 37mm, their performance is inevitably limited", explains Mag. Noctua today announced three new 92mm class CPU coolers. Whereas the NH-U9S and NH-D9L are retail models that suceed the popular NH-U9B SE2, the NH-D9DX i4 3U targets Intel Xeon LGA2011 based workstations and servers. All three models use the recently announced NF-A9 PWM 92mm premium fan to achieve class-leading quiet cooling performance.

In most tower-type CPU heatsinks, central bent portions of heat pipes pass through the CPU base, while their arms pass through ends of an aluminium fin-stack. Noctua plans to improve on that, without trying out expensive solutions such as vapor-chamber plates. Called Cube-base heat pipes, Noctua's solution include heat pipes that originate at the base, shooting straight up through the central portion of the aluminium fin stack, for a more even distribution of heat. Noctua implemented the cube-base heat pipes on a variation of its popular NH-U14S heatsink, which it displayed.

Noctua gave its U-type compact CPU cooler prototype a second showing at Computex. The cooler was displayed with a pair of 65 mm fans. The design goal of the cooler is to provide tower-type ventilation (in which hot air is pushed out of the case through the rear fan vent), in a package the size of a compact top-flow one. A dense aluminium fin heatsink, to which heat drawn from a nickel-plated base, is fed by four 6 mm thick heat pipes, is ventilated side-ways, by a pair of 65 mm fans in partial push-pull configuration. The cooler, by the looks of it, should be able to handle most mainstream CPUs, even with some overclocks thrown in. There's still no word on when Noctua plans to launch it.

Noctua showed off its newest innovation in PC fan design, the Flocked Surface impeller. Simply put, these fan impellers feature fibrous flock layers along the surface, which creates a turbulent boundary layer of air, much like dimples do on golf balls, resulting in increased air-flow, and decreased air-flow separation (whiplash). Noctua is flocking its fans in two ways, flocked impeller, and flocked frame interior. Examples of both are pictured below.

Noctua today expanded its product portfolio with two new fan product lines and a wide range of accessory kits. Whereas the redux line addresses price-conscious users by reissuing some of Noctua's most popular, award-winning models and presenting them in streamlined, more affordable packages, the industrialPPC (Protected Performance Cooling) line is conceived for industrial heavy duty applications that require enhanced cooling performance and advanced ingress protection.
